More thoughts on this, I think the reason it WILL do well, is that there definitely seems to be a big crossover of Steps fans and Musical fans (and I'm not just talking about the gays). Same to be said for something like Titanique having huge success in the US.
People love to diss, but you can guarantee everyone will get up and dance to tragedy at a party (and know the moves).

This could be one of the best Jukebox musicals ever or could turn into another Viva Forever. I really hope it’s the former because I’m a huge Steps fan.

So happy this is coming. Can’t wait to see what they’ve done with it since Atlanta where I saw it twice. The music is great, the story is great, think Soho Cinders meets Oliver meets Heartstopper.
I’d also highly recommend reading the novel by Terry Ronald too, it’s a really fun story.

Three years at Drury Lane is quite an achievement. Brilliant in these times. And they’re bound to have a brilliant summer.

Im big fan of the original film and have seen the Broadway version 4 times, and I thought as far as musical to film adaptions go, this was pretty good! A lot of the “filler” songs have been cut. The only one I missed was “It Roars” - the replacement number isn’t as good. Casting mostly good, especially Renee Rapp and Auli’i Cravalho. Angourie Rice couldn’t really sing though.
Revenge Party was a great sequence, as was World Burn.
It won’t become as iconic as the original but well worth a watch.

Has anyone had any luck with rush tickets on the TodayTix app for this? Have been religiously trying at 10am on the dot and no luck so far! Managed to get one for my dad for Saturday matinee. It was in the grand circle row e

I think this current Broadway season is quite exciting for new musicals and no clear frontrunner for any of the major awards.

English is an absolutely fantastic play. Hope it eventually makes it to London. It's announced as a co-production with the Kiln, where it will transfer straight afterwards. Oh I missed this. That’s wonderful news. I saw it at the Atlantic in New York. Curious how the dialects may change in a British production

jr yes dubbed on Netflix - I've tried watching foreign language films with subtitles but find it too much a struggle.

Brilliant play which just kept on giving and giving. And of course three excellent performances. Definitely not one to miss.

Just watched The Society of Snow. It's an excellent dub. Great film, truly harrowing story.

Brilliant television but a truly tragic story. Those poor people... NORMAL hard working people. It could have been anyone.
Also, give Monica Dolan all the awards, loved her in this.

Quite a lot of phones going off at the matinee of Rock n Roll in Hampstead today. At least three ringing, many more pings and vibrates. Definitely seems to be a common thing when you have an older average audience…..

Second viewing tonight in a very full house. A very non typical theatre audience (the queue for the gents outweighed the queue for the ladies) totally engrossed. Great on a second viewing.
I also heard a fair share of enthusiastic American accents during the interval and on my way out so I’m curious how this does on its transfer.

Found this pretty dull for the first hour, picked up slightly before the interval. Act two was faster but again pretty one note until the end. Not my thing.

macksennett it was a brilliant seat, row E orchestra just off to the side. With the way their grosses have been, I doubt it lasts much longer unfortunately, so hopefully it will still be running.

Definitely live tonight. It was torrential rain in the feed. One of the crews umbrella blew away and practically hit Tom up the face and blocked his way getting out of the gate at the stage door. That was quite funny 😂. Absolutely brilliant tonight, Rachel came to slay and totally knocked it out the park. How anything tops that the remainder of 2024 remains to be seen

Lots to look forward to.
Opening Night, Starlight Express and Hello, Dolly! Have booked Fangirls already and the first night of Mean Girls.
For my NYC Trip - Aaron and Sutton in Sweeney Todd is sure to be a highlight. Also Lempicka, Notebook and Hell's Kitchen all high on the list.

I rated 3 stars but going back again to see it today. It’s the case of it being a fun show rather than a good musical. That and my sister wanted to go.

I have a feeling they haven't yet annnounced the venue because it will go to the Apollo, and TTW will close early.

155 theatre visits this year (135 unique shows!) - Hope to atleast match that.
I've started to be a bit more savvy and I'm no longer seeing everything for the sake of it. Some poor reviews have kept me from seeing things I'd normally jump at (Lyonesse being a prime example).
