I hear on the grapevine that our favourite fifth cover Midwife may be expecting a promotion to fourth cover in the next cast... I hope not. I think that sort of promotion will go to her head. She'll go full on diva at stage door and then demand the biggest dressing room. It won't end well This is very true. It's important not to let the more insignificant cast members' ego grow too big. It's for the same reason that Dillamond hasn't got a single interesting line in the whole show

Can someone explain to me the joke behind the fifth cover Midwife? LOL! I'm always so confused when she comes into discussion. I feel I should pre-warn you, once you KNOW about fifth cover Midwife, you can't ever unknow it, so if you want to remain innocent then stop reading now... Fifth cover Midwife is a mythical being, forged in the fire of a 500 year war between the Wicked fans and the "Rent-heads". She is not a person but rather an idea, the belief that if you close your eyes and hum The Wizard and I continually, eventually a cast change announcement will come. Her royal highness the cover of five teaches us that no matter how many times you get told to wait patiently for Wicked UK to tweet, with enough meditation, repentance and blind trust in Her, you can force the Wicked powers that be to tell you who the new Elphaba is. Fifth cover Midwife is a part of all of us, she is the blood running through our veins, the ground we walk upon, and the air we breathe. She is life itself, the final digit of infinity, the point at the edge of the universe, our very existence. I dedicate my life to Her service, for she is truth, purity, and all I crave. All hail our saviour, the fifth in line to the Midwife throne.

Big announcement? He didn't say it was to do with cast change then? Well what else can it be, we're expecting the announcement and by "big announcement" he obvs meant cast change! Wicked London consider a big announcement to be adding a new ice cream flavour to the interval trolly!

I know that the Wicked UK Tour has also been fully cast, so maybe we could be heading for a joint announcement...
If the words "Ashleigh" and "Gray" are tweeted in that order at any point today then I may have a meltdown.

It does just say "West end casting" though but I guess they could still announce the tour cast too.

I'm putting money on Alice. Just a thought... what's Bradley Jaden up to now the tour has been cancelled?

Casting has been announced for the West End production of Wicked, which is now in its 11th year at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Taking over as everyone's favourite witches from Monday 24 July 2017 will be Alice Fearn as Elphaba and Sophie Evans as Glinda.
Fearn joined the production as standby Elphaba last year and now takes on the role full time. Her other credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Les Miserables. Evans shot to fame on the BBC talent show Over the Rainbow and went on to star in The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.

Further new additions to the cast include Bradley Jaden (Les Miserables, Wicked UK tour) as Fiyero, Melanie La Barrie (Matilda, Les Miserables) as Madame Morrible, Andy Hockley (The Phantom of the Opera) as The Wizard, Jack Lansbury (West End debut) as Boq and Laura Pick (The Sound of Music) as standby Elphaba.

well, the only thing that would bring me to see this in the near future would be Bradley as Fiyero

Well seeing as there's a UK tour coming to Bristol and Cardiff I don't think you'll be seeing me at the AV soon! Again not trying to start arguments, but my main problem with Alice's voice is it sounds very young from the audios I've heard, it doesn't sound defiant or threatening or mature enough for Elphaba in Defying Gravity for me. Does anyone else agree? Maybe I'm being silly.

Well I've still not seen Ms Fearn so plenty to keep me going, plus a new Standby Elphie and it looks like Jessamy is leaving too so another green person to try to catch too!

not keen on seeing the new Glinda, is the Wicked Cast allowed to tweet holidays or is it the same as it is with the Les Mis Cast and they are not allowed to ?

Very happy to know I'll still have a chance to see Alice. Pleased to see Sophie get a big role too. Bit of a kick in the teeth for Carina not to be promoted, as she's been involved longer than Alice, you'd think the Wicked recycler could have given her the tour.

Not overly excited about the Elphaba casting, but quite happy with Glinda and Fiyero.

So pretty much as expected then. I'll definitely be going to see the new cast - I haven't seen Alice yet and it'll be good to see so many new principles. Very excited about Bradley Jaden, he was a great Enjolras, but I've not heard of any of the others.
