This will probably only be spreading a bit of happiness if you are an animal lover. 2 colleagues came into my office yesterday to ask if I had a box as they had found 2 kittens abandoned up the road next to a very busy dual carriageway. They asked what was best to do with them and I told them I had a number for a cat sanctuary as I had been looking after stray cats recently and the charity had helped. Anyway a little bit later they came back with the box with not 2 but 3 kittens. They were all healthy and absolutely adorable. Definately not feral cats as they were quite comfortable with humans so we believe someone had dumped them there. The colleagues were making a big fuss of them, took the number of the charity and went off to their office with the kittens. Something made me think that they wouldn't end up in the sanctuary. Anyway about an hour later I want up to their office. No kittens and the colleagues not there either. When I asked about the kittens I was told they had already been adopted by the colleagues. 2 going to Suffolk and the third to Essex. I had a feeling that they couldn't resist them but it made me so happy that they were now going to have great lives. I had even decided to take one if need be but that wasnt necessary. So it was a lovely end to the day. As someone who has 3 rescue dogs, this has made my day!

peggs and theatreian , you're so sweet, both of you. I promise I don't slouch around in PJs - I do get dressed for work every morning, especially as the nature of my job calls for many meetings - but it will, admittedly, usually be jeans and a T-shirt rather than a dress. I spend my days hunched over a laptop, and I share a flat with 3 other people with no living room, so somehow it makes little sense to wear something really lovely just for a walk to heat up my lunch during the 'break' (whatever that even is when you are working from home). But I do occasionally make more of an effort when I go to the shops, or for a long walk, just for the sake of it. However, the crisp shirts and the long, layered tulle dresses and glitter shoes will have to wait for when the theatres reopen. (Yes, I occasionally choose to go as a princess! On other days I'll go to the theatre in my Docs and jeans, depending on the mood. Maybe it's the fun of choosing and deciding that I really miss.) I do find it fascinating how liberating I've been finding life without make-up, though. I'm not very high maintenance as is, but truth be told I don't miss the foundation and concealer routine. (I do sometimes add a touch of lipstick for the Tesco-trip, though - just for the fun of it, when I'm in a colourful mood.) peggysue , I am not that old (or so I choose to believe) but I vinyl! The last ex and I started a little collection, and when we broke up he took the record player and we divided the records (it was a fair division, and I got to keep most of my favourites!). I made a decision to re-start the habit of purchasing vinyls just a few months before I found out I was moving to England, so that didn't last long (my small collection is now with my parents, who have zero interest in records, or music). But as soon as I settle somewhere on a more long-term, more-space basis, I plan on restarting that hobby.
Feel free to share the duds list, I always find those fun! (Mine are on CDs mostly, due to the time when they were purchased... But my twin sister and I sure made some strange choices that now make me question why on earth we'd spend money on those!) Here goes with my duds list (all singles - would be surprised if you had heard of most of them) Banana Rock - The Wombles Whispering Grass - Don Estelle & Windsor Davies If - Yin & Yan Python on Song - Monty Python Only Women Bleed - Julie Covington Windmills of Your Mind - Noel Harrison Only Loving Does It - Guys 'N' Dolls Still the One - Child Shooting Star - Dollar Dance Away - Roxy Music I Was Made for Dancing - Leif Garrett Capstick Comes Home - Tony Capstick Everyday Hurts - Sad Cafe Point of View - Matumbi Someone's Looking at You - Boomtown Rats Ca Plane Pour Moi - Plastic Bertrand God I'm a teenager all over again!! Loved Only Women Bleed, Dance Away, Every Day Hurts and the Rats one. Interesting (??) fact. Sad Cafe's album was called Facades, an anagram of their name (yes I do remember that from however many years ago it was!)

I've just watched Hope Mill Theatre's pre recorded Some Enchanted Evening concert. It was lovely with contributions of Rogers and Hammerstein tunes from Sophie-Louise Dann, Maria Friedman, Louise Dearman amongst others. When i can work out how to, I'll be making a donation to the theatre. Concert is online until 3rd May.

My speed is only around 2mbs and I had buffering during the 1st half and variations in picture quality. I moved to s different room near to a booster for the 2nd half and it improved slightly. Still enjoyed it though. If you mean One Man Two Guvnors, we watched it on Youtube through the telly (I think most modern TVs will allow this - ours is 10 years old but I did it through a newer Panasonic Freeview box). The night before I tried to watch the Schaubuhne Hamlet online and it kept stopping, so we watched that through the telly too (Vimeo with a Roku box on an ethernet cable) and it played smoothly without problems, though no subtitles. Thank you for that suggestion. Joseph was much better using YouTube on the TV. Not perfect but significantly better.

Does anyone know, please, roughly what broadband speed you need for streaming The adverts say between 2.5 and 3mbs, so you are well inside that. I've found it to be around 5 to avoid buffering, though. My speed is only around 2mbs and I had buffering during the 1st half and variations in picture quality. Do you have to sign up for this?
More details to follow but indications are each play is available on their youTube channel for a week, so no sign up necessary. National Theatre - youTubeIs there any indication at what time this will be available for the rest of the week?. Will it only be broadcast at 7pm every night or can you view it at any time.

Did you check the gas people's credentials? (Not a euphemism!) Doesn't sound like a particularly wise thing to be doing with a mallet. 🤨 Did they hit them twice? Probably just Drifting in and out then.... (Whatever you do, don't be tempted to meet them in the hallway.) Today's Winner (wonder how many get it though🤣)

Made a conscious effort to only watch one news bulletin today and also tried to avoid reading too much of the coronavirus crisis on social media. As Sundays are usually a sport watching day for me but thats not feasible at the moment I watched Berlioz Requiem on Sky Arts with Gustavo Dudamel conducting a huge orchestra (with 10 separate timpanists!), separate brass ensembles and a choir of what seemed about 200 voices. It was wonderful.

A confrontation at We Will Rock You in Llandudno on Saturday. Happened in the back row of the stalls towards the end of the show just before the title song I think. Two women got into a physical confrontation, hair pulling etc. accompanied with 'well he f@**king started it'. Security removed them I believe. Was quite evident to all in the theatre and most of us down the front turned around. A first for me to experience in the theatre.

Venue Cymru have just emailed to say Layton won't be appearing on the day we are booked (9th May) and to contact them if we want a refund or to change the booking. Well be staying with our chosen date. Adam Taylor will be doing both performances that day. Wow. Is Layton that big of a draw? No disrespect but does anyone outside of the MT niche even know who he is? It surprised me to be honest. He's obviously got quite a following in Llandudno!!! Edit: Apologies, they are not offering refunds but you can shift your booking to another night when he is performing. Sorry for confusion.

Fanny Davis became Frances Alda (her married name had been Adler)
I wish she'd stuck with her married name. Fanny Adler sounds like a 19th century job!

Touring arenas again 2021. Tickets on sale Friday. Wasn’t the last tour announced as the farewell tour? I think the last one (2018) was the 40th anniversary tour. The 2014 one was (oddly) the farewell tour I think. A quick check has revealed the 2014 version was billed as 'The Final Area Tour' (which it clearly wasn't)

Generating $2 billion in music sales doesn’t mean she pockets that. I’m pretty sure when I was youth the rule of thumb was recording artists would make roughly £1 per album sold as that would have made her about £335 million from albums. Then of course you have to tax that, feed her managers and staff etc etc Yes, I know exactly what generating means. Warner gave Madonna a huge amount of leeway though in over to keep her over the years. She owns the publishing rights on almost everything she’s ever released, has written almost everything she’s ever released and made sure that whatever she recorded, her label only ever owned the songs she submitted to them and that could only ever release music in a format she agreed. That is why we never see expanded or special versions of her previous albums - Warner doesn’t own anything else to put on them. No outtakes, no unreleased songs, no demos... nothing. Plus even if they did, their agreement with Madonna is that she must approve also approve any new compilation album or revised track list of existing releases. Rumour has it she’s either buy or in the process of buying her masters back from them too. There’s some copyright law in the US that means you can buy them back after 35 years or something. Her gross ticket sales are also in excess of $1.1 billion too. I might be misquoting the specifics here, but I’m fairly sure Madonna takes home 80% of every ticket sold and then pays out her bills from that etc (starting with Sticky and Sweet). Are they two of her children??

Having never been to or even looked at a production at Hope Mill, would getting 6 tickets together on a Saturday night performance for this be a bit optimistic? (I have registered for priority booking) Nah. U less something very weird happens with this show you’ll have no problems at all. Experience so far is that it doesn’t start to sell until nearer to the dates and sometimes inly after the reviews are out. It’s on for a month, you’ll be fine. also they’ve now upgraded the booking system and you can select your own seats instead of having the coloured sections. Good news. Thank you
