All lift and no substance - she isn't as good as they are making her out to be. Yes the platter lift is impressive. But there is more to dancing the Salsa than a big lift taking up 10% of the time.

Wish I hadn't woken up to this. In no way is this a Paso.
Timing all over the place. Not enough basic work. Pimp slot wasted.

Dance Off - Charles v Lee
Lee eliminated

No surprise there then. Lee hasn't exactly been a favourite of the judges or the public.

But he wasn't the worst dancer tonight. But this isn't a dance competition.

He was very badly criticised by the judges. I didn’t think he was that bad and I often wonder what the tv disguises that we can’t see. Then again......I thought Joe Sugg looked like a stick man or a set of bent straws.

He may not have been the worst overall but he was bottom of the leader board this week so he's an odd person to choose to make a, it's not really a dancing competition argument.
He's spent most of his career annoying the public so no surprise he didn't even benefit from the standard bottom two bounce.

Lee didn't deserve to be in the Dance Off last weekend and if he had scored reasonable points may have been okay this week but being bottom of the leaderboard always meant he was likely to go. As a big fan of the gorgeous Nadiya I wanted him to stay in for a few more weeks but Charles was always going to be saved.

Shirley would have voted for Lee! Interesting. Was this her last minute be nice moment or was Lee better in some way?

Shirley would have voted for Lee! Interesting. Was this her last minute be nice moment or was Lee better in some way? I wondered that. Perhaps she considered that Lee's routine had more dance content. But I did agree with the rest of the judges in that I found Charles's routine more pleasing to watch.

Charles and Katie in the dance off apparently. Judges saved Charles (again). Katie goes.

Oh dear,if that doesn’t knock the stuffing out of Charles I don’t know what will. Less popular than Seann Walsh despite his very mediocre Charleston.
Start packing for next week Charles!

Charles is clearly not popular but he could have been above Seann in the public vote and still been in the bottom two.

Why does he not get votes? Not the kiddies' choice? What soap is he on? Is it one the kids watch?

Charles clearly not liked by the public for some reason....don't know what. He is a far better dancer than some of them, and I suspect there is only a limited time the judges can save him before they bow to public pressure!

I watched on Saturday to rubberneck the “dance of shame” and I ended up wondering if there was some sort of background info about him I was missing. I still can’t work out the criteria for being on this show. If Danny John Jules was in Starlight Express (which admittedly I have not seen) does that not make him a trained dancer? Or do they just think it was so long ago? (Apologies if this has already been discussed)

Or do they just think it was so long ago? (Apologies if this has already been discussed) There's no rule against trained dancers - even trained dancers don't often have a lot of ballroom and Latin experience. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned - I'd be delighted with a whole series full of trained dancers. Then it would actually be Strictly Come DANCING, not Strictly Come let's use a load of props so we only have to learn 30 seconds of actual dancing...

Oh yes the props and the "story telling" have completely taken over the dancing. I am amazed none of the judges (especially Shirley) has picked up on this. Len would have called it "faffing about"!

Len would lay down the law about certain points and it is a pity that Shirley doesn't do the same. As head judge with the casting vote she has a fair amount of power.

I’m conscious that we have two threads running about SCD at the moment. People are understandably posting across the spoiler thread and the main thread. The spoiler thread is intended for discussion about the spoiler, in other words the period between Saturday night’s performances and the results show on Sunday night. Could I suggest that after the results show on sunday night we lock the spoiler thread for the rest of the week so that SCD discussion takes place in one thread. Then we open the spoiler thread after the live show on Saturday.
Thoughts?

So it's apparently Vick and Seann in the dance off according to the spoiler. Judges saved Seann, Vick goes home.
