Caissie Levy? Canadian working in Broadway and London I’m pretty sure it’s her. She is following both the Donmar, the casting director and the artistic director. Her most recent like was the Donmar’s tweet announcing the show. I’ll do a few more checks and ask people who might know, but I feel quite confident it’s her. No recent Wicked London appearances though?

Rachel Tucker is 41 according to Wikipedia, so would fit the bill on age criteria. Has she got acting range? Her voice was decent in Wicked, but her acting was stiff (although it is with everyone, due to the rigid direction. This is the only thing I’ve seen her in. Diana is a hugely challenging role. It requires outstanding acting and the ability to sing a challenging score with rock-opera and more “traditional” musical theatre styles. So basically you’re looking for someone who can “sell” what is ostensibly a rock musical (“Wish I Were Here”, “You Don’t Know”, “Didn’t I See This Movie”) then two songs later give a masterclass in acting through song while singing more typical ballads “So Anyway”, “I Miss the Mountains”. On top of that she has to act one of the most complex roles in musical theatre history. … I really don’t envy the casting director. I would say that Rachel Tucker fits the bill well for all of that then

Couple of familiar faces, Moya Angela shared the role of Effie with Marisha Wallace and Karen Mav for the second year of the London run of Dreamgirls. I always assumed she lived in America and just moved to London for the year to do Dreamgirls, I guess she could be doing the same again but this is a smaller role than Effie and not even “West End”. Also George Crawford just recently finished playing Ogie on the Waitress tour and was in the same year group as Jac Yarrow at ArtsEd so I assume he’s done Newsies before. He played Finch in the Arts Ed production. Now Morris in this one.

Generally enjoyed it. Took a while to settle but it lifted at the Zoom scene which was very well done. My feeling is that you weren't meant to know or focus on what the people on stage were saying and that it was likely improvved or workshopped, rather than fully scripted - but I could be wrong. I really hope they didn't set the scene thinking there would be silence/no laughter as that would be crazy. I drifted off a fair bit in the second half as I found it less engaging and overall struggled to really care about any of the characters or the arguments, mainly as they were thinly sketched as characters and I couldn't really tell you much about any of them. Nice to see her on stage but not sure it needed Helen Hunt (who to my mind played her role on fairly one level with little variation) Not a big success, not a complete failure. Just a slight feeling of meh at the end and a hope that they could have balanced the acts more evenly and ending more strongly. 3 out of 5 for me.

Sorry if this has already been answered but does anyone know who was playing Sister Mary Patrick in the final show on Sunday? The cast board said Keala Settle but she definitely wasn’t on! I believe it was Caroline Bateson. I don’t know why Keala wasn’t on for the evening as she definitely did the matinee She might have fancied taking in a movie or something.

Nope. Not “put people down”. Not “actively against this show”. Have said that it lacks originality in the look of it. Based on the images seen. Which is what many many people do. On this board. And elsewhere. Perfectly entitled to make judgements and have opinions based on images rather than seeing the whole show. This board would be shut down if that wasn’t allowed. You have made unfounded accusations against me and sorry, but there’s “no need’ for those. I'm sorry, I'll drop this here. I don't want to make any more "unfounded accusations" based on comments you yourself made. I never meant that it was not okay to make judgements, but there's better ways of going about it than putting down others. Thanks for the apology.

Sorry. You misunderstood. Any regional theatre would have jumped at the chance to pick up a show like this with a big name director to bring in crowds and increase revenue and popularity. I wasn’t saying that any other theatres would have taken the same or different stance as the Old Vic. I have no strong opinions on whether Gilliam should be making theatre or not. I didn’t say his views played any part in that. I do admire the Old Vic for making a principled stand based on the evidence presented to them and listening to views of others though. Judging by this topic you seem to be actively against a show you've not seen. Putting people down with negative sarcastic comments. I know exactly what happened and perhaps you should be careful and read up more about what was actually said before commenting. All I am saying is that The Old Vic have lost out here on what is potentially a commercial success, which is certainly something all theatres would benefit from at the moment in the current climate. You are almost dismissing the morals of the board of The Theatre Royal, Bath for taking Terry Gilliam on, which is holy unfair. Or in your opinion, should all audiences boycott the show as well for expressing his views? At the end of the day, Gilliam is a director; Into the Woods is a brilliant musical and has not been commercially produced in the West End for many years. The Old Vic’s loss is Bath’s gain, as will be the producers who potentially bring this in. Oh and I don’t need to be careful and read more and I am not dismissing the morals of the board of the TRB. You have conflated several points and got angry without first asking questions.

Reading all these amazing reviews and comments, I hope the Old Vic are now suitably holding their head in shame and embarrassment by not letting this production premiere there. Well done to the Theatre Royal, Bath for picking this up and hopefully if it does transfer will get some money out of it. Why should they hold their heads in shame and embarrassment? this set :0 That looks very promising Set looks like every other version. Costumes look almost exactly like every other version. Milky White done in almost exactly same way as every other version. Hope Gilliam has brought some new vision to the table.

Looks and feels like every other production of ITW in the history of ITW productions - with maybe a few surreal touches that may not add much but were probably hilarious in the rehearsal room. I could of course be proved wrong though

Re: the frankly bizarre post above. Does this mean I can write and produce a Stranger Things musical, using the show’s plots, characters, likenesses and branding? Then, without anybody’s permission, stage sell-out concerts of “Stranger Things: The Musical”, selling hundreds of thousands of dollars of tickets and merchandise featuring the show’s official logo? And I get to keep all the profits? Why has nobody else thought of this before?!! With my profits, I am going to do a stage adaptation of Ghostbusters. Also, I’m thinking of starting a new animation studio called “Disney”. Sorry, the phone is ringing - I think it’s my solicitor. I don’t think the posts above are bizarre at all. The poster is not saying that it’s OK or endorsing it. They do however make very valid points that we don’t yet have the full picture and rights and liabilities would almost definitely have been checked by various parties along the way. I’m sure we will get the full picture soon.
