So no Andy Murray at Wimbledon due to his recent injury situation according to his posting on social media. Gutted. Wimbledon just won't be the same without his shining personality and witty repartee...

Apparently the BBC are now considering bringing out Cliff Richard to sing a few songs to maintain British interest.
Is Tim Henman available?

Having recently read Andre Agassi's autobiography I shall be watching in a completely different light. Let's just say backstage resembles how you would imagine behind the scenes of America's Next Top Model.

The tickets I have mean I was unlikely to see Murray but it's still a shame he has pulled out though understandable given how long he was out injured.
Hard to see past Federer or Nadal for the men's but lots of intrigue on the women's side with about 8 players with a good chance.

Mmmmm would have watched Wimbledon World Cup matches if Andy was playing, no reason to watch now.
Andy done the right thing in pulling out, obviously he hasn’t recovered from a major hip injury and if he had he was well short of match fitness, so in no condition for Wimbledon. Needs to recuperate and play some ATP matches to get his fitness up and aim for Wimbledon next year.

I love Wimbledon! It’s a shame that Murray won’t be playing but probably the right choice for him long term. I’m a big fan of Nadal but not sure on his chance of winning since grass isn’t his best surface. Would be nice actually to see a surprise winner. I’m keeping an eye on Cilic after Queens and think Denis Shapovalov will be a future winner one day.

I greatly admire Murray, but I really think it is time he retired gracefully rather than beating himself up physically to try to get back into major competitions following his recent hip surgery. He has been there, done that and got the T-Shirt, as well as plenty of trophies and gold medals and a knighthood!
He could retire now and become a coach or a pundit and join the likes of McEnroe and Navratilova who still play in 'oldies' matches and continue to earn money and remain in the public eye commentating or coaching while enjoying his family life more.
I just don't see why he needs to go on because, as a relatively late starter, he is unlikely to match the longevity records of his colleagues like Nadal and Federer, so what is he now trying to achieve other than a few more years trying to keep up with younger and stronger players in better physical condition?

I exchanged a few words with the lovely Johanna Konta, my new BFF, a few weeks ago in Nottingham. Get me! She is as charming in real life as she appears to be on the TV.

I think it was the Duchess of Kent who once said that the highlight of Wimbledon nowadays was the sight of Grigor Dimitrov changing his shirt half way through a rest break on a hot day and really who am I to argue with royalty?

I seem to remember Tim Henman has done a bit of commentating and at least he had some anecdotes to tell about the legends he has played against.

Great tennis but the commentary a bit iffy. I suppose by the end of the fortnight my standards will have lowered.

Fun fact. As he approaches the end of his quarter final, Lord Roger of Federer has only served three* double faults.............
.......in the entire tournament.💪🏆 Is he human?
Edit: *four. I think that might be my fault. Ooops.😔

I do admire his skill and staying power but we could do with a bit of drama.

Did you just see that bit of business with Maggie Smith?
The wave from a stranger she thought was at her, but wasn’t. Then the confuddlement over the hats.
Very Maggie.

Roger Federer is out, Wimbledon is over.
This year has had more drama than the tournament has seen in years, so I don't understand why anyone is begging for more!

Go Rafa! And we've seen quite enough of Richard E Grant and Trevor Nunn, thank you very much BBC. And tonyloco, you've obviously started something now, thanks very much and all that! If they put Andy Murray back in the commentary box I may just find I have some urgent thistles to crochet.

Good riddance to Federer. Hopefully Nadal will win for the first time in a while.
As expected some very interesting insights from Murray as a pundit and commentator. A big step up from the standard banal observations from the tired out of touch brigade the BBC usually employ. How McEnroe can earn that much from his incoherent rambling is beyond me.
Looking forward to the women's semis tomorrow. Would love a Kerber vs. Serena final at this point. A great contrast in styles.

Great matches yesterday for the men’s quarter finals and lovely to see Nadal going over to Del Potro at the end - such gents! I’m hoping for a Nadal v Isner final.

Aaagh! When will stupid, snobby Wimbledon let them wear colours? I have just watched the Isner/Anderson tie break, forgetting they changed ends at 6-6 (I'd left the room) and got totally muddled up. (I know. It doesn't take much.) But it is so annoying. Both wearing hats, both right handed, both tall, wearing white...I thought the other one had won the set.

This is such a dull match so far as predicted. Well I did put a 50p bet on last week for Isner to have the most tournament aces. £2.25 winnings coming my way!

Wow. What stamina.
To be known for the longest match in Wimbledon history and then to be known for the longest semi final in Wimbledon history is some record.
I need a lie down.

Ahh felt really sorry for Isner at the end there, understandably looking gutted. Looking forward to Nadal v Djokovic now. Should be interesting with the roof closed so they can play on until 11pm now.
