The writers really should have had @thematthew come riding past the National on his cow while the young man was flirting with Forrest , leaving them both befuddled and perhaps a bit fearful. Where is their creativity this season? We should have the pig and the chickens and Peggs in there somewhere too.....

Well I met a charming couple of my way home this afternoon. Walking towards me man, woman and baby in pram side by side leaving very little room on the pavement. I couldn't walk into the road as it's a busy main road so I stopped and stood against the wall. They made no attempt to walk single file and as they went last the woman actually went into me. I, (on hindsight a bad idea) said "that's a bit close" and the pair of them just tore into me with a tirade of abuse. Pretty much every word was a swear word. Very aggressive and intimidating. I even apologised, which I didnt need to do, but they just kept on. I was quite frightened and so just carried on walking. All I can think is that their child is going to turn out to be such a well mannered and rounded person. Sorry you had to go through this...it’s the sort of thing that would really shake me up. Give yourself a virtual high five for just walking away, put them in the box marked “idiots” (I could use stronger words but I won’t) and have a small treat of some kind to cheer yourself up.

Feeling incredibly overwhelmed with loneliness today. Living alone is bloody miserable in these times and I am utterly desperate for some proper human contact (i.e. a hug) and to see any family or friends. I feel like I want to punch the next person who tells me I'm lucky to have video calls because yes, they are something, but they are just not the same. Any talk of extending lockdown or things not starting to slowly go back to normal soon is becoming unbearable. I'm lucky I guess in that I have work as a distraction during the day but even that is becoming almost impossible to concentrate on now. I have no desire to do anything - I've just had a call from a neighbour asking if I can get her groceries again and I feel guilty but I can't bear the thought of going out to do anything at the minute. So sorry for you today. It’s not helpful being told you are “lucky” is it...because it is all about how you feel. I think we will all have bad days along the way. Perhaps try and just inhabit a different way of living for the day? Don’t listen to the news for the day (as all they do is endlessly speculate anyway)....but I realise sometimes nothing really helps. I find the video chats exhausting and not very satisfying....I think it’s all that “filling the silence?” I hope you feel better soon. This too will pass. *virtual hug*

I've seen some of the arguments that they're innocent and sure it makes me doubt. But could someone explain how Charles Ingram acted like a risk-taker in a show that is designed to play on your doubts that you can answer the increasingly difficult questions when you can take the money instead. I had another look at the episode on youtube ignoring the coughs (and not the one shown on the official WWTBAM channel where they keep saying LOOK THERE WAS A COUGH). So he had a shaky start in the first episode but maybe he was lucky to get questions he knew the answers to like 'The Ambassadors' and 'Anthony Eden' ones. Then you get the Born to do It, Baron Haussman and the million pound questions and he's doing a complete 180 on his answers. Maybe he was right when he said you only do this once, but the last two were the top tier questions with so much to lose. "I don't think its Paris". Couple of seconds later "there's a chance its Paris". He seemed so certain it was Berlin as he was convinced Hoblein painted The Ambassadors I never heard of Googol and yet I think that's the answer On a side note, why would ITV risk putting on a drama that could influence the public on whether the Ingrams were innocent? I thought this was a man who was trying very hard to be “entertaining” and interesting as, according to the defence, his wife had told him off after the first night for not being amusing enough! To me the completely daft behaviour seemed plausible if he was not very socially adept and trying hard to be “amusing”....have we all not seen people at parties trying too hard to be interesting and just coming across as bizarre or weird? It was enough to make me give credence to the possibility that he was innocence and therefore not convict on reasonable doubt.

Just a small point but vital...wearing a mask stops the person wearing the mask from spreading the virus if they cough (and have the virus of course).....it does not protect you if another person coughs near you and they are not wearing a mask.....so don’t go round thinking wearing a mask makes you safe. In fact it could make you less safe if it makes you feel safer and you go closer to people because you are wearing it....

I also bought into the theory that his wife had told him to be more interesting (as she thought interesting people were given easier questions as they made good television) after the first day and his idea of “interesting” was just downright weird!!! I actually thought the actor in the play gave a better portrayal of Ingram as being socially quite awkward than the one in the TV drama.... So all the changing of his mind and reading out all the answers and weird swerves were his idea of drama....

I thought there were lots of interesting things about the play/tv drama. Is it easier to think slightly unattractive people are guilty? If you are guilty of slightly cheating to get on the show does this make you likely to actually commit fraud on the show? If that’s a yes, does it mean anyone who parks on a yellow line or speeds may commit a crime? Where do we draw the line? If you find money in the street and don’t hand it in to the police are you are a bad persons? In these troubled times if you book a supermarket delivery when you aren’t shielding are you bad? Also interesting is people believing someone is guilty and then making evidence fit....the producers were sure the Ingrams were guilty and edited the audio tape so it picked up cough noises from microphones near the coughs....in reality it wouldn’t have sounded as loud on stage....and the original tape of sound was not available...it was destroyed?
As an analogy most of us would use every trick we know to get good theatre tickets when they are out (multiple browsers anyone?) but we would never dream of not actually paying for a ticket!
I do think there was reasonable doubt and they should not have been convicted.

I had the strangest day going to see the play...there was a burst water main I think outside the theatre and we didn’t know if it was going to go ahead, so took a leap of faith and caught the train from Oxford anyway...and the matinee did happen, but delayed till 3pm. Had a front row stage seat and was called on to participate in one of the Price is Right old gameshow recreations....I was woefully bad at guessing prices. I rather enjoyed the play without being knocked out by it....but it is interesting for us theatre obsessive....Ingram & co were obsessive about the show....and that chimed with me as people sometimes can’t believe the lengths we people here go to to obtain those elusive theatre tickets!!!!!! And even the fact that we may see two plays/shows in a day. Now if that buzzer machine would have made it easier to get tickets for an amazing hot ticket show at the Donmar I would have definitely been practicing!!!!

Great pictures! My dad and I did a 7 mile walk around our local area - nice to have all that fresh air. Barely saw a soul. No walks the next two days for me as I'm off to India working one of the rescue flights. Will be an experience for sure! Glad you had a better day Mark. Good luck on the rescue flight....strange times indeed. Will look up and think maybe it’s you if I see a plane!

Yesterday was a difficult day. I’m feeling very claustrophobic and trapped, and whilst I’m happy to be doing my bit and staying home, it’s not something I think I can mentally do for longer than a few more weeks. Im worried that the government furlough scheme is only through to the end of May. What’s the exit strategy? We need to know. Hang in there Mark. Totally normal to have difficult days. Be weird if we didn’t really. I hope you have a better day today x

Sharing here for all those who cant get out and get shopping and cant get supermarket delivery...this is really good. Stuff comes straight from Morrisons warehouse via DPD next day delivery, chilled. Meat box typically containers sausages, steak mince, cheese, PASTA, chicken breasts, bacon etc etc. Twitter search shows more but looks very good and at £35 good value too. There is a veggie one to choose if preferred. Please dont use if you can get food but this is DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR if needed and delivery dates are close (click though order to see when) If it goes out of stock check back later as they keep putting more up. www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/how-it-works

I think it is hard for the over 70sused to popping to the shop every day for their paper...it is so much part of their lives and they feel they are helping society by being independent....and that if they get ill that’s a rink they are prepared to take. The Gov haven’t really got the message through that they are putting OTHERS at risk if they get ill and that, even if they are not seriously ill, the more contact points we have the more it spreads. They are beginning to get the idea (2 of my village friends have this week said their children have told them they mustn’t go out). I had to gently tell one that no, I wouldn’t get her paper every day and pop it in to her. And that I was happy to do shopping but only essentials and I was trying to go to the shop as little as possible as it’s only small, so not actually much room to share round! I think the Government has been quite poor at their messaging. Even today Boris was “keep to the guidance” which is a silly phrase and not a slogan to stick in the mind and the heath secretary was incapable of parroting the 3 phrased that were plastered all over his podium correctly!!!!

Deeply unimpressed to see that 2 doors down are entertaining visitors in their back garden. That's their second lot that I've seen since the start of the lockdown. What's the point of some of us shutting ourselves up for weeks if other people are happily socialising? Remember it is overall behaviour that counts...so some people will be great at this (you) and others will be useless. It will still have an effect as will make network smaller....so they probably do modelling assuming some people will be rubbish at it. Try not to waste energy on it and give yourself a pat on the back for all of the network that you personally are shutting down

Sorry, didn’t mean to criticise. And I really feel for you The Matthew. We all have to support each other and I apologise if my post was insensitive. Is there anything we can do to help? Happy to email privately (if you are still speaking to me!) to offer more contact....

I think we have to be reasonable....we should be doing enough exercise to not actually stagnate but if we are to leave room for all the people who have NO GARDENS to be out in then probably stay close to home and not be “greedy’ taking up the outdoor space. I know it’s hard...I love long walks. The whole point about not travelling to places by car for exercise is to minimise car traffic....less cars, less accidents, less call on emergency services, less need for breakdown people, roads clearer for people who ACTUALLY need to travel for caring duties, food delivery, army, logistics etc CFC. This is NOT a drill folks. And we should probably not be popping into the bakery if we fancy a sausage roll....each contact with another human, no matter how fleeting, is the increase in risk. It’s about minimising the network for spread by minimising contacts......Try and shop once a week for the bare minimum. Shop solo (I was annoyed yesterday as couples were in the Co-op....taking up valuable space!). Be proud about how you are NOT taking up that space in the shop and are leaving it free for other folks!

Yesterday was the funeral for my partner Grant who died last month from leukemia. Thankfully the palliative care process was short and the NHS was astounding. The service was beautiful and very much a celebration. For anyone who is interested here is clip of him meeting his idol on channel 5 ] So sorry for your loss. He looks like he was a very special person x

I’m afraid I think they will have to ban all people going out as people always have the same idea to go to the same place.....just look at bank holidays. I know it’s hard and I love walking (alone!) in the countryside but we need t understand that this is necessary. No travel. Cancel caravans etc travelling, close campsites, everyone just sheltering in their homes for a bit. It is not a holiday. Deliver food boxes to those who cant go out. War footing required. Not nudge stuff....not quick enough.

I am pretty well but have a tickly chest...best described as when I breathe in deeply I can feel it tickle....so have rung work to say I am self isolating for a week. They are a bit short staffed but I reckon I am better being on the safe side. I very rarely get coughs (some people are more susceptible than others) so perhaps this is my own personal version! I feel fine in myself Hope you all feel better soon! X

First two rows not available to book for members...best £15 seats are row K extreme side of stalls...little row of 4 high seats. I hate it when they announce and you book instantly....it does not seem very fair on all the people doing other things at the time! Plus makes organising with others pretty tricky!

I am always amused when people say we don’t need another production of a good play. I still remember the thrill of watching The Crucible at The Old Vic a few years ago and had never seen it and did not know the plot. It was brilliant. There are always people who are new to theatre.....and a good play is always a good play. Just because you have seen it doesn’t mean everyone has!!!!

Stephen Tompkinson and Jessica Johnson in this and were excellent at today’s matinee. Word perfect as they start touring again until May. Such a clever play and as relevant today as it was when it first came out. Recommended.

I had quite forgotten how rude this board could be. Sometimes, like I suspect other board users, I'm sitting by myself and just trying to strike up a conversation. Something about Czech culture and smoking perhaps. Or whether at 82 there might be a case for sorting out somewhere out of the rain for someone to smoke. I'm not one to go off in a huff (in my mid 50's I'm past that) but I certainly feel quite upset at this. This board can be so helpful in its advice and opinions about productions but is clearly a place to be avoided if, like me, you are feeling a bit fragile. Sending a bit of board love. Ienjoyed the chat, jek, and enjoyed hearing that you saw him...I saw him once and it brought it back to me. X
