The best thing we have in our family is a child. We always have Christmas at a house where the child *doesn't* live so we get to break up the party fairly early by saying "oh, well, the child needs to go to bed soon", and that's a brilliant opportunity for everyone to escape. Not quite sure how we'll cope when the child gets a bit too old for that to work, but we'll certainly make the most of it for now... We used a similar excuse in that we had to get home to make sure the dogs were OK. Funnily enough that coincided with the nephew and niece rapidly working themselves up to the inevitable tears and tantrums. Now sat at home quietly with a drink.

I'm really looking forward to my last 2 visits on 28 Dec and 5 Jan, but I'm so sad at the same time. This year has been hard for me and my family and this show has provided the escapism and lift that I needed. I have booked things next year which will be great, but I will sorely miss the joy and happiness that this show gives me from the first note to the last.

Footloose and Book of Mormon for me. I think I already documented this on the board but it still annoys me that some people thought the shoddy production values and general (though not all) lacklustre performances in Footloose were the best that live theatre has to offer.

Ben Elton is touring again! Found out at random when looking at Hugh Jackman tickets. Pre-sale on Ticketmaster was worth the extra £2 over house prices, as I won't be around when those drop. Been a manic booking morning! I've booked Hugh Jackman for myself and hannechalk, also going to get Ben Elton tickets as Christmas present for my boyfriend. Been an expensive week with Michael Ball and another trip to 42nd Street too!

Thanks very much both ☺️ Friday 4 Jan won't work as my parents live abroad and will have gone home then. Should definitely be able to do any matinee between Christmas and New Year though. I've Tweeted the official account to ask if they will release a schedule of performers.

Thanks to theatremonkey's excellent site, I see there are matinées on the Thu, Fri and Sat between Christmas and New Year. Does anyone know which ones Clare will be doing? I'm hoping to take my mum and as it will be her only visit, I would really like her to see Clare.

I concur with the above. I tried my best to get my money's worth of prosecco as the food didn't turn up for nearly 2 hours and was lukewarm when it did

We have a temp in who talks incessantly. There's no harm in her, but if she goes on about her ancient cat any more... Thank God she finishes on Friday. Also sulking because hannechalk isn't in work to bear the pain with me.

I loved this. So much energy and the comedy parts were very well done. Rupert Young just gets even more handsome! Was tempted by another visit but it appears to be sold out for its last week. Its worth keeping tabs on the website and giving the theatre a call if your close enough to travel on the day as Ive seen seats popping back up. Thanks, I'll give it a try on Sat. I'm going to the West End Musical Brunch, then have the evening free

Tired but happy after a very enjoyable 2 show day yesterday. Between seeing Rupert Young from the third row at Twelfth Night, and Ashley Day from the front row at 42nd Street, I've come over all unnecessary!

Couldn't believe the view from AA12, just fabulous! I was grinning like an idiot all the way through. My next visit was going to be closing night, but I just might manage another one before then!

So excited to see this again on Sat. Usually sit around row F stalls, but will be middle AA this time! Got lots going on at the moment so an escape to this joyous show will be most welcome.

I saw it last night. Very enjoyable and inclusive production. I love the melancholy of "Twelfth night" which was not here, but it was still very nice. I had a cheap ticket and they put me in the first row which was interesting for many reasons: I got a piece of roasted pineapple, a lovely Slovakian community actress sat with me before the show and we chatted about low cost flights, Rupert Young sat just close to me for his scene with the unbuttoned shirt (on the notes of 'Is this not love?', which prompted some pondering and the conclusion: "Mmm, probably it is") and, there isn't an elegant way to put it, Silas Wyatt-Barke (Sir Andrew Aguecheek) did some stretching on my knee accidentally. I've had a crush on Rupert Young since I saw "High Society" at the Old Vic, so I'm hoping for a good view of the unbuttoned shirt scene!

Erm, is it normal in Bristol for babies to be in the theatre? Because there are are two in the Old Vic whinging incessantly and no one apart from me seems to be tutting. The only big baby in theatres in Bristol I know is fellow board member Ruby. Selling hannechalk's cinema ticket for Funny Girl tomorrow to the highest bidder...

I got a refund for Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace's tour show in Bristol last year. They decided an hour before that Vincent was unable to perform so the ensemble danced for about half an hour with Flavia doing the odd twirl, then a 30 minute interval, then another 30 minutes of dance. All credit to the ensemble, they were great, but the show was not as advertised so full refunds were given.

Me:I'd like to see Company. Friend:Meh, saw it years ago and it was OK. Me:Oh, Richard Fleeshman appears in his pants. Friend: I'm sorry, why have you not booked us tickets yet?!

Even if it does tour it’s bever going to be as big and spectacular as it is now. That's why I feel I want to see it as many times as possible in London 😀
