So from the looks of the statement, Frozen is being pushed back to next year in London?

Thought it was good! Acting was very good indeed, and gorgeously filmed. Just not gushing over it in a “this is the best thing there's ever been” way as so many have done online. I've enjoyed other things far more recently, but not to put this down. Still very well done.

I've enjoyed the celeb one more and more with each ep. 1 was cute, 2 was great fun and 3 was just brilliant, one of the funniest eps of any Drag Race and the guys were just fantastic!

Re: Isolation Stories, I wasn't sure whether I really wanted to watch drama about what we're going through while we're going through it but I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's ep with Robert Glenister and co. Quite moving and some funny parts.

Yeah absolutely loved watching this concert, never seen it in full before! What a brilliant event and some fantastic names. Glenn Close was the absolute stand-out for me. I wondered why they didn't get any Phantom involved, not even to sing the title track or Music of the Night. But not that important. Fascinating to see Dame Kiri sing what would become Love Never Dies. I always thought it was written for The Beautiful Game as Our Kind of Love then recycled for LND, but after some research I discovered that it was originally written in the 90's as The Heart is Slow to Learn, intended for a sequel to Phantom. Then it got used for Beautiful Game before finally ending up as LND, being used as was originally intended. What a strange life that song has had!

Just caught up, much better than the play version for me. how much of the court case is true? Did the jury really all start coughing or is that just artistic spin? That happened! As did the Judge asking Chris Tarrant if that was his “final answer”!

For me, BC's performances as the creature was outstanding. His physical acting was a true masterclass and I thought his vocal performance was spot on, I was with him all the way. I found he was far more childlike than JLM, who I felt was a bit too placed and choreographed, I didn't believe it half as near as much as I did BC, especially in the opening 10 mins or so. Not to diminish JLM's performance at all, but it felt like he was just going through the motions at points, whereas I thought BC was in it from start to finish and I was absolutely exhausted by the end! In fact, there's something about the JLM creature performance on the whole that felt a bit more lacking and labored than the BC creature performance. But as I say, that is completely just me!

Looks like that was the reason:
I am SO grateful to the NT and all involved for showing this, I loved it. The first 25 mins were a real physical acting masterclass from BC, I couldn't quite believe it. And what I would give to have seen this live and felt the full force of that filament bulb installation!! Can't wait to watch the swapped version, too. I feel like Victor is a part that would suit BC far more than the creature but his creature was simply outstanding so I can't wait to see his take on Victor and JLM's creature!

Watched it last night with my parents. I saw it live and really enjoyed it so I was really happy when the NT announced that it was part of the NT at home scheme and I wanted my parents to see it! They were a bit tentative but they hugely enjoyed it! Read them a synopsis before we watched so even if they weren’t sure on what was being said, they'd at least have a rough idea of what was going on. I still maintain, as I thought at the time, that far too much of the comedy is really overplayed. Olivia especially, it just seems really out of character. But I actually think, on the whole, I enjoyed it more re-watching it. It's a great play and this is a very good, accessible production which looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous. Whilst Tamsin Greig also overplays some of the comedy, she really really nails it and it's a show-stopping performance. Her final scene gave me goosebumps. Can't wait for Frankenstein.

According to the Sondheim thread, forever...whatever that is!!! So the Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration concert (sigh). I just spent the past two and a half hours watching this and (I'm not gonna lie to you) I feel an enormous amount of frustration. It is clear the amount of time and effort that has gone into this and instead of some formal concert with women in glitzy dresses and men in tuxedos in a formal concert environment, they have done incredibly well with the zooming technology and have picked the crop of (mainly) current Broadway performers. The talent- outstanding and the messages sincere however it just frustrates me that they are all there to raise funds for their charitable cause and celebrate the life of a living legend, yet with so many songs to choose from ,some shows were completely left out! How can this be? Look, I LOVE Sondheim- love him, his shows and everything even remotely Sondheimish-I wanna be him for Christmas. Lol! However, surely if you're celebrating the life of such a highly recognised genius, how can you just completely leave shows out? Despite making visual references, there was nothing from West Side Story, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum or RoadShow. We got one song only from Passion and Pacific Overtures. We got one song only from Assassins that was cut! So not even a song that anyone knew! Only two songs from A Little Night Music? ?? RoadShow may as well never exist! I loved What Can You Loose from the Dick Tracey movie that Judy Khun sang. Also Ladies Who lunch by Christine Baranski, Meryl Street and Audra McDonald Randy Rainbow I just found both distracting and disturbing in equal measure- so much so, that I just skipped ahead. Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford singing More On-just sublime. No even a decent picture or photograph of Sondheim himself. Perhaps I raise both the bar and my expectation too high but as pleased as I am to have seen this, don't need to see this again. Grrr! Gosh you found quite a lot to complain about in such a wonderful, free event! I'd hazard that since Sondheim didn't write the music for either WSS or Gypsy, none of the artists involved chose to sing from those shows. The above board member is right, seeing as the artists are claimed to have chosen their own songs, I’m not surprised that some of the more obscure or political shows didn't get as much air-time as others. As much as we're here to celebrate Sondheim (which they certainly did!), you don't want to alienate people with 2 1/2 hours of completely unknown music even though many watching will have been pursuits. Personally I would've liked to have heard Being Alive, but when I think back to what we *did* get, I’m hardly in a position to complain. Also, what was “distracting” and “disturbing” about Randy Rainbow? I found that an interesting thing for you to say. He provided one of the few moments of comedy during the event.

I recently saw saw on iplayer the Prom that marked his 80th. A much more satisfactory 'show'. Worth checking out Personally I don't know how the two can even be compared. We are so lucky to be getting the content we're getting for free.

As well as it sold when it was originally put on sale, I do wonder how many people will feel like spending £600 for a ticket once this is all over!

For anyone that may be interested, there's an accompanying podcast to this called Final Answer. One podcast per episode, 35/40 mins each (perfect to listen to on a daily walk!) with contributions from editors, producers, costume, hair, make up and writer James Graham of course! Some insight into putting it all together, from re-creating the WWTBAM set, fake teeth and wigs, editing real-life footage with recorded footage and what is fact and what they took artistic license with!

I heard that Phantom was only 24 hrs not 48 because of something to do with rights? Not sure on the ins and outs. Isn't it on Sky Arts tomorrow? Maybe that's why? Yes I think you're right! I was coming here to say just that as Ramin has just tweeted that those in the UK who missed it, can watch on Sky Arts tomorrow as it “goes back” on there. I guess Sky own the rights to that performance as they tend to show that, Les Mis 25 and Saigon 25 semi-regularly so they “let” ALW put it on YouTube for 24 hrs.

I wonder if Ink could be given a similar treatment on the small screen? I think it's a story that would attract similar interest! It’s in development as a film, I think it’d be a slightly harder sell than Quiz. Oh is it??? That's interesting!

I tried Jane Eyre but I just couldn't get into it unfortunately - it was all a bit GCSE drama for me but potentially just how it comes across on screen. Not sure about Treasure Island but very excited about Twelfth Night. Saw it live but can't wait to see it again. Also excited to see what the next batch of shows are (hopefully there's more!)

This was really wonderful! A nice surprise and a huge treat in this lockdown, thanks CFT. A few minor gripes - Clare Burt was beautiful and heartbreaking but really seemed to struggle with the score. Claire Machin had this really weird, affected talking voice as Violet, it was quite off-putting. As was Laura Pitt-Pulford's French accent.
Other than that, the score was so rich, dense and complex - I was not expecting that! Louis Maskell as Andre was a real highlight and the finale was seriously gorgeous. Set was so, so simple but really effective. Very happy to have seen it!

I think alece10 set up this thread just to tell us all the famous people they've met 😉 I didn't actually. And when you read the thread you will see I haven't met one of the 1st 2 choices and the same for today's choices. In fact I haven't met either of the choices I had in mind for Sunday. But as it might come over that I am trying to show off I think its wise that I discontinue with the thread. Just thought it was a bit of fun. OK let's take a breather here. I thought the use of the winky face emoji might have shown that I was just making a pretty harmless joke just seeing as you mentioned you've met The Queen and Imelda Staunton. Nothing more than that. Please continue with the thread.
