You can hire a sort of basket contraption that you sit in.....you sit on one bit and then the attached bit makes a sort of seat back for you! It looks a little like half a cage but I have seen people using them!

Has anyone stood in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, right at the back of the upper, in the corner, "blocked by a candelabra"? How did you cope? I stood once at the Wanamaker - not very comfortable and someone fainted (and cruelly we were relieved because when she left we had a little more room) - it feels very claustrophobic. I was more to the side than the corner and could see probably 1/2. At another performance, when I was seated, at the interval, I heard some standing people saying that they might as well be listening to the radio, they were missing so much. Sorry not to be more positive, but maybe others have had a better experience? I always book the back row in the circle as at least there you have a back of the seat to lean on! However, even there it is very uncomfortable as you can't tuck your feet under the seat, so makes for a very strange unnatural position. Always hire a cushion!

So, essentially, this is like 'Game'? A weak script with a great design? The design is only great in the last five minutes. That's a long wait for anything great... And the dramatic bit went wrong again yesterday matinee....stage manager came on, apologised, curtain down, 3 mins wait, then up with curtain and carry on......you would think they could have got it working perfectly by now!

I loved the books as I read aloud the first two to my children and they have such magical descriptions of her "world" that it was lovely. Read them before all the hype, as proved by the fact that my second Harry Potter book is a first edition! I also wrongly pronounced Hermione the whole time, as had never heard of the name at the time....Herm...ee...onie she will always be to me and my girls! Then we used to wait until midnight to buy each new book and had to eventually buy 3 copies so me and them could read at the same time (and agree not to talk about them until husband then read one!) I agree she needed a more ruthless editor by the end of the series and she clearly made up some of the plot as she went along but they will always hold a special place in my heart!

Website really is rubbish. They have a message under "my membership" trait tries to explain why dates don't turn bookable.....and it suggests picking the date you want. But on tablets that select date button does not work (and I have told them so!) Plonked around for a bit and then it seemed to let me book no problem...I don't know what I did to change things! ARRRRG!

I have to think that we are all somewhat missing the point here.....if Rufus has to ban +1s for critics it seems like penny pinching cost cutting. It is rather like a large company cutting back on the biscuit fund when times are hard. In the grand scheme of things it will make no difference at all to the profit the NT makes....he needs to have shows that sell out and are popular! Simple.

Saw this recently having got a £15 ticket for near middle of Row B. Ticket said it was restricted view, but could see nothing restricted about it. So, bargain! The play totally hooked me. Definitely worth catching. That's where I was too...best restricted seat ever!

I was at the matinee yesterday and really enjoyed it. I loved how the relationship between the workmates developed...we cannot choose who we work with and sometimes it takes ages to get to know them and then something surprising or just very personal pops out....and it felt very real. I loved the phone conversation....with pauses the real length of time...as the person next to me remarked it felt almost embarrassing to be listening as it felt so real, like eavesdropping on a very personal conversation. I loved how a third person can throw a spanner in the works....relationships between friends never stay the same for ever. Of course it was the same person who did Mirror Circle Transformantion...she's a star!

Woyzeck I know really well and have seen a lot. Fingers crossed for this Woyzeck squarely aimed at young adults with lead actor John (Star Wars) Boyega in a new version by Jack (Harry Potter) Thorne directed by Joe (Nabokov) Murphy. Hated the version Woyzeck on the Highveld that came to Oxford some years ago.....but loved how Jack Thorne adapted Let the Right One In....that was splendid. I think inertia may win in the end....I am grumpy at the Old Vic and their 2 interval leanings....it sort of makes the cheap previews difficult for us travellers from afar and the normal ticket prices are too steep for me! Plus they never sold my cheap ticket when I returned it (as preview was too long)...magically released lots of unsold seats the day before when the show had been sold out! Grump, grumble....

The stairs are particularly bad as they are not all the same....so you can't get into a rhythm at all when walking down them. Some of the worst I have come across! And then it is also possible to shoot down a nasty gap when pushing past peole's legs to try and get to your seat! I am always extra careful here as I am naturally quite clumsy....I currently bear bruises from tripping up the escalator at Marylebone while rushing for the train....

{Spoiler - click to view}So for me this was all a bit "Bobby Ewing in the shower"....I thought the end scene made it obvious that it was all the mother's imagination....she was not in a spaceship (there was a tree outside the window for the last scene) and she said she had always wanted to travel to space? The strange child, sassy colleague and woman coming to the rescue were all her daughter as she sort of invaded all her thoughts.....so she was the strongest memory when her mother got Alzheimers?/Lost her mind...... Having said that I quite liked it and enjoyed how people swapped phrases and stories throughout...and it did make sense by the end for me.

Well I am looking forward to it - week after next. Booked very early as I somehow thought there would be a rush for tickets and the £25 Wednesday matinee seemed a good bargain. Could probably have got the same price for any performance. Good seats though, so I don't mind. I am front row matinee on Wednesday (lots of hair!) A6 I think, so come and say hello if you get the chance!

Not-too-off-the-wall-question: Regarding the intervals, are they long enough for a visit to the Ladies and a return before the curtain goes up? I live in dehydrated fear on theatre nights. 3 hours sounds like a killer. Thanks. I would recommend the loos up in the roof ....2 floors up...if you can manage the stairs quite well! There are lots up there and a hidden gem!

Really enjoyed this today with rather elderly matinee audience around me "Oh, the playwright is American then?" , "What's happening now?" " The box is rather good isn't it" etc etc. I felt like I had secret extra knowledge, having seen the first part at the Alemida all those years ago! It was quite surreal as the box set was EXACTLY the same and the scenes were even in the same places so it was a tad freaky as it was now in another theatre and I didn't remember the set in detail until I saw it! Loved the way the characters had changed and that the dilemmas were all turned on their heads a bit...and yes, quite Chekhov in places...useless indecisive men, letting down sassy women all over the place! Looking forard to part 3. Wouldn't it be great if the women decided to rule the world and not just hang around waiting for the men to love them? Oh and a play that had one interval and had finished and thrown us all out onto the street 2 hours 15mins later! Hurrah! (Yes Old Vic, I'm looking at you!)

When I looked this morning there was one ticket left....now quite a lot of tickets on the website. ..can't guarantee to sell mine as not sold out. Hmmmm. Won't refund ...I am not very impressed. Plus to sell it I has to get email, fill on all sorts of details on a form and mail back, despite having order number and leaving ticket at box office! Go to the bottom of the class Old Vic!

Have given back ticket for tomorrow night (Wed) due to long running time. They are taking the mickey with two intervals and as I am on my own it's too boring to spend 40mins just standing around, just for the pleasure of making me much later home! I doubt they will learn from their mistake.... It's not even as though one can get out quickly at the end...takes ages to shuffle out of the Old Vic! Disappointed as was looking forward to this....

I always pay the £2 to return a ticket (I think it is a great service, wish others did the same!) but I never add a voluntary donation when booking...so I think of these £2s as my donations! It is surprising how many people do not know they can give back tickets for credit, no reason needed, and I always leave the tickets at the box office to make it easier!

Paul Birchard as understudy for Antony Sher in Death of a Salesman at Stratord. Saw the understudy performance and it was a towering performance! Much preferred it to Sher.

I really enjoyed this production, despite sitting on a bench, and that is a testament to how good it is! Loved Dominic Rowan, soooo funny, and thought Phoebe Pryce and McMullan and Nixon were excellent. It was my first Tempest so I have nothing to compare it with! I liked how Nixon played the spirit as being very alien and other-worldly and thought the chemistry between her and McMullan was lovely. And his voice...I could listen to it all day!

Booked cheap £45 seats for the "3 Chekhovs in a day" this morning but a right scramble to find any cheap front tickets....in the end I think I probably got 2 singles that had been thrown back by people (perhaps if credit cards failed?) Anyway, checking tonight all the cheap seats have gone, but strangely half of the auditorium is sold out for each date....with the RHS as you look at the stage being well sold but the usual patchy mix of seats left...not a single seat on the LHS available....I think they may be holding some of the seats back?
