Never saw but did read the John Mortimer adaptation from years ago and rather liked that. Doubt it will be that one somehow. Probably Polly Findlay directing with debbie tucker green adapting

One apparent definite (RSC insider info) is the Christmas show will be A Christmas Carol. No idea on director or adapter, but designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis. One of my favourite stories, so we shall see on wednesday when announcement comes out.

So aside from the preannounced runs of 'Coriolanus' and 'Dido, Queen of Carthage', any rumours or news on the Winter Season this year?
Also we have 2 TOP new work festivals still due an announcement. It was this time last year when the 16-17 press release came out.

Really don't know what to think on this. There were moments I loved, even Harry Enfield but I still have fond memories of the National Theatre production a few years ago. The production is too cramped and though the revolve works it felt cramped especially in Act 2.
Answers on a postcard about what the last scene really means (the one with all the yellow boxes)

Saw this yesterday from G1 (On Stage seating back row, which is actually upstairs), not a bad view all in all.
4th time I've seen this show and I still love it, new cast is fab.

Tamar's Revenge The Villains' Opera A while back both but we can't forget Vs' Opera because other half was violently sick on the way home. 😂😂 Guessing you mean the Spanish Golden Age play Tamar's Revenge? If so, it's a hard one, if you're referring to the RSC production then I came out hating the production rather than the play. The production was turgid and awful, and left me cold but the play was't bad I felt. On different note I loved The Flick and Everyman but couldn't agree more about Evening at the Snore House.

This week I am hoping to do the thursday matinee of This House in the West End on stage seating, and possibly treat myself to a visit to the Great Fire at Museum of London (non theatre I know).

Wow anything mentioned in same breath as Pentecost deserves a viewing. Seeing this over Xmas. Hope you agree, Pentecost still sends shivers down my spine 20 or so years later. As I said, it's a marmite show this one but it left me feeling the same way as Pentecost did.

Ok full comment time. This is going to be a marmite show. Yes there is a lot of swearing but I managed to get beyond it and see a great show, I can fully appreciate that this will not be the case for all.
Three previous RSC plays came to mind for a multitude of reasons:
David Edgar' Pentecost and Written on the Heart Helen Edmundson's The Heresy of Love
As far as 'pruning' goes, the scenery changes need sharpening (cut the carpet for a start) and also some speeding up.
I was in Gallery 2 also (B25) and aside from 1 line heard all of it clearly.
Some great performances, especially from Patrick O'Kane and Tom Georgeson.
As an aside it was humbling to listen to You and Yours on Radio 4 the day after and hear real life stories that echoed the housing storyline in the play.

Saw this first preview (so usual first preview disclaimers please). I really love this production if you strip out the majority of the high tech stuff with Ariel. The computer graphics plus Mary Rose like set really lend it a beauty, and for me it is strongly cast, with SRB giving a quiet but wonderful Prospero (I was lucky enough to see his Ariel all those years ago).
Only serious gripes are audibility of any speech in the first scene and in Ariel's songs.
Don't get me wrong the trickery with Ariel is stunning but it detracts from the production.
Also interval feels like a long way in, where is it in other productions?

As an aside, I was in the Circle Slips (the cheap seats), and the view wasn't too bad at all (yes small amounts missed but nothing major).
