Thank you for explaining, wiggymess - and for the code itself. I wish I had known sooner how to make it work but I had no idea that entering the code first would reveal tickets for an apparently sold-out show. To think of all that time I wasted and all the stress it caused me! Luckily for me there still were some tix and I thought it worth paying the extra £10 to be sure of a decent seat and avoid the Friday Rush lottery, which I'm not usually free even to enter. The info re the Changemon website is also really interesting, jamb0r, though I'm not sure how easy I'd find it in practice as I'm not very technical. And yes, thank you, @baemax, I tried clearing my cookies and everything else a fairly inexpert IT user could think of but of course the answer lay elsewhere. More than welcome. These things can be stressful sometimes! Glad u got there in the end. Received the code on email because I hadn't booked for the nt in a while. Interesting ...

No, my issue is that whenever and however I try, I only ever get "Sold out" for the whole run, so I can't even try to book. Refreshing makes no difference either - grr! Yes, when you visit the page it says they're all sold out, so you then enter the code on the left, BEFORE you've clicked through to any specific dates...

Btw, on the 'limited to 2 tickets' thing, is that for the whole run? *EDIT* Scrap that, completely wrong. Yes it is, got this error message: Tickets are limited to 2 per customer for this production. You will not be able to check out until you remove these tickets from your basket.

Aaaaaaaaaanyway Is there any news on the extension / ticket details? Given that press night is this Thursday, I imagine any planned extension will be announced if the reviews are a repeat of the Court ones on Friday. Lovely, ta

Rude? How? That's the second person you've accused of being rude on here. You're clearly much happier not engaging with people who have different opinions, so I'll just leave it there.

This 'anonymous' route is ill thought out, overused and doesn't interest me - dismissing the play for what it is and instead making assumptions that the reviews are based on who was involved rather than the play itself. I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed it, and despite your assumptions, that wasn't because of who was involved, mostly it's because I think it's an epic, heartfelt, warm, engaging, tense and beautiful piece of WRITING. Are you suggesting that I would never be disappointed by something written by a writer I'm a fan of? I don't understand your point. It's a bizarre argument to make in my opinion. The writer gets good reviews because he is a good writer, with a good track record, and he's just written another good play. Issue? Are you that desperate to portray your opinion as correct and everyone who enjoyed it wrong for thinking it was a great piece of theatre? Can't you just accept that YOU didn't like it, and it wasn't to your taste?

it's silly to dismiss all the attention as being about things other than the play itself. A strong point made often in the publicity for this play was that it sold out on the first day of booking, back in November 2016. That's when I booked, and did so on the strength of the writer's name and the Royal Court. For many others I presume it was also for Sam Mendes (I haven't seen much of his output but presumed if his name was attached it would be a big project). No-one at that point knew what the play was about (vaguely - the Troubles) or who would be cast, but the buzz had already started months before its first previews. It's a Sonia Friedman production so has also had that powerful machine behind it. I don't think this mass of attention is all due to the play itself. I also booked on the strength of the writer and the theatre. It's a very big jump then, to assume that Mendes was a big reason for the quick sell out. As you point out, it wasn't cast then, so you can't say the hype has been built on that either. The hype, realistically, mostly sat with the fact that Jez Butterworth is the writer. The current hype and attention it's getting are is due to the play itself. The reviews are a direct result of the quality of the play, of course. So it stands on its own merit now. Just because you didn't like the play doesn't mean it is getting the attention for any other reason than a LOT of people like it. It is critically acclaimed, that's a fact. Some have said it's a modern classic and one of the best they've seen in a long time. That's another reason for the hype, and again, a direct result of the actual play.

there's been loads more than that about Angels in America On BBC1 / Radio 5? I think that's rare these days (I hadn't noticed Angels in America reaching that far but I may have missed it). When I was younger there were lots of arts reviews on mainstream TV but these days its relegated to Radio 3 and 4, and even Radio 4 is cutting back, axeing Saturday Review. Lyn Gardner's blog has been cut from the Guardian and is now behind the Stage's paywall. I'm glad theatre is getting mainstream coverage - it would be nice if there was more of it rather than just when there's a TV star or Bond movie director's name attached. It's not only being focused on due to 'a TV star or Bond movie director' though, is it? It's because it has been incredibly well-received and is, regardless of your personal opinion, a huge success already, with a lot of buzz and hype around it. It's now opening in a major theatre in the middle of the West End, and I think it's great there's so much attention surrounding it. Hopefully it will attract 'non-theatre goers' who will be intrigued enough to keep coming. You didn't like it, that's fair enough, you don't understand all the adulation from the press and the majority of audiences, also fair enough (I have similar feelings with People, Places & Things) but it's silly to dismiss all the attention as being about things other than the play itself.

The BBC seem very invested in this Yes, another article on it on Radio 5 now (11.25 Sunday) - that's the third this week. Sam Mendes has just said it was a short time between read-through and stage - I wish they'd taken more! You do seem very actively troubled by how much you didn't like it, perhaps you should try and let it go now? Just a suggestion

Think I'm pretty much on my own in having enjoyed this (I've skimmed through this thread and get the gist that most didnt like it).
There are plenty of flaws, some bits that really didn't work, my main gripe being his solider friend who was a bizarrely underwritten and underdeveloped character I thought (and Ben Batt really overcompensated, which is a shame as I usually quite like him), but overall I enjoyed this and it completely flew by for me, I couldnt believe an hour had passed either time the curtain came down.
I thought Boyega was excellent and some scenes I found really disturbing and the final scene very powerful.
A lot of mixed responses from the audience as we were filing out, but did receive a fairly healthy ovation.
Thanks once again to theatremonkey for the Q3 tip! Seat great for this!

For me, it really doesn't matter if I can see the end coming or not, as long as I enjoy the journey. I'm not going to declare, say, Romeo and Juliet a complete write-off just because the prologue tells me exactly how it's going to end. And frankly it's sort of worrying if people think an unpredictable ending is *the* thing that denotes quality, it's thinking like that that leads to M Night Shyamalan movies. I don't know that The Ferryman is a five-star modern classic, I don't know how predictable I found the ending, but I do know that I enjoyed it the entire time I was watching it, and I look forward to seeing it again to see if that holds true. This is pretty much spot on with how I feel. Isn't the inevitability and the cycle of the ending essentially one of the themes? Twist endings are a completely different thing. There is an over reliance on them & audiences tend to expect them far too often.

Tricky, without knowing the set design, if it's another "Skylight" the front corners will have big problems. I'd go ends of F to D in that order, then chance C to A, then go G back. Q is great if taller and R has 16 and 17 with nothing in front, though. Ta, went row Q in the end, not sat there before, should be OK hopefully. Didn't want to risk cutting off a chunk of the stage.

Same prices across the run. Premiums £85/£95. Rest of stalls £65. Back rows £45. Dress circle mainly £65. Back row of Dress, all fo Upper and all of Balcony £19.50 Not quite. Previews 3rd to 7th October, all end pairs, plus Q and R stalls, all end pairs plus G dress circle are £19.50 as well. For those wondering, dress circle row G is worth grabbing in the main run. 17 and 18 clear in front, wrap legs around posts in 16 and 19, and good legroom under the rail. Not for the very short who will get the rail in view, but good if a bit distant for the rest. Closer than the balcony, for sure, and about equal to the upper circle. End stalls or Q / R best bet in your opinion?

Out of interest, when does everyone expect we'll get the announcement for Nov onwards? The programme in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs has only been announced up to mid-September, so ypu'd perhaps expect to hear within the month about the rest of the autumn up there. Maybe they'll have a Season Announcement then for all their planned activity in the autumn and winter? Ta, thought/hoped it might be soon. Always an exciting announcement personally

It got quite a dressing down on front row Comparing it to The Archers This is utter nonsense. 2 out of the 4 really liked it, 1 really wasn't taken by it and the other seemed pretty blase. How is that a dressing down? And the word 'Archers' was never said once, unless I'm mistaken. Just plain lying now, to try and back up your own opinion. Painful.
