Apologies if this has already been brought up, but thought that everyone would be interested to know that the following article claims that along with the highlights of the awards ceremony broadcast at 22:15 on Sunday 3rd April on ITV1 as usual, the full ceremony will be broadcast a day later (Monday 4th April) on ITV3! Fantastic news in this is the actual plan! EDIT: Olivier Awards confirm that the full ceremony will be broadcast on ITV3 on Monday 4th April at 11pm! Fantastic!! www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/news/latest-news/article/item357689/vanessa-redgrave-to-appear-at-oliviers/Says NO live coverage pn YouTube either.. only after the ceremony. That's disappointing. But it's good to know we all (UK/-non-UK fans) are going to see Oliviers in full this year

As for Donnelly vs. Parker in terms of vocals.. I only heard Killian in Memphis and was shocked how much his voice is lacking any kind of depth and soulfulness the part required.. so uninspiring.
Jamie's baritone is just the one that always does the trick for me - goosebumps all over, too many times to count. When he really goes for it in a ballad's climax his voice overflows every little corner of the room with so much richness and warmth. *I really miss this pinkish smile surrounded with hearts from the previous forum)))* And what's interesting- Jamie doesn't seem to have the 'traditional voice' for musical theatre that is praised in some great musical's leading man but which I always found a bit monotonous to be frank.. He has an 'actor's voice' when it's more about telling the story rather than hitting a note. If you know what I mean (those who watched last year's BBC Sinatra Proms probably do).
But then again.. Peter Davison is nominated who simply can't sing AT ALL, so... anything can happen

Enjoyed these interaction bits between Sophie and conductor in Savoy as well! Gave it even more of a cheeky flavouring and it was plain fun to watch. I cannot see Sky as a patronising type and would certainly not be keen on a constantly grinning type either. I thought Jamie's Sky was beautifully ballanced containing both vanity & vulnerability but I am biased obv 'cause I just love him too much

I'm surprised Shenton is prophesizing Olivier for Jamie Parker. I mean I would be the first one to get nuts about that and Jamie deserves it thousand times over but I feel it's not gonna happen, not this year.. Hope I am mistaken and he's right though ))

I just can't take Musicals seriously as there always are moments like someone appearing at night when the city is asleep and start singing on a top of the voice about random things with silly rhymes.. This makes me chuckle where it shouldn't. A lot of things look sarcastic/mockingly when sung (rather than spoken). I guess it's just me... It's the problem with musicals I had as long as I can remember and nobody seems to share it so far.. That's why I don't expect anyone to understand.
Baemax, sorry you found it so shocking. I've never seen any spoofs on TV and I didn't mean everyone will be laughing all the way through by "light-hearted entertainment" (nothing wrong with it, anyway). it's just my own perception, probably distorted. I go to theatre quite a lot actually. I just prefer plays to musicals for many-many reasons. That said, I like musical numbers within plays or things like Once where songs are SONGS, not conversations.

I still cannot imagine how turning it into a musical could ever work. A bunch of kids singing songs about killing each other? I loved the book, films were rather pleasing for visualization and hit-on casting in some parts, but making the light-hearted entertainment out of this would ruin the whole thing unless they plan to go into black humour territory.. )) I believe it's going to be a play. Yet it was originally announced as musical.. www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/hunger-games-musical-to-hit-london-in-2016-9847413.html

Thank you, jamescrispy94! Still it is not quite clear whether YouTube channel is having LIVE broadcast of actual ceremony or they'll make it avail right after the show.

Give me Ken on ketamine any day! )) I actually always regarded Branagh more as a comedian, at least he impressed me more in that kind of roles rather than epic drama performances like Macbeth which I couldn't care less for.. I thought he was pretty hilarious in Harlequinade as well

The Weir. The most boring & uninspiring read. And it's only 50 pages! I thought it would newver end.. I didn't have a chance to see the recent 5 star production but I cannot imagine how even a bunch of great actors can pull this snoozefest off..

Just seen on the ATG website that the Savoy cast is being filmed on Monday and Thursday. Excellent! Another 'live' musical being filmed Sadly the filming was cancelled according to BO.. and I was there on Monday - no TV cameras spotted. What a shame.

My friend saw John Heffernan at Ma Rainey's Black Bottom in NT on Tuesaday mat. Don't care much about the production but now wish I was there with her

The brochure doesn't suggest Plough being Travelex either.. But they do have some bugs on the web site- like Depp Blue Sea page showing only performances in June though it's running through the August..

Where do you pre-order OST, guys? Friends are interested.
I personally thought the only good thing about this prod was the set/lightning design. And Susannah Fielding. Lovely voice!
