I heard that nothing is planned for the final show.

Is You Don't Know in this version? It was plugged into the most recent Off-Broadway production but never got an official recording.
I'd be interested to see if they've made any changes to the book or content. It's from 2000, and 19 years later, gay politics and life in 2019 (especially in America) is radically different in many ways.

I know that some people look down on riffing. My mother in particular always says that people who riff "couldn't hold a note in a bucket". But you really do need to be damn good at singing to be able to carry it off with any aplomb. You don't have to enjoy listening to it, but there's no need to incorrectly put down performers who do it by haughtily implying they're unskilled. I don't think anyone has implied any of the aforementioned performers are unskilled. Calm down. *Raises hand* I did!

I dunno guys..Adam is talented, but this is really going against type by casting him as Magaldi. Maybe they're purposely doing this to create a rather uncomfortable dynamic between him and Eva?

I agree - I really enjoyed the arena tour, and for its time, I think it had a bit of a cool vibe. Cast wise, Tim Minchin was excellent, and I loved his singing. Mel C was great too. Ben wasn't good and couldn't hit the money note.

But what is a historically accurate JCS? Even the most iconic images of what the world perceives as Jesus are based on European attire worn during the Renaissance. The score and its references are anachronistic and "concept" to begin with, and so a literal and "historically accurate" setting would fall flat.

So riffing in musical theatre is a funny thing. I can't bare it in pop music and in X Factor where wannabes riff their way through a song partly as that seems to be the current pop sound but partly no doubt as they do not have the technical ability to hit clean notes. MT actors generally have learned to sing in a much more disciplined way and can hit clean crisp notes (it's what I love about MT). But when they add in the occasional riff (and it really must not be over used) it can be incredibly effective IMO. Some of the later Eponines have done this (Rosalind James on the 25th tour very much so) which I know a lot of people hate but I do like it when used sparingly. Ditto the Kerry Ellis growl in Defying Gravity and the Ashleigh Gray one in Cool Rider. That. Also, in all occasions, MT singers/actors who chose to modulate or have an alternate note here have the consent of the MD, who has the composer's proxy. Riffing is not a character choice. Riffing is a display of singing ability. So I think if you chose to riff, you have to be really good at it and must absolutely nail it. Otherwise, just focus on singing the damn song the way it's written and get that right before you chose to show off but suck at it. Speaking of Ashley Gray, why isn't she Jenna?! We need to get her out of the alternate Elphaba rut. She's far too likable and talented not to be constantly working.

She sounded amazing at WEL on Sunday. In fact the 3 songs they did made me now want to see the show. You like Sheridan Smith, so the bar is low.

Just by looking at her publicity shots, there's something remarkably un-star like about Lucy Jones. Then I heard her rendition of She Used To Be Mine on a radio show and was quite underwhelmed with her vocals. There's also some second rate Shoshana Bean riffing that she's borrowed.

I'm seeing the final performance! So happy to qualify for a student discount all over again. Are we have pre-show drinks? Apparently a handful of us are going.

This is probably the Asia tour just heading West by the time it concludes its current scheduled runs. The current cast is truly international, but I would think it'll have a UK cast by the time it hits the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if its current Phantom sticks around. The tour Christine is pretty fantastic too. A legit opera singer whose done the US tour of Love Never Dies. Though it's the original design there are some scaled back elements.

BWW also posts bootlegs. Their source is..wait, there's no source. They're just reporting on the news that went viral and not reporting a producer's press announcement.

I don't put the posters past him. He's a serial liar. The ATG website is the only thing that stops me from completely dismissing this. l just don't trust anything that comes from him.

I saw the ATG page too. But I'm saying..majorly sketchy. Why? Because he makes things up all the time. Dolly with Bernadette...Jagged Little Pill..Tyrone Huntley as Evan Hansen.

Is he likely to be going to the extent of photoshopping artwork to make it look official? YES Although...I did see an ATG page. It had no listing or any information on it but did have a Sunday in the Park with George URL.

The show was predictable and bland. SBJ and Sontana were expecting it and had a "oh, you better American Theatre Wing" look and tone. Rachel Chavkin, Andre DeShield, Ali Stoker and the Boys in the Band had moments that were real. But the best moment was one that wasn't televised, and it was this:

Seems unlikely. Chavkin is so busy with new projects. She's at least got Moby Dick which will have a full production towards the end of the year, and Łempicka is gearing for a Broadway transfer, last I heard. I also think she's developing Black Swan. I'd say Comet is out of the question, and Hadestown might take some time.

I do too, as a period piece. And to be honest, I also thought the show was entertaining, despite being problematic.

The 'dated' look is on purpose. The show absolutely gives you no *real* indication of when it's set. There is no trace of a cell phone or any technology. It's as BROAD-WAY as it can get with a broad, and brassy score with an overture to boot. (how many of those do you have around?). They make it look timeless because their intension is to make it run as long as it can and have the throwback '90s Broadway musicale genre. Just watch footage of The Goodbye Girl.
I actually think the score is just fine. I Know What's Going to Happen is a killer of a number. I take a different issue with the show. In 2019, are we still laughing about a man in a dress? How many crotch tucking jokes do we need to sit through, and how often must we witness a straight character having gay panic when he finds out they've been courting a woman who is a dude? How would an audience member, who is trans, feel about when this is the reality of their daily lives that is being turned into a joke? And how would working women, actresses or otherwise, feel when watching a show about a man taking credit and success by cheating and manipulating the system? These things happen and they are topical, but the show and its creators take a different approach and don't even attempt to turn this into anything meaningful.

Ramin has aged out of the part. Moses and Ramses.will be played by younger men who deal with pressures of leading their own people. Basically both of them will be adulting throughout the evening and each becoming his own man.

They haven't done any fanfare with their cast recording announcement. It comes out on Friday and I Won't Let You Down is already out.

And somehow he continues to continuously get work. I hope this opens doors for him so that he can move on and gets replaced with someone better.
