As much as would love to see waitress finally come over I have a feeling it will be Mean Girls which is very exciting as I'm addicted to the current cast album previews could start in march in time for the Oliviers and the show could open in April.

Another vote for Mean Girls in here next, or Waitress, though it doesn’t really feel like the right theatre for Waitress. I’d love to see Waitress as well but I just can’t see it in the Savoy. Surely Marisha has to do the last performance? I can’t see a cast change happening, not unless any of the performers have other commitments and can’t continue, so I expect the Effie’s will keep the same schedule and they’ll have Marisha do the final performance. Given she does the majority of shows I just can’t see either of the other two being given the gig. |

Think it will be too soon for Mean Girls, next year they will be more focused on the US tour. so talk of Waitress and Come From Away, we probably get a Shakin' Stevens/Tom Jones pukebox musical, start issuing the sickbags now.

I want Waitress but I'm not sure if the Savoy is the right house for it (maybe the Piccadilly?). Dear Evan Hansen seems more suited to the Phoenix or Wyndham's and Mean Girls might take a while to cross over. Maybe a tour could jump in to fill the house until Mean Girls arrives.
It will probably be something like Hairspray/Shrek/Legally Blonde/Evita until the new proper production is announced.

Aww this is sad. I was expecting it to be a long runner, 5-6 years. But it's had a decent run. Hoping they open DEH or Come From Away next. Or maybe the awaited Groundhog Day transfer. 2 years is still a respectable run! Considering Dreamgirls on Broadway only did 3 years, for the London production to come close is pretty good Shows closing shouldn’t be seen as sad because we’d never get anything new if every theatre had a long Runner I suspect it’s either Dear Evan Hansen or Waitress for the Savoy, Mean Girls I imagine will be late 2019 or early 2020 and probably at a slightly bigger theatre than the Savoy like the Piccadilly or the Shaftesbury |

Can someone please tell me how Dear Evan Hanson could find its way to the stage of this major west end theatre and expect to sell based on its rather odd premise?

Waitress could go there if they cast a high-recognition celebrity in it, one with musical talent, it’s not as if Funny Girl is the most mainstream of musicals and obviously Sheridan is what got it to the Savoy.
If the current tour of Hairspray with its current set ends up in a West End theatre as mentioned above I will cry.

From what I’ve seen, there’s a red curtain, some painted flats and loads and loads of PowerPoint projections. It does its job to be fair, and it means that tickets are pretty cheap, I paid £30 for a “premium” in Cardiff. For me the music and the story of Hairspray is always entertaining and moving whatever the set but this production has no place in a West End theatre! |

I could definitely see Anastasia going there, and there have been plans to open multiple international productions, including London: personally I think if a Broadway transfer is going in this seems to be the most plausible. |

Although everyone is speculating about musicals, I wouldn't be shocked if All About Eve takes the Savoy or the Phoenix if there isn't a playhouse available. |

Didn't think about how many seats the Savoy actually had and I've been in there a couple of times. Anastasia would be more likely a month of previews and then will open in April 2018 in time for summer atm. |

I fully believe that Mean Girls will eventually open at the Savoy. It's a very similar show in terms of audience to the likes of Dreamgirls and Legally Blonde and I'm sure they'd be confident of it doing well at that venue.
That said, as I said in the other thread I just think it's a year or so too early for Mean Girls, based on the usual time period of Broadway to West End transfers.
Doesn't mean it won't happen of course, but I'd expect something else to slot in to the Savoy pre- Mean Girls.

Come From Away is at The Abbey Theatre in Dublin this Christmas so they are clearly trying it out with the intent of a London run but I imagine if it does make it to London it would be as a limited run in a small venue. |

Mean Girls will be a bit no matter where it goes as long as it is a medium sized theatre. The film is hugely popular. I don't think it matters which theatre it chooses. Savoy, Adelphi or Piccadilly I imagined it would be a great fit.
