I was told that most are staying, including Alice and Sophie. Unless Martin wants to become the next Katie Rowley Jones I think he’ll leave, along with Sarah McNicholas (who I’m pretty sure is still trying to escape Rosa’s basement) and Bradley (because of the tour) I liked this for the joke about Sarah, it made me cackle and I couldn't pass it by. No other reason. 😂😂 I’ve got to be honest, when Rosa first appeared as Nessa I had to do a double take because I thought she looked a bit like Kate Middleton! (And Sarah being trapped in her basement is kind of an inside joke with me)

Oh I love that you can see Sarah leaving when she hasn't been in the show for nine months! 😂😂 What actually happened with Sarah? I think she broke her back and had to get surgery. She was supposed to be back in January I think (but then she was kidnapped by Rosa and is being held hostage until cast change)

You'll never please all of the people all of the time. Agreed. You're better of just getting rid of everyone and starting fresh. But they’ve got a fresh Glinda and look at you, still not happy 😂

Take from this what you will, but there's going to be disappointment come cast change. At least from what I've heard through my stagey grapevine. Sophie is staying isn't she. Great. This is September 2015 cast change all over again. Not really, Alice is unbeatable, there's no one better than her IMO and Sophie has got so much better!!

With the greatest respect, you said the same about Emma Hatton and now Alice is your favourite. Everyone is replacable. Rachel is the best I've seen, but I know that someone may come along who is even better. Thats the great thing about cast changes.

Emma is probably greatly enjoying the freedom of life way away from the Wicked goldfish bowl and who could blame her.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see Suzie back as Glinda as she seems to be free and Wicked love to Recycle cast members

Whilst we're on the topic of different leads, does anybody else have performers that you didn't get to see, and in hindsight would have absolutely loved to see and are gutted that you never did? For me, it's Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba. I was living in France when she had her West End stint, and with only limited trips back home I couldn't justify a trip to Wicked. From listening to clips of her on YouTube, she sounds like an absolute powerhouse, giving 110% at every performance. Did anyone see her in the role and have any reviews of her performance? For a Glinda it's Dianna Pilkington. I never saw her because I just wasn't into theatre when she was in the show. It wasn't until late 2010 when I made my first ever trip to the West End and was treated to the sublime pairing of Nikki and Louise. Listening to Diane on YouTube didn't make me feel like I was devastated to miss her, like in the case of Jenny, but after seeing her in Young Frankenstein and realising how naturally hilarious she is and how strong her voice is, I could just tell that she would have been a fab Glinda, and it was a shame that I missed her. Anybody else have any thoughts to share? I would have loved to have seen Idina (obvs) and Kerry Ellis. Rachael Tucker was my favourite Elphaba, followed closely by Jacqueline Hughes on the tour a few years ago. Dianne was my first Glinda, she was fabulous! I really didn't rate Louise Dearman in the role but I was a fan again after seeing her as Adelaide in the recent Guys & Dolls tour, what a part!

I’ve only seen the show once and that was a few days ago on the current tour, so honestly I’d love to see a lot of the West End Elphie’s/Glinda’s. Rachel Tucker is an obvious one and I’d love to have seen Dianne Pilkington.

I wish they would stop recycling cast members. There are so many talented girls for the roles of Glinda and Elphaba, so why keep rotating between Rachel, Willemijn, Alice and others all the time? There hasn’t actually been a brand new principal Elphaba since Louise (I think) which was about 5 years ago now.
I’d personally love to see Rachel John as Elphaba and i think she could well enough be in with a good chance this year after originating Angelica in Hamilton.

Hamilton cast change isn't until the end of November, and I wouldn't be surprised if she stays for a second year given the show's high profile. A lot of people have wanted her as Elphaba for years, but I've pretty much given up hope now.

I am quite surprised to see people talking about how the show needs to be made fresh again, when there've been two large cast changes in a row in London. I know we haven't had a "fresh to the show" Elphaba since 2010, but honestly I don't think that'll ever happen again, I'm surprised they did it with Amy Ross, and I don't mind if the greenies climb their way through the ranks first, they tend to be more vocally resilient that way. There are members of the current cast that I personally find to be a bit poor, but that's true of every Wicked cast I've seen and I don't think is endemic of a need for an immediate cast change. The current lot are pretty strong overall, and I'd happily sit through 5 of their shows over one Emma and Savannah one.
With regards to Alice, it does wind me up when a new generation of fans turn up and assume whoever the "current" Elphaba is must be the best ever based solely on the fact they are the current Elphaba, but actually having seen twenty one green girls, I do think you'd be hard pressed to find a lead as well rounded as her. Amy Ross gives a better acting performance (in my opinion) but Alice nails that score pretty well 8 shows a week and has missed fewer shows on average due to illness than anyone since Jenny DiNoia. Rachel Tucker, Kerry Ellis and Emma Hatton were all REALLY bad for the "only giving 25% for the first 4-5 shows of the week" thing, but if you catch Alice on a Wednesday matinee you'll get as good a performance as on a Saturday evening, the only difference will be the number of riffs.
I know her riffing is a cause of controversy, and I do agree a lot of her riffs are out of place and just for the sake of it, but she's possibly the most original vocalist the London production has had. Sure, for every great riff there are two that are not so great, but if she extends for another year she could work and refine that to the point where she's really giving something special every night.

Since Rachel Tucker left I've been hoping for the likes of Rachel John and Sabrina Aloueche. But given up hope now of ever getting a brand new Elphaba. Will be the same recycled ... #dull

Will be the same recycled ... #dull I would love to see Sabrina Aloueche as Elphaba Same - we’ve been talking about it for years! I remember in the Rachel & Louise days one of the strongest rumours was that they’d always said they would leave the show together, and that Sabrina & Gina Beck were set to replace. Gina came, but of course Rachel stayed for another contract.

Hopefully they steer clear from, shock horror, Emma Hatton.

I went to see the show Suzie Mathers and Oliver Savile are doing, it's basically a piss-take on musicals and there was a good line about arguing over who the best Elphaba is. They must have been reading this thread!

I don’t think there will be a fresh Elphaba ever again for lead, this is because it takes time to build stamina for the role. It makes complete sense that they line someone up as standby with the view to take over because they develop the stamina as standby and are ready to hit the ground running as lead.
Take Alice vs Amy Ross - taking all personal opinions or preferences or “one is better than the other” out of it, Alice started her lead contract strong and has been pretty consistent. Amy started out small and safe, regularly took shows off to build stamina and is now growing and developing. Had they given her a standby stint she would have hit the ground running like Alice did.
The producers aren’t stupid - why get someone else in, train them up and build their stamina when there is already an actress playing the role consistently that wants to renew her contract? It doesn’t make sense. Even if the thirsty fans want something ‘fresh’....
