It definitely tests my stamina that’s for sure! What I’ve found is if I do that sort of theatre going, doing touristy stuff gets dropped and plenty of rest in between shows is essential, as is coffee and plenty of food to keep energy levels up. Once the binge is over, I definitely try to have a break from theatre going for a while so I can recharge the batteries. I don't eat just before or between shows so for me theatregoing = no dinner that day. I think that's the main reason why my body can't cope with doing more than a couple of days in a row. I find if I go to too many events too close together, my memories of what I went to blur into one and I lose track of what I’ve seen and when (I went out pretty much every night during Valentines week but some of what I went to seems to have happened aeons ago) Yes, there is that issue too. I've seen both Showstopper & Mischief Movie Night for several days in a row at my local theatre & it's particularly hard to remember what happened in which show, or indeed what happened full stop, when it's the same people in the same costumes each night & only the plot is different.

Off to Wales for a few days tomorrow.
Tuesday - Billionaire Boy
Wednesday - How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying - Cardiff
Thursday - Kinky Boots matinee Bristol and My Fair Lady - Penarth
Saturday - My Fair Lady again - Chelmsford
As an obsessive theatre goer I've been asked if I don't find it all tiring. I honestly don't. On the contrary I often get home around midnight feeling wide awake and still buzzing ! I did 9 shows in one week last June including about 500 miles public transport travel and suffered no ill effects

I just can't resist a good offer: The UK Tour of Miss Saigon is ending in Cologne now and while I have no love for this show, I've heard a lot of good things about this particular production and cast. In a move which I think London theatres should copy, the German producers are offering left-over single seats dotted around the auditorium at the price of the cheapest seat category a few days ahead. Today they opened this offer for the last week and I leapt at it. Now I'm sitting in what must be one of the best seats in the house (Row 9, in the middle) for 39.90€ (£35) instead of 115€ (£100) at the very last performance on Sunday evening Which also happens to be the height of carnival season here... (I wonder what the English/Asian cast will be making of it all )

(I wonder what the English/Asian cast will be making of it all ) ATG did do that for Wicked in Manchester recently; albeit rather silently. Single seats dotted around stalls and dress circle (generally when there were more than 10 unsold) for £25. I was very tempted and did have one in my basket a couple of times... but then each time remembered I hate the show. Back to you though, your in for a treat!

Especially as I believe you have said that you're retired so I must be about half your age & have far less stamina.

I sometimes have a sleep on the coach; managed almost an hour on my way to Nottingham last Saturday, which helps. Getting older (I'm 63) I find I need less sleep actually.
In late May I'm seeing Hamilton(again!) on a Wednesday evening, following a "friendship matinee" of Abbaphonic at the Albert Hall I shouldn't really be going to. I already had an amateur 42nd Street booked in Blackpool the following afternoon. By the time I got home from London I would be going back there from Kent in under 6 hours and still be a bit tight for time to reach Blackpool. I've therefore booked an overnight National Express coach. Not done that before so will be a real test of my stamina not to drop off during that show.

We had a 9 hour delay on our return flight from the Dominican Republic some years ago and I had booked that evening's showing of Chicago, so we arrived home about 90 minutes before the show started and actually went (I'm too tight to lose the money) but regretfully both fell asleep during the performance. Not all the way through, thankfully.

Follies and Bad Girls today. My 498th and 499th theatre things, according to my trusty spreadsheet. The addiction is inches away from a milestone!

. Captain Marvel at the cinema on Friday I want to see that but they tend to take a few weeks to reach us in the Highlands. Meanwhile I'm contemplating All Is True, having first been very reluctant as I get impatient with British films starring Dench. You could forgive people in other countries thinking the only screen actors we actually have are her, Smith, Nighy, Imrie and that Other One.

Thanks for that tip. I was aware of the Wivenhoe MFL and it's a shame there's no matinee as I've nothing booked on Sat 16th yet.
Unfortunately the last train back I could catch to get to my home in Kent is at 22.23. MFL usually runs between 2 hr 45 and 3 hrs so there would be a risk of having to leave before the end which I hate doing. I therefore had to cross that one off my list.
