Is this happening in 2016? Or was 2014 truly the last year?

I have no idea where to put this - here in general chat or in plays or somewhere else. In any event, my daughter will be in London May 17-24 and she might be interested in this experience. She played Barbara in a production of Night of the Living Dead so .... Any thoughts?

Y'all have given me a new show that seems perfect for my small Central Illinois college town. Now to convince my partners to put this show on.

Are we sure Rosalie Craig is Mrs Peachum? Too young surely...? I reckon she's the daughter, Polly, who Mack has the hots for. I think that's right. I'm sure I read somewhere that Haydn Gwynne is Mrs Peachum. That makes sense... And seeing a mess sometimes is a fun thing! And Honoured Guest - I made the corrections!

Any word on how this "new" The Threepenny Opera will be. Rory Kinnear as MacHeath. Rosalie Craig as Mrs. Peachum? Simon Stephens' translation. My daughter will be in London May 17-24 and she's never seen a production of Three Penny Opera. The last one I saw was mumbledy years ago with Sting as MacHeath and it was ...... not good.

Wife will be in London next weekend. She wants to see Kinky Boots on Saturday night - landing at Heathrow in the morning so dayseats is likely not an option - nor is matinee. Any advice on discounted tickets?

Well I thought that the Play That Goes Wrong "Best performance in a Sequel" skit was absolutely hilarious - and that was just from listening to it on the radio! Really hope it makes the ITV Highlights cut. I watched the youtube stream (just concluded)(yes, I'm not in the UK) and it was absolutely hilarious. My wife kept asking me why I was laughing so hard.

I still want to see an excellent production of Man of La Mancha. I know there should be one, someday. (and please refrain from saying that this is an Impossible Dream).
I'd like to have seen a production of Mame with Imelda Staunton. Although, Ruthie Henshall might be a joy.

So, what was Moby Dick actually like? I have the CD and it's hard to tell from it whether the show was charming or audacious. The liner notes state it was savaged by critics but the audiences who turned out had a good time. The clips on bluegobo don't give me much of a sense of the show - likely due to be excerpts from Children in Need. I have some self-interest because I'm looking for fun musicals that have lots of female roles to put on in my community.

I'm now a long way from London, but just started up Theatreflats because, well, if you've ever been to Central Illinois, you will know.

Ok. This wasn't in London, but was in Champaign, Illinois at a show I directed. Saturday matinee. Curtain was at 2:00 p.m. Well, there was no curtain because we staged the show in the round. We held the curtain till 2:10 p.m. for stragglers. Had about 65 people in theatre which held 110. I did pre-show announcement. It's now 2:15. show starts. Over the next fifteen minutes, 20 people showed up and were escorted into the theatre. Hopping over people and railings. Sunday matinee - a woman buys three tickets and says she's going to get two friends. She is told show starts at 2:00. She leaves. We are sold out and scrambling for seats - I see a mysterious coat over two seats - which will be inaccessible once show starts. But, show much start - it's now 2:15 again. The women show up about 2:35 and are upset that we won't take them to their seats, but make them stand in a corner watching until intermission.

Yes, Honoured Guest is correct that copyrights can attach to translations and adaptations. And, there are recent enough "translations" and "edited" versions of Shakespeare - that you theoretically would have to pay a royalty to perform. And there are different copyright dates in the UK and the US. Whenever Mickey Mouse is about to go into the public domain, the Disney Company gets the copyright period in the US extended. It has led to issue with regards to Winnie The Pooh and Peter Pan being publicly available in the UK but not the US.

is the title going to confuse people looking for the play that goes wrong? And is the title a promise?

My production (co-director) of "for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf" opens Friday for four weekend performances. That's where I'll be. In Champaign, Illinois, USA. If you're in the neighborhood...
