OK I'm going to be one of the voices who like. Thought this was actually not bad, yes they overacted in the storm, but overall I really did enjoy it. Kept me guessing who was actually going to get murdered, so the end was slightly surprising.
Only voice of concern is they could have cut some of the scene changes.

OK so I saw this last night on Press Night (owing to a stroke of luck where two Friday Rush came back in the morning).
I'm going to go against the wind and say I loved this to bits, thought both Salieri and Mozart were superb and was transfixed by the staging. The moments of choral singing (especially the Requiem) left me a sobbing wreck combined with the words especially the Lacrimosa. This by no means is detrimental to the Opera sections which sent shivers up my spine.
The Ventecilli were believable, the court was excellent and the orchestra were fab.
My only small quip are the 'dance' versions of two pieces.
Yes, listen to all views, but go and make your own opinion as this is a marmite show.

After 2 seasons that overall left me cold and uninterested in going to see a single show (this year and next summmer just announced I'm guiltily glad she's going. Can't comment on lighting and sound decisions though but from what I've heard seem justified. Only season that made me remotely wake up was the Wonder Noir.

A quickie, what's the view like in the back rows of the stalls (T14 and 15)?

Anyone ever booked two sets of Friday Rush under two different names at same address?

The first casualty of previews has been announced, to no suprise probably. So many people I overheard asking what previews were about. I said to them it means you may see things people will not see in future performances.

So, thanks to theatremad I'm off to part two tomorrow. SO excited - this was going to be the first new Potter I hadn't had in my grubby little hands as soon as it was available. Hopefully I won't be looking too lost - the Palace and I are old friends. Now to go haunt the spoiler thread to find out what I missed. My pleasure. Pleased I could give it to someone so they could enjoy. You have my number if any problems. Enjoy, and say hi to 'dippy' from me

Ok so I cant make it to Part 2 tomorrow. If anyone is midlands area and can get to Warwick to pick the ticket up you are welcome to it. So sorry you aren't able to make it after all. No post office still open? I'm sure my friend would love it but I'm not coming to get it. Edit: oops, it's later in the day than I thought. Gutted but think I have someone who can take it. Such an amazing show

As with all responses it depends on personal taste, but some of mine:
- David Pownall's Elgar's Rondo - David Edgar's State of Europe trilogy (The Shape of the Table, Pentecost, The Prisoner's Dilemma), only saw the latter 2 but would love to see this done all in one go. Know an American company (I think) brought a short run over - The Churchill Play - Roberto Zucco

I disagree with the above negative reviews. Though this is by no means a seminal production it is well worth the visit. If you forget the idea of the concept and just enjoy the show it works, though the EU reference ruins the last 5 minutes.
The deus ex machina moment is imaginatively staged and works (at least as far as I'm concerned).
Yes, the translations into other languages don't add much, and yes the feminising of certain roles does muddy the waters occaasionally, but to me it brings out some interesting moments, that bring a new 'light' to the text.
The 1997 Adrian Noble production was better, but this is a more intelligent rethink than the travesty of the 2006 Kneehigh show or the train wreck that was the Troilus and Cressida recently.
