Have tried several times this evening to book for early July and no luck at all. Rather frustrating as I don't live in the UK so phoning the box office fro8m Spain would defeat the enticing 15 pound ticket price. One more attempt tomorrow I suppose. I always phone them by Skype - much-much cheaper) Anyway, the ticket system seems to be back to normal service, I've just booked a front row seat for early August.

It's a shame but as I got tired of waiting I booked two other things for this day (the only I had spare). Not much interested in the play itself to be honest (not a fan of HP, not even close) - Jamie Parker is easily the only thing that makes me wanna go. If he stays until late Autumn I'd consider another visit

Just to let you know - the theatre has some availability on Aug 3 (both plays, regular price - 60 each), if anyone is interested. Got a mail from Nimax, but I now can't make this date, so.. grab them while you can (I think you will need to give them a call).

Baemax, I did the same for Geoffrey (having no clue what was before Series 10) but it should have been more of him anyway ) I managed to enjoy it even - Lara Pulver was great, loved her character.
Sorry for off topic
As I'm on it, I gotta say I'm loving the series more than the first one back in 2012. Shakespearean's hystory plays in particular often make me wanna take a short nap until the next important scene but this sort of distilled version (lots of action/text cut out) is the one to enjoy throughout. Some stunning shots too, the most memorable being Plantagent brothers reflected in the gleaming blade of a sword. Benedict C doing a fab job as Richard to me taste. He's deadly evil with his mind as much bright as it's twisted, yet he's a lot of fun and somehow compelling.. He makes you understand his pain and deep-seated anger. I found myself rooting for him unconsciously.. Isn't that weird? A wonderfully stange mixture of feelings that lingers on. Also loved the way his speeches are delivered - straight on to the camera in almost stage-like fashion. Really draws you in.

peggs, your comments are priceless, keep us posted! )) Personally extremely pleased to see Geoffrey Streatfeild in this (you might say I have a soft spot for him) - he hardly does any decent TV or film.. More pleasure to catch him in theare

Tremendous review, Steve! As always keep it up! The pictures alone got a couple of my friends (hard-core Globe fans) super nervous claiming Emma should not stray away from this theatre's own "landmark" look which sort of stuck as classical one over Rylance's & Dromgoole's tenures. Hope they won't be disappointed too much...

Been several times, always a different experience (as each guide has smth interesting and unusual to tell) but nothing beats their Costume Tours - happens on selected date and they've got huge waiting list, but it so wrth it!
You can ask anything really - they are tend to be knowledgeable.

London Theatre posted Richard II on YT, if anyone is interested. Personally loved James Norton's take on the king - never seen him pictured like this.. so human.

I loved the BBC radio version from years ago - with Rory Kinnear & Ruth Wilson. Great play too.

Would absolutely love to see Ros & Guil with any casting! Never had a chance to see it on stage, but positively adore the play itself & film with Oldman/Roth, one of my faves )

Highly unlikely but I'd love to see Gary Oldman onstage one of those days the most.. My top choice.
And Maggie Smith! Let her comeback with smth smashing! I remember her saying a couple of years ago that she'd love to do some theatre.. I expected everyone knocking her down with offers by the time she finished that very phrase but sadly it's still not happening. What a shame!
Hugh Laurie and Peter Capaldi (too busy being The Doctor, I know!) doing some comedy on stage would be nice too )

The phrase "Uncastrated manly countertenors" in Iestyn Davies's speech introducing Farinelli (I personally don't see anything worth editing out either for time or censorship - I thought it was a fab joke!)) I haven't seen the ITV version, this came from the man himself but - can anyone confirm please? It wasn't in the intro shown in the full-length broadcast but it didn't look like any cuts had been made (single shot) - maybe he meant that he was told beforehand he wasn't allowed to use it.
But he did use it! (I was watching YouTube version avail internationally). Here is the link to the bit as I've heard it:

Censorship? Or just for time? What have you heard was censored? Hi all! New to this board! I just recently managed to get tickets for 'The Cursed Child' in July! I had lost all hope to see it this year but it turns out Nimax has an activated "wishlist" that you can register in, and so I was able to get tickets through that system. I'm so excited!
Congrats!
How do you get on this so called 'wishlist" please?

10-12 people in a row (v tight) + 5-7 on both sides as far as I remember.. 4 rows, avoid the second by all means as it has no rake. Grab a cushion if you can as chairs are not comfy (not at all!). I imagine people arriving too early (like an hour before) would be ones who want to sit in the front row so if you and your company are flexible with that, I think half an hour before the start is okay. You may start Q-ing and enjoy a drink at the bar at the same time just make sure you tell everyone you're not just standing there ) There was some confusion with that the night I went.. Good luck! UPD: I was at The Dazzle only. They might have changed smth since then.

Depends on the shock - if the shock is that a jobbing actor doing the best work of their career gets the award over the movie stars, TV actors, and national treasures that are also nominated in their category, then that is the finest shock there is and an indicator that sometimes the awards do look at quality rather than just who's the most famous. 'Cos it's depressingly usually the movie star who wins. Rory Kinnear won over Tom Hiddleston in Best Actor category two years ago (and most shockingly - in a good way - Luke Treadaway over Everett & Rylance one year before that) so there is hope

I am wanting one of the Gypsy men to win Supporting. I personally am more in favour of Dan but if Peter wins, I wouldn't be disappointed either. Sure, he isn't the best singer but Herbie isn't meant to be a good singer. And he acts the hell outta the role!
I thought every musical actor should be able to sing at least to the degree when it doesn't make you cringe while listening... I do love Peter Davison as an actor, don't get me wrong. He was particularly brilliant in All Creatures.

Was the same in Wyndham's by the sound of it. So basically the wow moment is that they've got two-story set? Well.. okay. I liked the pub interior, felt quite authentic. And glass windows which you can sort of see through.

Caught the encore in the local cinema today, very entertaining evening indeed! It shouldn't be THAT funny, should it? Loved-loved Johnny Flynn's performance - how come he didn't get an Olivier nod for this?..
But.. could somebody please exlain what was so fascinating about the set desighn that it got some awards? I don't find it any special but probably the screen didn't manage to do full justice to it..

I'd say Threepenny Opera at NT. You will definitely have an interesting experience from WE show and get to see great actors such as Rory Kinnear & Rosalie Craig in amazing venue for half price of any WE musical
