To be fair, it was one of the better weeks for the costume team. Really?! I thought nearly everyone looked dreadful! The costume department are having an awful year so far, but this week was one of their worst!

There's usually one routine that is memorable for good or bad reasons, but the only outstanding thing last night was the mediocrity of it all. Music, costumes, concepts, choreography, performances were all a bit... meh! Must do better.

Hope he goes out tonight, I don't like him or Karen! That's you off the party list when I win the sweepstake then. 🙃

Oh dear...
The cake incident just about summed up the show tonight.
They’re an odd bunch of ‘celebs’ this year with some even odder partnerships: the older men seem to think they’re significantly better than they really are (top of the list is the pink-clad cricketer), and some of the women lack any personality (with poor Katie lacking any dance ability either, bless her...) So it’s left up to the pros to do all the work- providing the dance content and the charm. Let’s face it- these days the pros are now far more celeb than the ‘celebs’!
I ria-lly don’t fink ah can tayke much mowa of Staycey Doolay’s aksent. I used to like some of her ‘documentaries’ where she spoke normally... I bet the Queen was quite relieved she didn’t turn up for her MBE.
I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a couple more than Vik and that Graziano. He needs a good few more of Craig’s put-downs.
And I got a bit fed up with the ‘It’s my mum’s/dad’s/granny’s favourite song’ routine. I hope that’s knocked on the head PDQ.
Loved Lauren and AJ’s quick-step, the Doc and Janette’s Paso (great to hear some proper music which took me by surprise) and loving Joe who seems a nice enough chap with no ego and plenty of quiet enthusiasm (and some ability) for every new dance.
Dare I mention the charleston? No, I don’t think I can...

Caught this on catch up this afternoon.
Very poor show. All the dances are suffering from unsuitable music and a lack of the correct choreography - some of them are unrecognisable as a cha cha's or charleston etc. Graham's lack of dance ability is completely masked by the gimmicky routines. I am amazed the judges have not picked up on this lack of proper dance content and completely taken in by the showmanship. Let the public vote on the likeability but they should be focusing on the dancing.
Over and undermarking all over the place - Seann's routine was a shambles and completely overmarked.
The costumes are hideous! One girls outfit - I forget who - looked like the bottom half had been caught in a shredder!!

Should Graziano have been pulling all those faces in that Quickstep last night? I thought those shenanigans were restricted to Latin.

Back Street ‘Boys’ was stretching it a bit. The right person went... IMO.

Even though I knew the outcome from reading the spoiler results, and (genuinely) think that in this case that Charles was the better dancer all round, that was little emotional wasn't it?
BTW Backsteet’s back (alright)

Tess and Claudia's outfit have been diabolical this year. I don't know who the stylist is but they should be sacked. I could do a better job myself and so could they I imagine. That's my rant over. The right person went tonight but what a gracious response she gave and what an inspirational lady she is.

Only whizzed through the results show (to see Backstreet Boys and I am not ashamed)
But although she was no dancer, what a class act Katie is, I hope she at least really enjoyed her time on the snow.

It was gold but then faded into grey? Weird. I’m not impressed with the costumes so far. I always think they should get a real designer in to make suggestions! I know, I know, is a show and so show costumes are expected.

Cannot believe the adulterers were saved by the public, this is why we're the nation who voted for Brexit, terrible decision making....

Moving on...what do we think of the new category for next week, people? It is I think a choice between contemporary, theatre style and street? Or maybe someone caught the categories better.. I don’t mind opening out to get more people interested and I like a good contemporary dance but it does knock another nail into ballroom doesn’t it?

Yes, another nail in the ballroom coffin - but actually looking forward to it. At least it will be different. So much of this series so far has seemed like a repeat. Plus, after all, they are recognised dance styles. I cannot wait to hear Dame Darcey's critique on urban street dancing!! No doubt there will be an even split between the three styles. So I suspect some couples will be forced to do a style they are not comfortable with, despite the false smiles and the jollity!

I think it's fabulous, adding a welcome variety and intrigue to the show, musical week will be very interesting this year.

No point in having showdances in the final anymore if they can do all the contempo-wafting any other week!

I've been a bit disappointed how loosely the various dance categories have been interpreted this series, and to me the new category sounds like another step in thet direction. It means practically anything goes, which makes comparison between the dancers, and sensible marking, difficult. I'm no dancer (I literally dance like nobody's watching, indeed only WHEN nobody'd watching) but am quite pleased with myself for having learnt quite a bit of the terminology and theory behind some ballroom and Latin styles over the years. The new category seems a lot more unfocused and less 'professional', somehow. But we'll see! The dances will at least, I'm sure, be entertaining.

TBH each dance is becoming more of a showdance/smooth version of the style with the amount of time spent out of hold and not doing figures. Len wouldn't stand for this much faffing!

Well except for the many times he did. Len's - there wasn't enough content/time in hold/too much faffing line was as inconsistent as most of the judging.
Given that we have the AS, Salsa, AT, Charleston and now this it would be nice if they made the 10 dances a bit more traditional with less themes and props as a contrast but it seems unlikely and since fewer of the dancers come from a traditional ballroom/latin not all of them would be able to manage it anyway.

That's exactly it - there will be more "faffing"!

It was the right time for Katie to go. Charles and Karen are clearly not getting the votes from the public either. The gene pool has been very kind to Vick Hope too when we saw her parents.
It wasn't a great show and a lot of it seems so staged even the judges remarks and actions. Bruno leaps up, Shirley backs off and tries to look shocked Botox permitting, she turns to Darcy who puts a superior hand on her to comfort her.
I wonder who has murdered the English language more out of Stacey and Tess too?

Stacey Dooley reminds me of Paloma Faith. Definitely agree both visually and vocally.
Stacey is someone I've never been able to make my mind up on - she is a bit irritating and sounds like a vacuous Essex girl but she makes some good documentaries and has a great personality and no ego etc.

I know it is wrong to judge someone on their accent - but certain voice types do make it very difficult. Accent can get in the way of the message. It is certainly my experience of Ms Dooley. No matter how serious she is being, the accent stops me from engaging. Probably makes me a bad person. But there we are.
