Me too monkey. I saw Hamilton once and loved it but honestly felt and that once was enough but just knew I had to see In The Heights a second time. Very excited for the film. Agree with both, I must prefer it to Hamilton. It might not be the most elaborated book in the history of musicals but what a show! And the Southwark production was just perfect, such a dedicated cast, so full of energy, and don’t even let me start talking about Victoria Hamilton-Barrit, what a Star! I 100% prefer this to Hamilton. To say I was unimpressed with Hamilton is an understatement, but I absolutely LOVE In The Heights. I'm watching the trailer on repeat until the movie opens. Also, the lack of capital letters in the title of this thread is giving me anxiety issues.

It was a much more restrained audience than usual. No entrance applause for Hamilton and only a partial standing ovation at the end. I'm not sure this came across as magically as normal. There's always full standing ovation in the stalls and royal. Grand circle is just a different species Hmmm I saw this back in August for the first time and there were plenty of bums on seats at the end of the night in the royal circle where I was.....I should know cause I was one of them.

Need to do some cast recording investigation. Which version is the best to listen to? Personally, for me it has to be the OLC recording, but I'm a huge Jo Riding fan so may be a bit biased.

I absolutely love the score of this and it has some amazing tunes! I saw the original cast in London and really enjoyed it. I'd welcome a tour if the cast was good (ie not including the likes of Marti Pellow).

Aww that was amazing that they all came back, the atmosphere in that house tonight must have been electric. Obviously we know what Courtney and Millie are up to next but looking forward to hear what the others get up to.

After some investigating (not a patch on Coleen Rooney's though) I uncovered the following about the others:
Aragon - Bermuda Boleyn - Brighton Seymour - Scotland Parr - London (or maybe Chichester)

I sat in Grand Circle (J1) for this and only paid £19.50. I'm 5'4 and I thought it was a fantastic seat for the price, I could see clearly and didn't feel too far from the action.

come n, it's Kander and Ebb, and even lesser Kander and Ebb is good. I wish someone would be brave enough to stage The Visit. Never has a Cast recording intrigued me so much, and left such a taste of warm melancholy. I'll go to curtains if just to see exactly how the plot pans out as the songs don't give much away. And yes I want to see In the Same Boat staged. I saw The Visit in a half empty theatre on Broadway - it had friggin' Chita Rivera in it, that auditorium had no business being half empty. The show was certainly unique and I really enjoyed it. As for Curtains, I plan to see it based on the fact that I've never seen a production of it before and I adore Becky Lock, but it's not coming to my local theatre til March and I never book tickets that far in advance as my circumstances are always really unpredictable.

From the snippets I saw on social media it looked like it was a fun event, if I lived closer I would definitely went along. I hope they post a video of the whole routine with everyone joining in as I would love to see that.

I agree. When the performance of Bridges that I was due to see was cancelled at the last minute (when I was on my way down on the train from Scotland to see it) I needed something to fill the empty slot and I remembered all the buzz and great reviews about JCS on here so it jumped to the top of my list. I'm so glad I took the advice from all of you as I managed to snag a last minute ticket and I loved it.

Interesting that they are getting rid of the paperless ticket system from December. Tickets booked online will be posted one week before the performance. They will also do group bookings for 10 or more people. I wonder if they are now struggling to fill the house every night. I'm pretty sure they are still doing good business, but when I went last week there were a few empty seats in Stalls. I assumed they were sold but people couldn't make it, but maybe they weren't completely sold out. I went for the first time to see this on Thursday and was prepared for a massive security rigmarole to get in, but it took seconds as they only swiped my credit card and gave me my ticket. No ID or email confirmation requested even though it said you would need it to get in. There were quite a few empty seats in the Royal Circle and I even saw people leave at the interval. Personally I wasn't impressed (I don't regret seeing it, I just don't need to see it again). I saw four shows on my trip this time and Hamilton was my least favourite. Clearly I wasn't the only one who felt like this as I overheard a few conversations in the bar at the interval from disappointed and indifferent audience members.

Are they still doing the upgrades from balcony to stalls atm? They didn't do it last week. I was there on the Tuesday night and it was pretty much sold out, only one or two empty seats in the whole place.

I wanted a cheap seat for this so thanks to theatremonkey’s great website, I took a punt on W33 for £24. Fantastic clear view, was very impressed with the seat. 😊. It also didn’t feel too far from the action.

I sat on the left side and it wasn't too bad but I would sit on the other side because the kitchen bit is the side that I missed. I would also go for row D Really useful, thank you. I'm hoping to go to the Saturday matinee this weekend but at the moment all of the seats are in pairs and it won't let me book just one seat. Hoping one will free up tomorrow. Might have to give in and ring them to sort it, but we'll see! Yeah, I called the box office when it happened to me and they happily just sold me the single ticket.

I popped into the Arts around 5.30pm today and saw a bunch of girls just sitting around, I assumed they were waiting on the cast arriving. I was surprised at how many of them there were.

Oh no!!! I'm seeing this for the first time tonight (Thu) and am hoping the sound (and diction) is spot on so I know what the heck is going on. Yikes! Maybe I will read the synopsis on Wiki.

Does Lucie do all 8 shows for this, or is it one of those leads where they have an alternate do a couple of shows per week? I'm seeing the matinee tomorrow and know nothing about the show so I'm going into it it blind. She does all the shows, Jenna never had an alternate in the West End or anywhere else. Thank you

Well I've just came back to hotel after seeing this tonight (last minute ticket purchase since BOMC was cancelled) and it was more or less sold out. Definitely no empty seats in the circles and gallery and I saw maybe 5 or 6 empty seats in the stalls.

I have plumped for JCS (thanks). Managed to snag the last seat up in the Upper Circle, I know it’s restricted view but I’m poor. Haha. Excited to see after reading all the posts about it on here.

Well I guess they don’t have understudies after all cause I have just got an email saying tonight’s performance is cancelled. I’m on a train from Scotland as we speak coming down to see it and now I guess I’m putting my back up plan into place. Sooooo Evita or JCS??? Hmmm. Already booked to see Come From Away, Waitress, and Hamilton. Any other suggestions of something I should be checking out are welcome. 😊

Normally I’m happy to see an understudy (I’m see Rachel’s understudy on Wed night in Come From Away and I’m perfectly happy to do so) but I’m a huge Jenna fan and booked this show to see her. I can only get to London once a year and always have a long list of things I want to see in a short space of time. I bumped 4 shows off the list for Bridges so now i’d rather see one of those. I’m sure the understudy is fantastic but I just need to chose wisely to get the best out of my trip. 😊

That's Easter Sunday, in case that helps or hinders anybody's planning! Yup, as much as I love SJB, there is no way I'm trying to navigate through inevitable rail works to come down from Scotland for this.

I know it's not a revival as it's not been in London yet.....but I'm STILL waiting for a West End production of Next to Normal.

Jenna has just tweeted that she's ill and I'm coming down from Scotland to see this on Tuesday. Yikes! Wishing her a speedy recovery.....however I am organising a Plan B incase she's off.

Another vote for Martin Guerre (if it's a mix of the London and UK Tour production) and also Starlight Express (if it's a full blown production with the race track and not that ridiculous 3D screen). Starlight was the very first show I saw in London when I came down from Scotland for my 18th birthday many moons ago so it holds a special place in my heart. I'd also happily buy tickets for a revival of Ragtime and Rent, heck throw in a Jekyll and Hyde revival as well (as long as the Hoff isn't playing the lead).

I've only left at the interval once in my life and that was at Peter and the Starcatcher in NY (even the fact that it won a Tony couldn't make me stay for Act 2), I'm hoping that this show won't suffer the same fate.

I just meant that if it was a popular show that parents would take kids to then it might be harder to get a good seat in Aug. I don't think that will be the case for Fiddler though, as it's not overly kid friendly.

Thank you, that's exactly what I will do. Hopefully the fact that it's Aug and kids go free shouldn't affect this show too much - it is for the whole month of Aug that the kids get to go free, isn't it? Or am I getting it wrong?

So if you’re the type of person who tries for a last minute deal (as I sometimes do), this isn’t the theatre or show to go for). Good to know, thanks for the heads up. I was going to try for an 'on the day' discount when I go in Aug.
