Yesterday wasn't, JOJ got a last minute call to go in the evening. Alfie did the matinee.

The Internet can be hysterical at times. I don't think she was joking either...
And I'm sure Alfie is sad enough to let people down, never mind the barrage of abuse he gets online from people who think performers just call out of shows casually on a whim. So rude.

JOJ on Insta "Alfie unable to perform tonight so a last minute phone call means I’m doing Valjean again for Show 36!"
I bet unplanned Saturday night shows for himself and MB's alernate/cover/understudy are a tough crowd!

First a few performers have mentioned it and now the official twitter.
A minority of this fan base really do need to sort themselves out, they are getting a terrible reputation in the industry.

I am confused by some of the criticism on this thread. This production is a concert and has been marketed as such. It's not billing itself as an acting masterclass.
We all know Ball and Boe's style. If you buy tickets to hear them sing, which is essentially what this production is, them singing, then I can't see you have any cause for complaint when they do just that.
If you want to see the production acted incredibly then head to Liverpool to see the touring production or to the theatre over the road when the fully staged version reopens.

I feel like I've heard so little about this cast compared to previous ones. Nikki doesn't seem to be on social media much which may be part of the reason. I think that's a very good point and Helen is rarely on at all too. I think the engagement (perhaps over engagement in some cases) on social media by some of the previous cast members cast definitely fuelled more repeat visits and more talk (because fans wanted tagged performers to see their posts and interact with them) There are few Helen fan pages. This won't be because of lack of talent by any means but more that she just doesn't engage online that much with fans so the fan pages won't get attention from her. So they don't bother. To be clear, I'm not saying her not engaging is a bad thing, far from it. It's her job when she is actually on stage, it's not her job to engage with fans 24/7 online.

Horrible evening at Motown the musical at Sunderland Empire tonight.
I've never seen the show before and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately it was completely spoilt by some of the worst audience members I have ever had the misfortune to sit in a room with.
First act I could not even concentrate on what was happening on stage and struggled to hear the dialogue as a group of, I suspect, drunk women about five rows back from me were talking constantly. This wasn't whispering. This was very loud talking. Talk talk talk Then a big shush. More talking. A more angry shush etc etc. This went on for about half an hour. Getting louder and louder. People were saying "shut up" but this selfish lot carried on. Why they were not removed I don't know but they spoilt the majority the first act for a huge amount of people. There was then some altercation with those around them who were really fed up by now and they stormed out. People cheered.
Second act another group (perhaps boosted by some interval bevvies) started. Chat chat chat and when the performers were singing they carried on chatting but louder. Almost shouting. Why they were there I do not know as they had no intention of listening to the music. They were in aisle seats so should have been noticed and slung out but, no, they remained to destroy the show for us all.
Two rows in front of them was the parents of the child in the show. I felt for them as when they were trying to enjoy his performance these idiots were carrying on.
Also, I have never seen so many people with weak bladders in a theatre. Around fifty people in the stalls must have got up during the first act and I wish I was exaggerating.
The sad thing is that this is a good show but was completely ruined for many by a small minority of very selfish people and more should really have been done to stop this. There was a security guard in the theatre auditorium, first time I have seen that, but he spent most of the time hiding at the front behind a pillar so I really did not see the point!

I thought it was OK when I went. I saw Kat. I am a Lucie fan but in no rush to return.
It seems to get plenty of repeat visits from "theatre stans" though.

Hasn't it just been extended to September 2020 so why would they announce another extension already?

Bonnie was on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show this morning talking about the show being broadcast in cinemas.
It was like old times. They also played we're in the money which cheered up my morning at work no end.

The part of her comment which I did not understand was when she said if it was not for the children she would have left That's not strictly what was said.

A lot of parents of children in the show have come out and said the children weren't invited to these parties anyway.
The Sun need to make up their mind. They're either slating her or sucking up to her (Dan Wootton, especially), there seems no middle ground.

New video. Carrie has "reset my boundaries"
Quite right too. I can't imagine how she has coped with this chaos for so long

I see the sun have run a story today saying Sheridan has been sacked from returning the show due to her behaviour.
She starts on the Stages cruise next week and I doubt the timing of the story is a coincidence.
Cannot believe why anyone still buys this sad excuse of a paper.

As well as Tweeting I hope they are informing the front of house staff where the offenders are.

Alfie off ill both shows today and people have travelled long distances and aren't happy... I can understand being disappointed, but I don't see the need to @ him on Twitter saying how devastated you are.
I'm sure he feels bad enough already without Elaine from Edinburgh sticking her five pence in.

It was a treat to see such a magnificent production outside London. Sadly, it's back to the "just ok" productions playing here for the forceeable future. I will definitely be travelling to see this show again. Very rarely do I give a production five stars but five stars just doesn't seem enough for this production. It really is stunning. What would you say to the people who appear to be boycotting it at the Sondheim because there's no revolve? Well, I thought I was going to be one of those people. However, having now seen it four times I could not imagine how a revolve would work in this production. There is certainly nothing lacking in the staging in any way.

I was looking out for this and, yes, she pushes him out of the way and she gets shot instead.
I ended up getting a return and going back on Friday. A treat to myself after a long week.
We had lots of covers on.
Mary-Jean Caldwell was Fantine. Jessie Hart was Eponine Shane O'Riordan was Marius (he is joining the new London cast so I assume he will still be covering Harry) Helen Aylott was Madame T
I thought all were excellent.
Sadly the show has now left Newcastle. Well they are packing up now, I just passed the theatre, and the banners have already changed outside.

Wow.. this show is f**ked. How can they have the ‘cheapest’ seats being £35? They deserve it to flop if they can’t offer any officially prices tickets for less than that. I have to agree. A ticket costing thirty pounds is often the difference between going or not going for me.

Danielle Steers has been quite vocal on social media about some Six fans who don't seem to realise that shows change cast.
Some theatre fans really are getting entitled and ridiculous.
