OMFG Firstly let me say There is NO way this is not transferring The Dorfman really is doing well For itself Once in while You go the theatre And you see something And you just know It’s going to go down in history For me this doesn’t happen often Due to being a fussy person Perhaps performance wise The last time I thought this was Yerma Although I had issues with the play first time around Billie Piper was undeniable Same with Denise Gough PPP Although again for me the play was massively flawed Other example was at one of the first previews for OMTG I just knew it was going to be massive Nine Night for me Is probably the best new play I have seen In the last 5 years And the best new play I have ever seen at the NT In 2 hours This play Ticks all the cultural equality boxes And smashes through them and beyond It transcends culture colour and race I was so pleased to see such a diverse audience At least 1/3 black patrons And never have I heard such laughter Joy and tears in a play One of the best and more enjoyable audiences I have had the pleasure to sit with What looks at face value like A simple domestic drama And initially seems as if it’s going to offer cliches Cleverly rises above that Cecilia Noble only has to move her lips and the audience were in hysterics The play looks at where black people specifically those of Jamican origins are in the U.K. now But rings a bell with immigrants from anyplace It doesn’t offer easy answers either But some problems and issues don’t have any solutions They just are And sometimes raising them is enough After constant steaming piles of sh*t at the NT Particularly plays stuck up their own arse Like Consent and that even more awful one Rufus Norris attempted to direct Here is something to be PROUD of It has some of the funniest killer one liners I have heard for years And there are some real soap opera moment Which had the audience whooping and gasping But the ending is unbearably moving Franc Ashman captures grief in such a shocking and raw Way It reminds us of our own mortality Please please please go And see this play I’m guessing it’s probably quite average then

It’s a badly written and dull BBC radio play put on stage. Couldn’t care less about any of the annoying characters or their poor situations. Never believed the girl was a successful musician a la Adele. They needed to start the play with some big moment which showed that but it just petered in. Desperately trying to tap into #MeToo and say profound things about the music industry but instead you get lessons about copyright, lists of drugs and odd psychobabble. Such clunky writing. Lazily staged. A few chuckle moments (mainly from Chaplin). Lots of lovely voices on stage but given risible dialogue to spout. It felt like Penhall had done lots of research into different areas and then just tried to vomit them into a play whilst forgetting the drama. Pip Carter is in it though and I love his face and voice

It's not exactly a top drawer cast (I think I was expecting a bigger 'name' for the lead female role) but I am sure they are all great actors

We're pleased to announce today the cast of Machinal,Natalie Abrahami's visceral new production of Sophie Treadwell's masterpiece, coming this summer.
The full cast features Nathalie Armin, Emily Berrington, Khali Best, Denise Black, Demetri Goritsas, Andrew Lewis, Jonathan Livingstone, John Mackay, Alan Morrissey, Kirsty Rider, Augustina Seymour and Dwane Walcott.

Seeing Absolute hell tonight. Knackered and not sure I can cope with 3 hours of it. If I am not feeling it after a 90 min first half in the cheap cramped seats in Row C and we feel like leaving, will we miss much? Obviously I am not going with that intention in mind but it would be good to hear from those who have seen it as to whether we will be missing an unmissable second and third act. Well I stayed for the whole 3 hours as I was entertained and intrigued after the first half which was fun and done well. I gradually become more disillusioned with the play itself, the various miscastings, the various over-acting and facial mugging (and lack of natural acting apart from maybe Charles Edwards) and the various odd directorial decisions (walking walking walking woman for example) which made me leave thinking less of the production as a whole. 3 stars from me (I think)

What I would recommend is waiting and seeing what the version of MfM is like instead of getting all het up about what may or may not be happening. After all, Shakespeare is always ripe for rejigging and interpretation. I for one welcome fresh takes on classic plays.

OK, so on the AH NT page, they started with the slightly daunting "3 hours 40 minutes with two 15 minute intervals" as the approximate duration. Then they adjusted it to "3 hours 20 minutes with two 15 minute intervals". Now it's a rather odd sounding "3 hours 10 minutes with 15 minute interval and 5 minute pause". 5 minute pause??Now showing on the website as 3 hours with 15 minute interval and 5 min pause. Guess they are hacking and slashing. Hopefully it will be 2.5 hours by the time I go tomorrow night

As well as 1000 extra tickets released tomorrow, starting from June 1st more tickets will be released every Friday Crazy. They have probably only sold about half the tickets across the entire run and make this announcement all over social media like it’s a brilliant thing they are doing for people who missed out. Ridiculous marketing

The full cast set to join Orlando Bloom in Killer Joe in London this summer has been announced.
Tracy Letts’ debut play is set at a trailer park in Texas where the Smith family have hired a hitman to murder the matriarch and stake a claim to the insurance money. The man they hire is Joe Cooper, played by Bloom, who is a detective turned killer but when the family can’t afford to pay him up front, he calls for a more sinister means of pay.
Joining Bloom in Simon Evans’ production will be Sophie Cookson, Adam Gillen, Neve McIntosh and Steffan Rhodri.
Adam Gillen is currently starring in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Amadeus, which has been recently revived in the Olivier. He is also known for playing Liam in Benidorm.
Sophie Cookson’s screen credits include Sidney in the Netflix series Gypsy, and Roxy in the Kingsman films.
Neve McIntosh has appeared in several episodes of Doctor Who as Madame Vastra, and on stage she has appeared in productions of The Events, King Lear and The Merchant of Venice.
Steffan Rhodri is possibly best known for playing Dave of Dave’s Coaches in Gavin and Stacey, and also played Reg Cattermole in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One. On stage, he has appeared in James Graham’s This House, Richard Bean’s The Mentalists and Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park.
