I hadn't realised all the cast were not doing the whole run as I will miss some of them when I see it in June. From 30 March Rosalie Craig will not perform the role of Gabby/Bobbi on Monday evenings. Theo James, Rosalie Craig and Rob Houchen will be in the show until 30th May Nicola Roberts and Vanessa Williams will be in the show until 25th July Oh fudge! I've booked 30th March, so that means we'll miss Rosalie! We booked through TodayTixs, has anyone ever needed/changed date when booked through them? If so who would be the best people to speak to? I'd just like to swap to another day if possible, so we don't miss Rosalie!

So I think having a listen to the cast recording really helped me find my way through this last night!
Overall I thought that performances were phenomenal. Both Rachel and Hannah were just exquisite, exactly what I would have expected from them! The applause after 'Woman' was so loud, and I think if Rachel hadn't motioned that she wanted to carry on we wouldn't have stopped! It was my first time seeing Hannah Waddingham perform, and she is such a presence and such a character, I love her even more then I already did! I also loved the transition into Queen Elizabeth that she had with her costume, becoming more of the figure we knew by the end! She wore it well, that's all I can say! I think all of the main cast were strong, I thought Jai McDowall sang 'I'll Be There' very well indeed, and even the featured ensemble all performed great. I do agree that I don't think that the choir was needed, with the size of the cast bar them.
I can see why the show didn't work on Broadway, I just can't see the show resonating with them over there. I do agree that I don't think a 'semi-staged' version does the show justice, and I did wonder while watching if there had been some bits trimmed or cut to accommodate the concert format. To be honest I think this would be the type of show that would work in a custom built venue, something similar to 'The Railway Children' that was at Kings Cross Theatre. There is clips that I've seen of a production in the US that looks like they performed it in the round, which appears to be the Hale Centre Theatre production! (Trailer can be found on youtube!) From what clips I saw I thought was a really clever way of doing it, it also incorporated some revolves, which I think really would play well into the sword fighting/sailing scenes.
As others mentioned, there were a couple of sound issues, but I purely put that down to lack of rehearsal with the tech/space, but that really didn't detract from the overall performance for me! I'm so glad that I chose to see this in the end, I had a wonderful evening, and thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the front of the dress circle trying to find familiar famous faces down in the stalls!

So I've had a theatre filled couple of days! Thursday I saw Phantom for the first time. Saturday evening took myself to A Taste of Honey, then this afternoon finally caught A Comedy about a Bank Robbery before it closes, and I have just got back from watching The Pirate Queen at the Coliseum! All solo trips, either rocking off things my partner has already seen (Phantom and Bank Robbery), or wasn't too fussed about!

Finally ticking Phantom and Her Majesty's Theatre off the list tonight! Took a punt at a last min ticket as I have a free evening to myself, as I've never seen the show in person before! Can't wait to finally see 'brilliant original' for myself! What did you think of the show? Who did you have on for Christine and the Phantom? Joining the Phantom band wagon after discovering the film many years ago, it was so great to actually see where it all started! Because I was in the Balcony, I completely missed the cast board! But from what I could see, I think we had the main 3 on! I thought all performanced were great, I have always found Meg annoying, and was only reminded more of how annoying she is haha! I did find all the leads really strong vocally, though there were a few moments where I thought Josh could have been more angry or upset, but I might be just too used to Ramin in the 25th filming. I really enjoyed it, I have always loved some of the music, and think some of thr music is Act 2 is some of the best in musical theatre. I was worried that I would find the production tired, since it is the 'brilliant original', but overall I still think it holds up really well! Being up thr top, I really felt the full effect of the surround sound system, at times it sounded like the Phantom was right behind my ear, at other moments it sounded like he was the other side of thr theatre. I do think some things could do with being updated, and I found the chandelier very anti climatic! I just feel even sone sound effects to accompany it would help, being a fan of thr film, the chandelier is so dramatic, where I think it just feels flat! Though it raising from the stage during the Overture is something to behold! Also being top level, I saw the 2 stage hands come through the curtain to catch it, which ruined the moment ever so slight. The entry to the lair on the lake during the title song is still so magical, and works still so well, it's so simple, but is really effective! I unfortunately was sat the extreme house left, so did miss some key moments downstage right, mainly the major moments in the final lair. It's also the side the office is situated, so missed moments there, which didn't help when people leaned forward. Overall I really enjoyed it, so glad I have finally seen some musical theatre history!

Cam Mack was on Radio Leicester yesterday and i thought it quite interesting that when answering a question about whether he's planning to continue his relationship with Curve in the future he voluntarily brought up in the answer that he saw Curves West Side Story and thought it was one of the best productions of it he'd ever seen... Maybe he just wanted to get a compliment in but it would be interesting if he was involved in a transfer wouldn't it. Who knows I'd be very happy if this transferred! I think it was a fab production, it could do with some tweaks, but only minor, and I think it could do well in town for a limited run

Not entirely related, but here there is an interesting Twitter thread by JRB in which he answers the question of when does the audience realize that Cathy's and Jamie's narrative do not follow the same chronological order. That was such an interesting read!

How successfully have people been with the lottery on TodayTix's for this? I want to try and see Bianca before she leaves, but ideally don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. So put myself in for the lottery, take my chances I am selling a ticket on the notice board if that date’s any good for you? Ah afraid not, but thanks for the heads up though!

Lincoln Center's My Fair Lady (Celinde Schoenmaker as Eliza Doolittle), at either Aldwych or Drury Lane for Covent Garden setting. Song and Dance at Menier/Donmar. Very intimate and minimalistic, Jamie Lloyd-ish. Top Hat, keeping the choreography by Bill Deamer Miss Saigon - Open Air Theatre Merrily We Roll Along - Cadogan Hall concert Flower Drum Song - to tick off the R&H list xD Some of these area great shouts!

Talking about Drowsy Chaperone, that was an almighty flop in London. The broadway production was wonderful, what happened in translation? Possibly a simple case of the wrong casting bringing down the show? It’s a show that relies on the audience being in on the joke. In New York, I suspect that many more knew what was being spoofed but London audiences didn’t. The material, taken at face value, wasn’t strong enough. I would have loved to have seen Drowsy in London! I was so surprised to hear that it didn't do well at all over here, I feel that it had a similar reception to Millie, granted that lasted much longer, but still didn't catch on like the Broadway productions did!

It's been like that since 2015. I wonder if they still have plans for the show? Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. I noticed that last year, I would love an arena world tour, which is what was rumoured at one point! But still gutted that I didn't see the London production, mainly for Laura Michelle Kelly as Galadriel!

If anyone is interested, top priced tickets during Previews come in at £24.00, with the cheapest being £10.00. Where as after previews top price usual £45 for top price, looks a bit cheaper during the week, with 7pm starts on the weekday matinee days, which is Thursdays

Why not a revival of Blood Brothers? I think it's about time it made a comeback! I'd be glad of that! I always seem to miss it while its on tour, and its still one that I need to tick off!

I am sad that 'For the First Time In Forever (Reprise)' has gone, as I have always liked the dynamic between the two of them during that moment, and it incorporates elements from Demi's version of 'Let It Go'. I can't say that I was enamoured by 'True Love' by Anna, but that now does mean that Anna doesn't have a solo that is purely hers. I'm surprised that if they knew they were planning on making these changes 'standard' moving forward, why they've not got Caissie and Patti in to record the new song, to then sell and a single at a later date. Glad to hear that they are making changes, since its been running for some time, and they've had various productions in rehearsal, so it means that they can tweak things to make it work better for them!

I'm remaining optimistic for this one. Emerald is a clever girl, I think she might help this. This is what is giving me a glimmer of hope! It is Emerald's story, not Andrews, so I think thats got to account for something!

Also I miss the Dress Circle shop. I second this! I only went in a few times when I was younger, before I really was engrossed in the MT world, and I loved it! I'd love to be able to go back now, and look through all the cast recordings and posters! At least we still have it in a digital form!

No surprises there! I then she’s a great choice. And she gets to create a leading role in a new ALW musical, that's definitely something not to scoff at!

That would fit didn't NF say they would stage 3 ALW's? Phantom, Paint never dries and Wizard I think they said 3 more? In addition to Phantom? Maybe i'm wrong. Perhaps if it was 3 more after Phantom, maybe they've been in talks so that if Cinderella ever tours, then it opens at Curve? As previously they've had Sunset which Curve created, doubt it'll be Starlight, so just trying to think what else it might be?

The £50 tickets on London Theatre Direct are now front dress circle rather that rear which seems like a pretty good deal to me. I might wait a little bit longer as the deals are coming in now but I think that's a pretty good one. Its the same if you were to book through WhatsonStage. I've been keeping an eye on tickets for the past couple of days, as finally decided to see this over Zorro! I think this will be our only chance to see anything Pirate Queen related, as if ticket sales are anything to go by, theres not the demand for it haha!

Feeding in from comments on the Heathers board, it looks like Amber Davis has been in for a photo shoot recently which comprised of a cheer uniform, and has stated thats she's got another stage role in the pipeline... does this mean we have our potential Campbell? Any other casting ideas/speculations? I think they really need a strong cast with some names in it to pull people in!

I would say that its Bring it On rather then Heathers! As I'd be surprised if they had her in a cheer uniform for publicity photos, if she was in Heathers she'd hopefully be one of the 3, so would be in their signature outfit. She's really shown that she can perform, and shes a good one to have on the bill, so my guess would be Bring it On. Do we know when we might get some cast announcements for this?

Finally seeing this tonight in Aylesbury. I'm not convinced it's the show for me, but I've heard nothing but raves about it, so hopefully it'll prove me wrong! Even if you don't enjoy the show overall, the tour casts performances are amazing! So hopefully that's enough if you don't overly enjoy the show!

I have found that this is really dividing people over here! I still have to wait until April to see it myself, but I find it so interesting on how divided people have been! Both on here and people I know who have seen it!
