I can't remember that far back, but wasn't the general consensus at the start of Rachel and Louise very dissapointed... and then alot of people were proven very, very wrong. On the old board, I think somebody described Rachael as a bit 'quiet' after her first performance. Quite funny looking back really - it really just goes to show that actors and actresses need to settle into roles. That's why I've never really been fussed on seeing a performer on their first night. Does anybody else still find it crazy that Louise Dearman played Elphaba? I'm still not sure her voice was quite right for Elphaba but she sung No Good Deed phenomenally well the one time I saw.

Sorry to double post but maybe when Rachel John is done with Hamilton she can nip across the road and Defy Gravity instead. A lot of us have been saying that for years! Apparently she got fairly close to the end in the auditions a couple of times, but didn't get the part, which just shows how awful the Wicked producers generally are at casting this show! I was listening to audios of her in The Bodyguard when I posted that last night - she was the highlight of that show for me. I think she would be a wonderful Elphaba, just imagine those songs with that voice!

I'm obsessed with this. No Good Deed was just meant to be sung in German!

I find Marisha a little bit frantic in her delivery, I have to say. having seen and listened to both Marisha and Amber, I do think you have to see Marisha live to really appreciate her performance. Amber is the stronger vocalist without a doubt, but Marisha acts through her singing so much more, and that comes across a lot better in the room. I totally get what you mean about how she sounds on the radio though! In terms of audience reaction on the night, it was Marisha who got the full standing ovation which went on for a good view minutes. That said, Tucker was still my fave Yes, I'd probably feel different if I was watching her performance. I want to see Amber though, I just find her voice absolutely devine. Such control! But props to Marisha, she does have a great voice. Tucker has stolen this show for me so far.

Also, that note she went into 'So if you care to find...' gave me such goosebumps!

Just tuned in - have I missed Marisha or Rachel? Marisha is performing her first song right now, both Rachel and Marisha perform back to back in Act II! Great thanks - I was worried they might have picked highlights and muddled them all up!

What's Christine Dwyer up to these days? If they insist on giving us an American Elphaba I'd like it to be her.

I hope the next time I see Wicked I get to see James Darch in Fiyero's jodhpurs.

Because 1. she deserves it and 2. Martin said the other week, Jodie told him Alice wouldn't of accepted standby if she wasn't promised lead eventually I would be surprised if Wicked had agreed to such a deal. Becoming lead from standby should be earned through great performances and hard work, not due to a promise. It wouldn't surprise me too much, actually. Other actresses, after all, have been lead straight away rather than being a standby first. Perhaps they saw Alice audition last year at some point but knowing their plans for the 10th anniversary, they gave this to her instead. Plus it gives her loads of experience so it's not a risk when she actually becomes lead. Although it wouldn't surprise me if there was a clause in there that meant the producers could change their plans if maybe they weren't completely sold on Alice's performance. I don't think she has any reason to worry though, she seems bloody solid. All just speculation anyway!

Hmmm... My fondness for American Idiot and We Will Rock You is telling me that I shouldn't judge this before I know more, but hers is not a back catalogue which I'd personally mine for jukebox musical material. This reminds we actually, when I was 12 I wrote the book for a pretty great (if I do say so myself) Avril Lavigne jukebox musical. I wish I still had it tbh! 😂 As a huge Avril Lavigne fan still to the day (she's releasing new music this year!) this great interests me haha! I wouldn't mind a show that centres around Britney's Blackout album, that was definitely her creative peak. (Or her songwriters).

I've seen the show approx 15 times but I've lost count. My first trio were Rachel, Louise and Lee on 1st September 2010.
One show that really sticks out was when I booked to see Louise Dearman but both she and Hayley Gallivan were out and I saw Michelle Pentecost instead. I was underwhelmed with Michelle but I think quite a few of the cast were out and I really appreciated what a great actress Gina Beck is - she really was the glue holding the show together. It was a fantastic leading lady performance and probably the only performance I've seen where a Glinda has held my attention for the majority of the show.

I'm surprised her new album won't be available anywhere else apart from one of the 250 signed copies?! £15 is quite expensive... I don't really want to pay for that right now but worried they will sell out (if they haven't already). It's also available to buy at her gigs while stocks last (beyond the 250). That's what I understood from her live video. Oh that's good, I'll get one when I see her.

I've bitten my tongue and not responded so many times in this thread - yesterday I crumbled and I'm annoyed at myself. Lets al just agree to get a grip and remember we are discussing a musical about witches and the land of Oz. Funnily enough, after my concerns over Brexit, the upcoming election and why I've been put on the wrong code by HMRC and paid a sh*t load of tax in April's pay, who can execute the best Fiyero riff in NGD and who has or hasn't been asked to play Elphaba on Broadway is pretty far down the list of life worries. (5th cover midwife is a different matter... )

If you feel that way then why did you buy a ticket to her solo concert? I am genuinely puzzled and interested why. Her Elphaba! Not her as a singer! I didn't go to her gig anyway, i sold my ticket after finding out she was singing NGD plus i would of rather of gone to see Alice Genuinely intrigued as to why Rachel singing NGD at her gig triggered you to sell your ticket?

I always had trouble with the beginning with the second Act in Wicked, as I have with some musics of the score My problem with the beginning of the second act is that they now play an announcement when it's about to start. I loved when it used to begin very randomly and people would jump out their seats in shock at the opening bars! I wish there was a longer Entr'acte to let people get back to their seats.
