Am I right in thinking this has been in development for 7 years? Yes.

Well so far with shows like Mean Girls and Pretty Women hotly tipped for transfers for months it's been a case of surprise ones coming out the blue recently.
And wasn't The Savoy the theatre that was most linked to both those shows? What does that mean for them i wonder? I suppose there is room for one of them after SITPWG. Didn't Baz say autumn 2020 for Mean Girls? Which i suppose fits.

As mentioned in my 'review' the set consists of a back curtain and a few panels that slide on and off in various positions that are used for projections to set the locations and then props come on and off to aid that. There is a a concert stage that houses the band and that comes on from the back whenever there are concert performances in the story and at the end for the megamix and such. I was told this is the very same set as Broadway actually so it's not a case of no money being spent on a transfer. I saw this in NYC and it had more to it than that.. hence me commenting. Oh I guess I was told wrong then. They said it was the same. 🤔

I actually thought the nuns playing the instruments worked better than it sounds. It actually added a bit more fun to proceedings and worked very well in a lot of places. I didn't see the original but i have seen clips and pictures ect and theres no doubt the last tour was a lot more intimate and on a much smaller scale.
I would imagine that it would be the last touring version again. I don't mind seeing it again.

Is there any info on actual venues? Just the cities is a bit useless...

Seems Matt is well and truly in the theatre world now. There was a time after Memphis where it seemed he might not do a show again.

I don't know about Birmingham but i've not really known Curve do many discounts. Though they already have done some for certain groups such as under 25's and the like. Sometimes they do a kind of like day seat thing but only once or twice to my knowledge over the years.

It's a great show. Love that it's made it's way to the West End.

Jamie Muscato and The Other Palace. Not two names that usually go together.
Oh wait.

I try not to read reviews before i see a show. It's hard to not see reviews at some point though when you are one of the people who run this board....

Any thoughts on a West End venue? When Ghost played the Opera House it transferred a month later to the Piccadilly, which would seem like a good sized venue for this too. I know they were originally planning on the Dominion but that would mean waiting until at least October 2020 to bring the transfer in. They want the Adelphi. Moulin Rouge is already booked into the Piccadilly ... this was only destined for the Dominion when Jamie Lloyd was directing. The current team only agreed to do it if it *didnt* go to the Dominion. I wish he was till directing. I'd be a lot more confident it will be good.

Less a prediction more a "this is coming"...
Just reading through the programme for On Your Feet and i notice that in the Bio for the produder Jamie Wilson Productions it says they are bringing a new production of Sister Act to London next year.
That is the same producer who did the Alexandra Burke sister act tour a few years ago but it says "brand new production of" so i don't know if it will be the same one or not.

Note that this is all based on a dress rehearsal not a proper 'official' performance.
I didn't rate the first act but i really enjoyed the second act. That's when it clicked for me because at that point it become more a concert with just smaller inserts of dialogue and scene setting and it zipped along. For me the first act and how that was done just didn't really land and seemed a bit too slow and disjointed and it lacked something. 2nd act is where it's at. I mean it all does seem a bit self indulgent but i guess that's what you get with this type of show.
I don't wish to really rate performances because given that it was only a dress run you don't know how much individual cast members were really giving and if it was them at their best so it's unfair. But as i said above, the Emelio is literally Zayn from One Direction. Looks and voice. Well not literally, obviously.
The set was a big disappointment. Basically a back curtain and some sliding panels that had various projections on. Then like a concert stage coming on and off for the band and performance scenes. I don't know if that is the same as other productions of the show.
The band, music, lighting and sound are excellent.
I did like it in the end.
Gloria was there.

In the dress rehearsal now. The main thing I notice is the guy playing Emelio looks and sounds almost exactly like Zayn from One Direction. It's like he's doing an impression.

You can't help but do it and then when something sounds different to her version you are instantly a bit unsure but you definitely have to try and separate her take on the role and that production to what we will be getting here. I really do think both T'shan and the production will be great.

Video of some of the cast BTS at the shoot and clips of them singing. I'd probably just say by the clip that T'shan maybe needs to work on I'm Here a little bit but they have a full rehearsal process to go so i'm sure she will. I'm excited. Was that Alex Parker playing the keyboard? Yes he's the musical director.

Watched this earlier. Thought she was pretty impressive but lacked a little control but presumably she'll tighten it up in rehearsals. I thought similar. She has fantastic power to her voice but probably needs to just tighten up those few runs and stuff up, which she has plenty of time to do.

Intrigued to know what part of the cheesy pop performed reminded you of Hamilton? Was it because there were people on stage, like in Hamilton? Being vaguely historical, like in Hamilton? They were singing, like in Hamilton? They had heads....bad example... Cheesy pop is an understatement. It's total trash. As I say, I'm not a fan of the show. For the record, wasn't actually any of those things. In fact, I've seen most of those things you listed in other shows. Might just be me. From 1:52 of Six. Utilises a very similar pattern to Track 01 of Hamilton. An accompaniment on beat 1 of every bar followed by rhythm on beat 3. Also lots of cross-beats over bars in both. Well the composer had never seen or listened to Hamilton at the time of writing so i'm afraid it's a coincidence.

The guest performers for next week's BGT semi finals have been confirmed and include some performances from some West End shows.
We already know that the cast (well Sheridan and Jason) of Joseph will perform. Joining them will be the cast of Six performing Ex Wives and the cast of On Your Feet (along with Gloria herself) with a medley.
Great promo for them all on what is one of the highest rated/most talked about shows of the year.
