I have to admit I do take my shoes off, due to foot/leg issues, but I have impeccable hygiene.

Tinu Craig is directing the first Minerva play in the season, with an all-African cast.
Between this and Natalie's play 2018 appears to be the year CFT discovered diversity (slightly tongue in cheek, before I spark any heated debate).

Tonight's prize specimen was at least - to her limited credit - undisruptive enough that I couldn't be bothered saying anything to her or to FOH at the time, but not so much so that I'm not going to come on here and complain. So if you were the BRILLIANT woman at the Young Vic who thought it was appropriate to take photos (and possibly film?) during the show, please check the back of your ticket for conditions of sale, or stay at home next time. I do hope that you find yourself in the years ahead unable to remember the beautiful show you saw because your memories of the show itself have been replaced by flat dull memories of nothing more than the photos you took. Was that the Jungle? People don't seem to realise that just because the staging is designed to make you feel like you're in a cafe, doesn't mean you can act like you're in a cafe.

Natalie Abrahami is directing a new play in the Minerva. Not allowed to reveal details but it sounds pretty interesting.

Two obnoxious young women at the Young Vic the other night. Spent the entire time canoodling (less annoying) and loudly chatting (more annoying) to overt glares from some of the cast, then walked out 15 minutes into the first half leaving all their stuff inside, leading to a minor security alert in the interval. Then bafflingly returned for the second half, resumed their conversation, and were the first to lead a standing ovation!

I sat on Pirate once (by accident!) but I don't think his shyness is entirely my fault. Thanks for posting, I love these kinds of articles.

That's extremely kind of you. I do personally feel that the Bush is doing good work in terms of commissioning new writing, and community engagement, but I am happy to feed back any suggestions for how to make the venue more welcoming to audiences. Happy new year to you also.

Oh dear!!! Royal court wasn’t forthcoming?? Yes, I've had two very small productions on at the Court, nothing downstairs but both Vicky and Ola have been extremely supportive (as they are towards so many young artists) and without them I doubt I'd have half the career I have. Why do you ask? It's certainly extraordinary that it's only when you're there that the audience is allegedly so small.

I don't need to ask anyone, I had a play on there, I have a long professional relationship with the Bush dating back several years, and I have access to actual ticket sales info.
V amusing hearing what non-industry people think though!

And still was not full Those statements are complete and utter lies.

So basically anything Parsley doesn't personally like shouldn't exist? (99% of all theatre then.) What a horrible, bigoted attitude.
The Bush regularly sells out and has amazing ticket sales, and punches far above their weight in terms of critical acclaim. They are beloved by the local community (they run several community programmes) and exist to serve an audience demographic that is woefully underserved by the mainstream theatre industry. They do more to encourage and develop new talent and especially diverse new talent than most theatres out there. What other small theatre gives out the same number of new writing commissions per year?
But they aren't making theatre exclusively for old white men so obviously the Parsleys of this world froth at the mouth. Nothing interesting in the Daily Mail that day, I guess.

I'm sorry but crying because a theatre pulls a show is the very definition of snowflake.
A good friend of mine is involved in the Andrea project and it looks to be something special.

If you do make the change at Green Park, follow the exit signs on the platform and take the escalator up to the ticket hall, and then take the other escalator down to the new platform. Far quicker and easier than traversing all the tunnels.

I've left suitcases in the NT cloakroom before (when coming straight from the airport) but that was pre- current security issues.

V much enjoyed actors freely slagging off the Old Vic and even the Evening Standard itself.
And there's always a certain level of schadenfreudastic joy in seeing an actor you hate lose an award to someone you know they hate. (If there was an emoji for petty what would it be?)

Pomona (play and production) was developed at the Royal Court. Well, kind of. It was developed by the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was performed in Cardiff and at the Gate as part of a student showcase. The Court collaborated in supporting the development of the RWCMD showcase plays but Pomona's first professional production was at the Orange Tree. Certainly it's considered an Orange Tree play.

I never went to the Orange Tree till Paul took over so I can't comment on how it's changed, but for my money he's doing some of the most radical and challenging work in London (Pomona and An Octoroon could give anything at the Court a run for their money). He really has put the Orange Tree on the map.
I love Josie Rourke as a person and as a director and I prefer her productions than Grandage's, but the Donmar feels soulless and focused on making money now. I never go to the Donmar anymore unless I know someone in it, because I feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable there.
I love how everyone is conspicuously not mentioning the Globe.

I always stay at the Premier Inn (£29 in the PM sale, bargain).
An all-day breakfast from the Wetherspoons on Sheep Street has often fortified me against the harsh Midlands winter.
I'm all class, me.

I don't know if I'm being really thick or what, but why was it such a big deal that Ellida's husband had taken her away from the sea and that she was going crazy with longing for the sea, when they were clearly still living within sight and easy walking distance of the sea?
