Major new musical version of The Third Man opening at the MCF this year. Quite a formidable creative team involved.

General public bookings started at midnight, but someone seems to have cocked up and blocked access from the Menier home page. It's also saying my long-standing member account does not exist despite having used it to book this year.
However, if you go to the booking page for Marjorie Prime, and then change the end of the URL to THIRDMAN, you can get in to book, as I've just managed that.

eTicketing is generally a good thing, but it's not unknown for your phone battery to die. Plus, all phones break down at some point eventually. The new Menier policy states: "Please use your mobile device for entry. Printed tickets will not be accepted." I hope they've got a fallback whereby the Box Office can help you out if you can't get the ticket up on your phone (or if you don't have a smart phone, which some people don't).
UPDATE: Please ignore the above. It was entirely my fault. I selected the wrong delivery option.

I'll put it to the test next week when I go there to see Christina Bianco with my e-ticket
Phone signals have never been very good there so it could be fun.

What other venue opens bookings at midnight! In the normal world it's either 9am,10am (if the Box Office opens at the same time) or Midday/Noon I guess the same venues that start all their pricing at £45 a ticket and call it an early booking deal (although there are £30 previews for this one)

If it doesn't feature some zither, it will just not feel right.
The film music is so iconic that there has to be a nod to it somewhere

Printed tickets are still accepted, you just need to select the 'print at home' pdf option when purchasing your tickets instead. It would be pretty exclusionary to have a smart tech policy only.

Always seems to be less busy than daytime sales and doesn't mean you have to stop work for the sale (night shift workers excepted). Long may it continue.

I remember Funny Girl going on sale at Midnight and by the time most people woke up in the morning the run had sold out.

I wonder if KX tickets have taken over the ticketing system as I had an e mail about 6am from them for this show. My e ticket for Christina Bianco also had one of those square codey things to scan (I'm sure there is a proper word for it) very similar to the ones Newsies send out which is also KX tickets.

I didn't notice the option to select print at home when I booked earlier. I do object to the "threat" that a printed ticket will not be accepted.
My daughter has previously managed to print my ticket in similar circumstances despite the initial notification that it can't be done - so it can but not sure how.

Its a tiny theatre so if you have any problems with viewing your ticket just go to the box office and they will sort you out.

You're quite right. Apologies. The options you now get are "Email - free" (the default), followed by "Print at home". I should have switched to the second.

... It's also saying my long-standing member account does not exist despite having used it to book this year. ... I have had a response from the Menier: So, unless you have a paid membership, no account anymore. Seems like a retrograde move, and out of step with most current Customer Relations Management (CRM) thinking.

I have just seen it. Thought it was decent but not special. The music is mostly good and suits the post-war Viennese setting. Songs were ok although rather forgettable. The story is almost identical as the one in the movie, only a few scenes were slightly changed or rearranged. I really like the way some of the iconic scenes from the film were staged especially the finale of Act I was great. Performances were solid, two leads did a very good job in my opinion. Staging was pretty slick and atmospheric. Not sure what else to add, I enjoyed it but probably wouldn’t go to see it again nor listen to the cast recording.

I know it is only two days in, but has anybody seen this yet? Any impressions? Was also in this evening. As the above poster said the score is very forgettable with there are some questionably stupid lyrics. The story is told well. Act one could do with trimming down, perhaps lose the awful ‘lecture’ song/shorten that storyline as it doesn’t add much. Act two had a good pace that kept my attention with some better songs (but still not brilliant). The chemistry between the two leads was missing, his love for her sort of comes out of the blue perhaps over time as they bed in their chemistry will be there and it’ll make more sense. It is worth a watch and will be interesting to see if they trim it down/make any major changes in the next few weeks. It was nice to be in the presence of Sir Trevor who was sat opposite us making his notes. Started around 1933 and was out by 2201. Expect this will tighten up over the next few weeks.

Thank you both amp09 and jakobo ! I had rather high hopes for this one, but now a bit less so even with the £25 tickets available. Might give it until after the press reviews are out to make my decision whether to go see it or not. The only other play I've seen at the Menier was The Sex Party which all took place within the same setting, so I am curious to find out how effectively they manage scene changes on that relatively small stage

I was there last night and sorry to report that I thought it was a real stinker. Boring score, amateurish lyrics and weak performances (though I am aware it is early previews).
I cannot recommend a single thing about it. :-(
It might have made an interesting play but does not work at all with this musical treatment.

A third man musical was staged in Vienna in 2016, was it this one? I've tried searching for it but with not much luck
