Like so many things, everyone is wiser after the event. Who would have though deranged people would have used a couple aircrafts as guided missiles and crashed them in 2 tower blocks, afterwards, when you stick it and analyse the event under a microscope, it was all too easy and waiting to happen. Or suicide bomb public transport and they looked to replicate their evil deed again 2 weeks later. Sadly 84 people are now dead, many children, it has left big holes in some families, who will be grieving and won't ever comprehend why this happened, with many families losing loved ones, also many people would have life changing injuries, but for what? What is their message? What don't they like? That we are free to select who we put in government FREELY, we are FREE how we spend and distribute our money, we are FREE to practice what religion we choose or abstain all together, that we can FREELY love and marry who we want regardless of sexuality or same sex partner, we have FREEDOM to change our sexuality, if we so wish, what in their twisted and warped ideology do they want? So so sad, particularly for the children involved. My heart beaks for these families.

Some of the stories in this thread are astonishing. However, this made me smile. I don't understanding eating at the theatre at all to be honest. Nor do I like bad smells (there is nothing worse than getting stuck next to a smoker because they always stink after the interval). So the worst thing for me is smelly food at a theatre. I just don't understand why people don't think things through in advance. That all said, one of my most embarrassing moments at the theatre was when I attended with a friend and as soon as the lights went down she pulled a Big Mac out of her handbag.

Thanks for starting this thread as it's good to read others' views on the subject.
I have gone to see plays/musicals, with no idea who is starring in them and not that bothered. The title can just sound good!
At other times I have visited the theatre to see a particular leading man/lady. I think there is no greater disappointment when armed with those wrapper free sweets and slurp free drink, it is announced that 'Today the leading lady/man is replaced by'. The heart sinks!
I know very often the cast for the day is shown in the foyer. Perhaps the heart sinking for replacement leading man/lady at this point of realiastion, isn't quite so low as one can always purchase some extra wrapper free sweets and slurp free drink to help compensate?!
It is a difficult situation for the theatre to deal with as quite obviously they can't refund all the charrabang full of fan club goers who's idol isn't appearing but making it clear in the foyer beforehand either by announcement or a clear statement by the entrance, to me would be welcome. I could then decide if I want to carry on in or head for the pub to drown my sorrows (dwelling on those wasted plane tickets and hotel stays, incurred in such a visit).
Oh and the theatre can then make more profit with a possible further ticket being bought to see that 'star'.

So sad. Undoubted comedy genius, and capable of great poignancy when she turned her hand to it too. Probably caused me to laugh more than any other single entertainer/ writer ever. Her work definitely had a formative effect on my sense of humour. Glad that I once, many years ago very briefly, met her and got an opportunity to thank her personally for the laughs. The faces and voices of my youth and childhood are fading very quickly this year, Another very sad day, in what is turning out to be a year of losing some 'greats'.

What a great review Stevejohnson678.
For most of Act One and the early part of Act Two, however, this is a terrific, fun evening at the theatre. The central performances of Hannah Price, Joanna Sawyer and Gareth Gates, combined with the hard-working efforts of the talented ensemble, help ensure that the majority of the show soars and easily eclipses previous touring productions of Footloose. Holding on for a Hero and Let's Hear it For The Boy are perhaps the two standout moments, brilliantly staged and performed. Gareth Gates steals the limelight in both numbers but there's lots taking place around him for those not easily distracted by the sight of gold or bad dance moves! The show does lose its way in the middle of Act Two, but recovers to finish with the iconic title track and the obligatory euphoria of an encore medley. The audience at the Palace Theatre on Friday evening needed little invitation to finish the night on their feet, cutting loose and dancing in the aisles!
This last paragraph sums up the whole show. Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't know. I didn't buy a programme and I didn't look at any cast listing in the entrance (shame on me). Sometimes one can focus on a certain individual in a performance and for me it was her (as well as Bert). If it was her she was brill!!

Have just posted this in the Mary Poppins thread
I have seen two musicals in two weeks. This one where I know the film almost word for word and the other (which I will post later) I had no idea of the film. Not sure which is the best? Here is the later post! I haven't seen the film and had no idea of the story so my expectations weren't as high as Mary Poppins but enjoyed the show very much. Each and every one on stage gave a superb performance and whilst the scenery was basic (compared to Mary Poppins) it matched the simpleness of the story. For me the cast playing their instruments on stage while dancing too, was amazing. Well done to them for their enthusiasm and energy. It is certainly a show I would love to see again.

I saw this last Friday as well and loved it, some bits did seem a little bit slow but the dance numbers and costumes more than kept my spirits up. I loved Matt Lee as Bert and thought he was fantastic in the role, it made me want to learn to tap especially on the roof!! I couldn't keep my eyes off Zizi when she was on stage her mannerisms and facial expressions just drew your eye towards her. Glad I've finally managed to see it as had been waiting for the show to come back to the UK for an age after missing out last time. I have got myself the Mary Poppins umbrella and now searching ebay for a shirt so I can be Mary Poppins at Halloween haha! I have seen two musicals in two weeks. This one where I know the film almost word for word and the other (which I will post later) I had no idea of the film. Not sure which is the best? I loved this musical (mostly). (However I kept harping back to the film and wanted it to be a replica) I have to agree with you Musicalfloozie that some bits did seem a bit slow but the dance numbers and costumes (and the set) kept my spiriis up too. The stand out performance for me was Bert. He was amazing and deserved the standing ovation he received. My other favourite was Mrs. Brill (have had to check here to see who was playing the parts as didn't buy a programme www.marypoppins.co.uk/) I thought she was a natural. Loved the voice of the Bird Woman too. The set and the special effects were absolutely amazing and to see Mary Poppins travel above the audience was incredible. Well done her for having confidence in her wire supports! Well done to all the cast for their vitality.
