I don't usually follow gossip and this "celebrity" culture malarkey.
In this instance I am completely AMAZED at the furore! Why? Is it simply because they are involved in a "family" Saturday night entertainment show on the BBC with a large audience? Who are people to judge their behaviour off screen? If no-one has ever had a drunken snog in their lives I feel very sorry for them!! Why the massive outrage?
Seann is NOT actually married and his relationship was apparently not the best anyway. As for Katya and Neil - how can I put this - their marriage is not - how shall I say - completely conventional.

This isn't surprising at all. SCD gets a lot of viewers and most viewers develop some level of interest in the people they are watching dance, the judges, the presenters etc. as people. There's a reason why most years the best dancer doesn't win and instead it tends to be someone that isn't as good but is more likable. It's part dance contest, part popularity contest. We've even had some of the relationships between the pros sold to us when Neil and Katya etc. regularly dance together. It'd be one thing if this had been reported to have happened by The Sun but there was no real evidence, as has been the case with previous 'Strictly Curse' affairs. Instead we have full blown photos and a video in newspapers meaning the public are finding out about this at the same time as Seann's (ex) girlfriend is. It's the most dramatic way possible for the news to be revealed and so it results in big reactions. It is being made highly public, so the public feel they have a right to comment and to make judgments. They feel further emboldened to do so when those involved in the situation (Rebecca with her statement and now Seann and Katya in their interview) address the public directly to speak about it. Despite the nature of humans and the fact that we are essentially animals (when only around 5% of animal species are monogamous), cheating is a huge taboo in society. Even open relationships where both parties are happy with the arrangement are a taboo and plenty will judge those that partake in them. There are a large amount of people that consider cheating an unforgivable offense. We're only now after how many centuries of civilization starting to get to a point where it's okay for people to not want to get married or to have children, where it's okay for people to not make vows of commitment and monogamy to one other human being during their life. Most people get either bored or plain unhappy with their lives. Most people feel bad about themselves in some way. Perhaps they think they're unattractive/unsuccessful and so on. It makes people feel good to look at the lives of others and see that things may not be going their way either, especially someone like Katya who on the surface appears to be beautiful, talented, successful and happy. Oh well none of that matters because she has made this one mistake, so let's tear her down and make her feel as bad about herself as I do about myself. When Katya posted her initial apology saying that it was not a reflection on her happy marriage, instead of coming to the reasonable conclusion that one CAN be largely happy with their husband and still have a brief moment of attraction/temptation particularly fueled by alcohol, multiple people replied to her saying that if she was happy then she wouldn't have done it. Do they really believe that or do they just want to believe that she has an unhappy marriage? In summary the interest in the people featured on SCD combined with the public nature of the reveal combined with society's view on cheating combined with the insecurities that most of us have = an incredible amount of attention and outrage over one kiss. Aside from all that now, there have been accusations of emotional abuse which is a far more serious thing and something that a lot of people quite rightly care about.

No one cares about Katya and Neil (you do you, kids). No one would care about Sean(n) and his ex if not for the fact that she put out a rather well written statement about how he had been calling her a psycho for accusing him of cheating. Which he had, in fact, been doing (snogging, anyway). So if she's telling the truth, then that's rather nasty emotional abuse.

Oof fair point. I'd forgotten that. Poor old Norm. (very horrible business happened to her boyfriend but I think that was a later one) Oh absolutely, that must have been awful for her. I believe she cheated on Norman at least twice. Wasn't there also a snog at (ironically) a Strictly wrap party which she laughed off as "meaningless" blaming drink which sounded the death knell for their marriage? She'd have to have had some brass neck to have really criticised Seann and Katya to be honest. Yes I seem to remember there being a bit of a 'list' but I think you're right it was one she tried to dismiss and then another more shall we say 'sustained' one. These things happen and probably a symptom of a wider thing, BUT glass houses and all (similarly Susanna Reid was on their side, she didn't cheat with her Strictly partner but did break off her relationship shortly after Strictly) However one thing we do know is that Zoe wasn't cheating with Iain, that man's sexuality can be seen from space (my God I love him).

Ha! Yes, I don't think we can mistake Iain as not being a gayer. He's great though, I love it when he gets all excited about using his special pen to draw arrows all over the screen when he's critiquing the dances. I actually really like Zoe as it happens, I've met her (very) briefly at a couple of events and she's always been delightful. I also think she's being a little unfairly criticised for not going all 'Emma Willis' on Seann and Katya but I think she's painfully aware that she did much the same thing to her own husband once so didn't want to seem hypocritical. I also think she's a reasonable adult who understands that you don't know what goes on in other people's relationships, isn't prepared to take everything at face value and that she also probably genuinely likes Seann and Katya too so wasn't prepared to hang them out to dry. Every story always has two sides. I'd imagine Zoe is actually a really good friend who has her own flaws and is prepared to accept them in others. Despite what Twitter and the Daily Hate Mail tell us.

If Neil and Katya *were* to have an open relationship, do you think that means the Ginger Bomb might like the mens every now and again? It would be a shame to see those hips go to waste.

I mean it really would be a waste frankly! (And yes I adore me some Zoe's Balls, she seems like a top gal one who likes a bevvy but would also keep all your secrets)

For what it's worth (which I accept isn't much) Zoe Ball has now acknowledged her previous relationship with alcohol and has been teetotal for a while.

Just read in this weeks Popbitch that Seann Walsh dropped his PR company on Tuesday and signed up with industry big-hitter Matthew Freud, specialising in “top notch clean-ups”.

Zoe was seen as a ladette back in the day, maybe it was an imagine she even tried to cultivate as she wanted to move away from the Children's TV presenter image especially as her Dad was a kid's TV legend. She then took a step back to have her family before returning to the limelight a few years later.
It's good to know she is teetotal if she has had alcohol issues and then her marriage break up and the death of her new boyfriend.
I wonder if she will still do It Takes Two next year with her getting Radio 2 breakfast show

I seem to remember either hearing or reading that Zoe is only contracted to the Radio 2 breakfast show for just 42 out of the 52 weeks in a year, which suggests she'll continue with some TV work.
Or perhaps the BBC will pair Seann Walsh with Justin Lee Collins, the original presenter of It Takes Two!

Two words for tonight. LACK. LUSTRE. Daaaaaaaarling. Yep, agreed. I liked Danny (though his technique was a bit ropey), Lauren (shame about the mistakes), Ashley (bit too wild though), Faye (undermarked!) and Stacey (wasn't a Foxtrot though), and thought Graeme was highly entertaining, but there weren't any standout brilliant dances. Poor Kate though, that Samba was a complete car crash...

Very poor show tonight. Not what they needed.
Katya looked very tentative in that dance, not like her at all. She came over as very nervous, I doubt she really meant to say it's been an amazing week. Neil kept his distance when they were being interviewed.
Good demonstration of the importance of decent music. Stuck with that terrible song even Pasha and Ashley couldn't breakthrough with their Tango.

Katie was terrible too. Stomp stomp stomp. Ok, props to her for a bit more acting (if you can call putting your hand to your mouth in Japanese giggle motion acting) but other than that, useless. I think if a judge is commending you for the colour the wardrobe department put you in it’s probably time to go.
Charles, hated it. But nice to see a smidge of humility after last week.
Seann and Katya.... noticeably less touchy. At one point he tried to peck her on the cheek and she almost recoiled haha. I don’t think they’ll be bottom 2.

I’ve always assumed that the music, or at least a large amount of it (not where they use stuff like the March of the Valkyries etc) is based on what the celeb has said they like. So... her own fault presumably!

It used to be mainly the professional but they've been strongly hinting for a while now that the production team decide a lot of it these days.
Which makes sense given how unsuitable some of the music is. Hard to believe a professional dancer would choose inappropriate music.

Agree with most of the above. Not a good show.
Kate could be in trouble. Looked like someone had left her in a sack of discarded party poppers.
Loved the cake incident - could see it was going to happen, which made it even funnier. And I loved Craig's total exposure of Kevin's clever choreography, going for extra points from Shirley.
Singers screeeeeeeeechy tonight, particularly in the rhumba.
Was impressed with Gorka not over-dancing and toning it right down for Katie.
And I know a lot of people don't like the Daly/Winkleman partnership, but I do think they have a great ease with each other. Was glad Tess didn't say anything too cringy.

Sean and Katya was VERY over marked. It was a mess.
Vick was probay my favourite tonight, but a very bland show overall. Katie Piper to go this week.

Shaunn was just as gangly, ridged and awkward as Joe and didn't get half the critique, it was just weird and uncomfortable.
Agree with all lack lustre.

Charles, hated it. But nice to see a smidge of humility after last week. I wouldn't call his "woah" when Shirley dared to only give him a 6 humility - he doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word. Hope he goes out tonight, I don't like him or Karen!

I have just skipped through the show at high speed and I thought it was a really poor week from a lot of people.
To be fair, it was one of the better weeks for the costume team. But the music choices were, on the whole, awful.
Voting seemed random.
Gorka looked particularly cute in green.
I could quite happily send more than half of them home right now. Weak week.
