Sometimes social media managers can be more on top of it — unless they've been laid off. Did you try there?

It’s also the same Miss Saigon where the creatives didn’t employ Vietnamese leads because they figured Viennese can’t do musical theatre This person orders pho and expects Wiener schnitzel.

www.barrons.com/articles/what-actorsand-audiencescan-expect-when-we-return-to-the-theater-01590234852“It’s foolish to imagine people will be willing to gather with strangers in a dark room while they’re still worried about getting infected,” says Oskar Eustis, artistic director of New York’s Public Theater.
He should know. He was hospitalized with a grueling case of Covid-19 in March. It’s not just a flu, he warns. “I’ve had the flu. That was not like the flu.”
Moulin Rouge star Danny Burstein can identify. Soon after Broadway’s shutdown a fellow cast member was diagnosed with Covid-19, and Burstein found himself hospitalized, testing positive and fighting for his life about a week later. “You wish so hard it had never happened to you,” he says. “It’s a sad and lonely experience.”

There will be no collective comeback for Broadway’s 41 theaters. Shows will likely resume performances in waves, with one insider speculating that the hefty long-runners like Wicked, The Lion King, and Hamilton will come back first, followed by smaller-scale shows from more recent seasons like Come From Away and last season’s best-musical winner Hadestown. And then, finally, the musicals from this past truncated season that either had the chance to open or were just about to can pick up; Jagged Little Pill, Six, and the Company revival potentially among them. www.vanityfair.com/style/2020/05/broadway-struggles-with-how-it-can-reopen

I'd like to see Six. It was the show I was most anticipating this season and I'm slightly disappointed in myself for not seeing it in Chicago or Boston!

8. I don't think ALW liked the Hooper film...… I will say my twitter feed had never discussed James Corden as much as they did the afternoon this was on.

This looks like basically all the regular B-rolls in one clip. It includes Betsy Struxness (the tall white woman with short blonde hair), who had left the show by the time the show was filmed in whole.
It's not a trailer for the film.

Aladdin was recorded in the West End and is supposed to be available soon. I would assume this would be on D+ rather than a third party site like Broadway HD. I suspect Disney will sit on Aladdin until it's finished its run on Broadway and US tour. The US tour closed during coronavirus. It was set to close soon anyway.

Just so no one gets their hopes up too early: "Due to licensing issues, the Next to Normal musical screenings will be available only to TheaterWorks subscribers and single-ticket buyers. Details at twhartford.org.
It is not currently clear if it’s possible for non-subscribers to purchase tickets for the screenings, will post update when details are clarified."

There's a new website that aggregates performances on a calendar! You may need to refresh the page when you land on it. But it's extremely convenient. curtaintimes.com/

I do really like Randy Rainbow's work as a whole, but yeah, the tonal shift was jarring. Even if his video for Sondheim wasn't as pointed or sassy as his own work.

I was surprised at the negativity I saw on my own social media feeds about Randy Rainbow. I have a few theories:
* he reminds people of how enthusiastic about theatre they were when they were kids, because there is definitely an unabashed vibrancy you don't see from a lot of performers. * his videos are clever but also silly and are very big with the #resistancemom Baby Boomer set, who some may find cringey, * he's theatre-adjacent, not really making his career in theatre but definitely playing homage to it on a regular basis. But he's not in the "cool kids" group. * he's obv an excellent video producer so the format of his segment was markedly different than everyone else's stripped-down self-tapes and may have been perceived as showing off, though the costumes, saturated colors, and green screens are basically what he's famous for.

My smart tv has been revolutionary in how I watch and what I watch. I think I watch more on YouTube than ‘real’ tv these days. I follow various vloggers, mainly travel who are still releasing content because they all seem to run with a significant backlog. The quality of content is incredible. And the other week I used the internet browser app on the tv for the first time to access the Wind In The Willows recording which looked stunning on a large screen in high definition. There’s no way I’d enjoy any of the broadcasts on a phone or iPad. Smart TVs are not that expensive nowadays so for anyone who does like the idea and is saving loads of £ on going out, now may be the time? There are two TVs in my house and neither of them are smart. They're both flatscreen but pretty old. One (the larger, newer one) has a Roku and one I use only for my Nintendo Switch (I inherited it so it was free). And there's a YouTube app available for the Switch. It's a pretty sweet setup! If you're saving money on going to the theatre right now, you may be able to find a refurbished flatscreen that works with this kind of thing. All you need is a way to plug in a streaming stick.

I like to stand outside my house and then run inside just before hitting "play," as if my train had been stalled.

I try to watch streaming theatre on my TV via the YouTube app on the Roku or my Switch. It's a lot more enjoyable that way.

I just bought a Coolhaus ice cream sandwich for later. It's two big cookies with ice cream between them. Definitely something I can't finish in one sitting! cool.haus/product/packs/sammies/

Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley had Trevor Nunn, John Caird, Frances Ruffelle, Michael Maguire (now a divorce attorney), Anthony Crivello, Terrence Mann, Randy Graff, and Judy Kuhn on Stars in the House today! It is fascinating and funny. Tons of stories about creating the show... and transferring the show to Broadway.
Be sure to watch their performance of Confrontation.

Thanks! Oh, no, the tahini has some paprika and salt in it, so it wouldn't be good as a sweet breakfast. But I will make do!

I had a dinner only of side dishes last night from a Mediterranean seafood restaurant down the street. Today I ate more of it! Herring salad, tahini, and eggplant with flatbread. Nothing wrong with that. That's just tapas or meze. My favourite kind of food. Lots of little bite size dishes with lots of different flavours. That's given me an appetite for some now. Going to look on deliveoo and see what I can find for tonight. Oh, totally. I love tapas. And banchan. And dim sum. Anything in small dishes as long as it fills me up and is tasty! I STILL have tahini left over...
