Surely Edinburgh would be a no brainier for a sit-down production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? It’s far enough from London to not massively damage prospects there but Edinburgh also gets a lot of Harry Potter tourism. Stick it in the Festival Theatre and leave the Playhouse for the big tours.

I saw the show 4 times in its first year and Giles was off every single time so I presume this will be more a pamphlet rather than a full journal.

It is being filmed tomorrow. Maybe ITV will broadcast? I imagine it will be next Christmas rather than this one if schedules are already locked in?

I really want to buy the signed vinyl because ALW rarely does signed merchandise but I don’t want to shell out £40 until I know there’s going to be good content on there. Bad Cinderella hasn’t convinced me so far.

Somebody put it in the Roundhouse in Camden for a season or tear the Gillian Lyne up a bit and stick it in there to die the death that anything remotely interesting or truly creative does in our West End. If Hadestown can’t drum up a West End showing this has no chance. I think it could do well if they sold it on the basis of its innovative set design but it would need the right theatre to ensure both the layout works but remains financially viable. Might also need a marquee name to sell it but surely Alfie Boe will be in need of a bit of cash post-Covid? I wonder if The Hippodrome could work? The space used for Magic Mike might be a bit small but could fit in with the theme.

Ellie Simmonds was also there but I was nowhere near as excited for her.

Has anyone taken up a Standing space at the back of the Upper Circle? What’s the view like? Do you have anything to lean on? There's a wall to lean on. View should be better than corners of the circle further forward as the curve takes off the ends. You may lose a bit of front stage, perhaps, as they have built it quite a way out. Just to follow up on this, the view from the Standing spots at the back of the Upper Circle was brilliant for £15! The front of the stage was cut off but very little happened there and could be visible if you leant forward. Also worth mentioning that due to the “No latecomers are permitted” rule that once the doors closed and the preshow began, the ushers started distributing seats to the Standing patrons with a caveat that you may need to give them up for Act 2. We stayed Standing as I think we probably had a better view than most of the Upper Circle! I did feel bad for the elderly couple who made it in the door seconds before the play started but the usher had already reallocated their seats meaning they had to join us in Standing for the long first act.

I'm not too surprised as it's been discounting for quite some time. Will be curious to see what's replacing it. I reckon they’ll move Magic Goes Wrong across town. It will free up the Vaudeville for the 3rd show in Mischief’s year long takeover.

Have the ticket prices gone up with the recent ticket release?! Also didn’t see any of the £20 Slips tickets available across any date. Are they no longer on sale?

This is now in previews at The O2 but I’m surprised there’s absolutely zero buzz about it. I would’ve expected Benny and Sandi to be doing the media rounds to promote it. I think they’ve definitely priced themselves out of the market here. Had they retained the Southbank location, they might’ve been ok due to passing trade but I think they’re going to struggle out at The O2 (not to mention it’s stuck at the very back of the main promenade).

Emma Bunton is my guess for Goldilocks. Not off the back of any intel, she was just the most famous blonde person who would realistically do this I could think of. Not to mention she’s straight off the back of a stadium tour.

I think Mean Girls will be next into the Savoy following Sunday, targeting an October 3rd 2020 Press Night (to tie in with the line from the film).
I also think they won’t waste any time getting Moulin Rouge replicas rolled out around the world. Whether the Piccadilly is the right theatre remains to be seen.

One from last night’s Jessie Buckley concert in Glasgow (full review in the Wild Rose thread).
The crowd were very well behaved and respectful throughout. However, there were a few people talking very loudly behind me. We quickly realised that it was the two sound people working at the gig! The people who were meant to be optimising sound levels were talking over what they were meant to be fixing! You couldn’t make it up!

I went to see Jessie perform songs from the show at a concert in Glasgow last night. She really is a superstar. She performed most of the soundtrack album plus six or seven covers of her favourite country songs. It was her first gig of a small tour (including a stop at Glastonbury) and you could sense she was nervous but that only further endeared her to the crowd who lapped up every second. She got quite emotional as she realised people were singing the words back (“This has never happened to me before!”) and almost broke down during the encore of Glasgow. Such a special moment to sing along to that with a crowd of Glaswegians.

What about Horse Guard’s Parade or St James Park? Both very nearby the current location but should be able to handle larger crowds?
Somerset House could be another option too. Very close to Covent Garden and used to holding concerts.

Anyone else think Faye Tozer’s run in the West End is essentially an extended audition for the role on tour? I imagine they’ll stunt cast Miss Hedge and Loco like they’ve done in the West End and she seems like she’d fit the mould for a UK tour.

Paralympian and Strictly star Lauren Steadman and ex-Pop Idol/Big Brother contestant (and now musical theatre star) Zoe Birkett were both at Everybody’s Talking About Jamie last night (not together!).

I’ve just booked to see this next week. Was going to enter the lottery on the day but I was seeing the seating plan get more and more full every day so went and booked a seat in the stalls.
I have no idea what to expect and haven’t listened to the soundtrack once so really looking forward to it!

They must be throwing money at Bianca for this. 8wks in the West End for someone who commands up to $10,000 a night for a performance can’t come cheap.

It's a bit desperate having posters on the Drury Lane saying "School of Rock, three minutes walk away". 😂😂 But I bet it’s incredibly effective with tourists. You’d be surprised at the amount of tickets sold off the back of sheer convinence, “It’s a 3 minute walk from this tube station we get off at? Let’s just book that show...”

Just for info, a friend and I sat in the Grand Circle slips (A1-2) a few weeks ago and the view for £20 was incredible (if you leaned). Bench seats with plenty of space and legroom wasn’t as crushingly bad as I had expected (I’m over 6ft, think budget airline). Yes, you have to lean forward to see pretty much any of the stage (you would only see the opposite corner if you sat back) but I’ll take that for the price. I think we only missed a few scenes on the right balcony and a few involving George Washington at his desk.
I’d highly recommend for £20 if you don’t mind the lean (and for the record, before anyone posts in the Bad Behaviour thread about me, I did check with the people sitting next to me if they minded leaning and they said they were planning on doing the exact same thing). If they go any higher than that at the next on sale, I’d maybe hold back.
To summarise, Grand Circle slips are a bargain for £20. Wouldn’t go for them if they’re any higher than that.

Am I right in thinking that Tito Jackson is a producer/financial backer of Thriller? If so, I suspect that the recent allegations won’t affect the show. How would Tito Jackson's financial involvement remedy a potential slump in ticket sales, if you don't mind me asking? I suspect they wouldn’t close it as a result of the allegations as his connection may be made out as the family admitting some form of guilt.
