Anyone else watching this? Fab tennis. If it goes on longer, Duchess of Cambridge will have to go home to put the kids to bed before end of the Ladies' Final. 😂😂

For those tennis fans who also watch Coronation Street, it looks as if the Duchess of Sussex had her hair done by Maria of Weatherfield as it was rather reminiscent of the styles Maria recently gave to Angie and Tracy which came in for much praise on the street!

Not appreciating that all the news coverage is phrased as "Serena lost" when they should be celebrating Kerber's win instead - she earned it!

Time to get the strawberries and cream out - it’s my favourite fortnight of the summer. Who is watching Wimbledon this year then? A few surprises yesterday with some seeded players losing in the first round!

I for one am shocked that Sharapova has once more failed, its almost as if the drugs did work.

Sharapova isn't the player she was plus has had injury issues.

Plus obviously, no more drugs.......
I used to love Wimbledon but the sheer unrelenting tedium of Pete Sampras and his game put me off the men's tournament, and the dominance of the Williams sisters (moreso on grass) made the women's draw dull as well.
Federer is of course a dream to watch when playing well and the women's game is more open now than for any time in the last 40 years. Osaka despite being knocked out is exciting, she reminds me of Mauresmo with her inconsistency

The Brits did very well today with quite a few going through to next round. James Ward was unlucky not to win after a great start. Looking forward to some exciting tennis in next few days

I really enjoyed the James Ward match, such a shame he didn’t win as it was very close. Lovely to see the Duchess of Cambridge there supporting the Brits.
Andy Murray and Serena Williams just announced as mixed doubles pairing!

Lots of upsets so far but the big favourites still around, nice to see the Brits having a good tournament so far in Andy's (singles) absence.
I'm going to be on Centre Court on Saturday and Monday so hoping for some good matches. Would be nice to see Andy in the doubles.

I'm on Centre Court tomorrow - a shame it's the less exciting half of both draws but Edmund v Verdasco should be interesting, and I'm not going to complain about getting to see Djokovic!
Plus the doubles start tomorrow so plenty to watch on the outside courts as well.

I usually forget to do the ballot and I have no tennis connections so I’m not complaining about not getting tix...cept it would be nice to go. Enjoy yourselves you lucky ones. I’m in front of the telly, in dressing gown with a nice glass of wine....
Some of the commentary annoys me, they feel they have to comment between every point but I quite like Mac and Boris and Martina.

It’s John Inverdale and Andrew Castle who are the worst for wittering on about nothing. Today John was off on one because he couldn’t believe Germans had Monopoly.

French Open coverage on ITV is far preferable to Wimbleedon simply because the ad breaks give you respite from obnoxious buffoon Andrew Castle (who still hasn't got over the fact he never won a match in his life) and sexist boorish old git John Inverdale.

Ironically, on last Sunday's review of the 2018 Championship, Andrew Castle said the art of commentary is knowing when to say nothing.

I mean does the man have any self awareness, he pretty much fills every second of airtime with his pointless wittering.
Inverdale I don't mind when he presents the rowing but as a commentator he just goes on and on.

John Inverdale was a much better presenter of the Today at Wimbledon programme than Claire Balding. I do enjoy a lot of the commentators at Wimbledon. The downside of watching the French Open is the adverts every 10 minutes (that are usually the same adverts too!).

John Inverdale is more a "Front man" than a commentator in my mind. Claire Balding is a fine presenter but her forte is Horse Racing or Equestrianism. We certainly don't have the great commentators of yesteryear though in any sports.

We certainly don't have the great commentators of yesteryear though in any sports. I just don’t think he’s very good in any role. They’re clearly lining Claire Balding up to take over from Sue who seems to have reduced her role this year already. I don’t think she’s quite the right fit and doesn’t have the right rapport with the players. I think they should try and find a former player to take the role but I’m not sure Tim or Greg have the right warmth.

Tricky one. Clare does her h9mework and brings enthusiasm to whatever she is asked to front. I think she could do the job well. But they do need a player too.

Watching Kyrgios argue with the referee and then listening to him being interviewed makes me feel like I'm still stuck at work with my Year 6s.

Kyrgios is so rude and disrespectful, I don’t find him entertaining at all and wish people wouldn’t make excuses for him. He can clearly play so just needs to drop the attitude and tricks otherwise he’ll never win a grand slam. I thought Nadal played excellent and is always dignified, not getting into putting other players down when being interviewed.
With regards to a new presenter, I’m not sure who could take over from Sue Barker - big shoes to fill. I don’t think Tim Henman would want to do it since he has other commitments at Wimbledon. Agree that a former player would be best. Claire is a decent presenter and professional but I think it shows that she doesn’t have the passion for the sport that others do.

Annabel Croft. She is very good on Eurosport when they show tennis. I wonder if she could be tempted to defect?
