True - choreography by Ellen Kane (eh) and a composer might suggest play with music though.

I think what's happened here is exactly how I feel about the state of London theatre in general.
New work like Opening Night that is (in my eyes) bold and fresh can't succeed and we have to endure rubbish like 2:22 and Heathers until the end of time.

Have a feeling this might need to move to musicals based on what I'd already heard - the debate of 'musical or play with music' starts here

Do we think this show will be a tough ticket? Lord no. Its not like anyone announced to be in it so far is a famous which is how previous revivals have worked. This'll be a doddle to get tickets for.

Oh yeah! Russ closed it according to a Google I cannot remember when I saw it, but I had Neil Morissey as Fagin (yes, Bob the Builder-jokes were made) and Samantha Barks as Nancy. Touring version of the Drury lane production

Was that off the back of “Search for a Nancy” or whatever the BBC program was called? It was Jody Prenger but I saw Kerry Ellis too. I think it was Rowan Atkinson? Unless I’m getting my productions confused. Kerry replaced Jodie. It was Rowen first, then Omid took over. Can't remember if someone followed him or if he was the last Griff Rhys Jones definitely did it at some point, and I vaguely remember Russ Abbot did too (possible I'm making the last one up)

Drury lane has something in Nov-Jan though and it's not exciting, so whatever the cool thing is isn't until Feb at the earliest? Hasn't someone already mentioned it's Elf? Oh, well yes it's that.

This does sound worse with every new bit of info that comes out about it Is it just Kym Marsh you don't like or is it the show generally? Oh I have nothing against kym marsh personally, but all the feedback from 2022 was...not great, the modernisation is entirely unnecessary, and now throwing in a stunt cast of this type just makes it feel like panto rather than a musical

Only want to see Simon if I'm honest - rest of the cast is very dull.

Two of my friends thought this was literally the worst thing they'd ever seen - which I sort of understand in a way.
It's right on the edge for me if not working at all, but I still thought Sheehy was very good so ended up with 3 stars.

Apologies if it’s already been answered but how easy/hard is it to win the daily lottery for this? I’ve tried everyday since it opened and never won 😞 Same

A revival of Follies, using the 1971 script and the National Theatre set but with a bigger string section and a much more expensive, more opulent set of designs for the Loveland sequence, at Drury Lane when Frozen closes. I can dream, can't I? And we get Jo and Janie to do it again? SOLD

The one thing I just could not wrap my head around and what I kept wanting to shout out was “Why did you take the role, then?!” if she hated it so much. Well one example, how did Catherine Tate end up in The Enfield Haunting? The answer to that (and probably the answer to this question too) was £££

She’s filming a TV drama for Paramount Plus at the moment, after her film Pretty Red Dress, for which she received a BIFA acting nomination. She has two kids under 2 so it’s unlikely she’ll want to tour any time soon. Hoorah, we're safe.

She was a perfectly acceptable alternate Juliet in ‘& Juliet’. The dictionary definition of vanilla but she sang it ok. This made me HOWL. at least she could sing it as opposed to the lead

Dorian Gray, closely followed by Till The Stars Come Down - both spectacular in their own way.

Would anyone mind sharing a break down of the prices? I signed up but no sign of it in my inbox or junk mail yet. Stalls and Circle 158/128/89/79/64 Upper 79/64/48/39/29 Balcony 48/39/29/24 Oh that's MORE than reasonable

Prices aren’t as obnoxious for this as I was expecting and yes Fourth Wall Live are a more secure producer. I expect we’ll see a few more names announced in the weeks and months leading up to August Exactly. This'll have more theatre names in it that what we know, the LMTO orchestra and a producing team with a track record for quality (as opposed to the others we've discussed at length)- prices are fine.

Speedy this ain't.
What it is, once it settles into itself after about 20 minutes, is actually weirdly charming.
No one in this van really sing (apart from the two young female leads) which makes the choices of having a number of songs...odd, but it weirdly adds to the charm of working class London for me.
It IS too long - someone needs to take some scissors to the beginning and help it get into its stride a bit quicker. That said, I loved Bunny Christie's design (she never misses) and actually liked Ben Powers adaptation.
It's 3.5 stars for me currently (but as I round up to whole stars as a rule, it's closer to 4 than it is to 3) - I certainly was nowhere closer to leaving at the interval.
Of the three shows playing at the NT at the moment, this is my favourite of them.

Oh I'd guess that we've seen the last of Scherzy as Norma in the UK, and probably the last of this production here. She'll want to take on other roles, and any huge A List star will want to take over on Broadway as the pay will be so much better (a proper A Lister can easily earn 50-75k a week on Broadway and that aint happening here) Sad, but I can't see us getting this back any time soon I too don’t see it retuning but those kind of salaries are already being paid over here..! They are but it's not nearly as common here as it is on Broadway - it's standard there, it's largely in exceptional circumstances here.

This tour will inspire lots of bad behaviour posts, me thinks I was literally about to write '"don't cancel me but audience behaviour will be dreadful"...

I don't think it will come back to London. It will go down in theatre history as one of those shows you can say "I was there". However, in this case, I hope I am wrong as I would dearly love to see it again. I'd LOVE to see it again too, but Jamie will have other projects (and as he's very publicly said, if Scherzinger had said no the project wouldn't of moved forward) and he'll want to build on the success of Sunset in his next projects. It did feel like lightning in a bottle, but I'd love to see her do it again...

All that being said, let me ask- how do you all think Hannah Waddingham would do as Norma in this production? Stick her in the turban and some fabulous costumes please but I'm game for Wadders Norma
