I wore my mask. One of a small handful. Side note. There was no merch apart from the programme last week. Is there anything available yet?

I loved this show so so so much. Full of emotion, life and joy. I was blown away. So much so that I'm about to buy tickets for my family. Before I do, are there any offers around that anyone knows of? Based on how full it was last week when I saw it I doubt it, but thought I'd check. Maybe Monkey knows?

This is such a weird choice. She's not a name here in the slightest, she's not someone who is going to sell tickets or generate much extra press. A UK lead would've been a much, much smarter idea. I also think if anyone is a fan of her, then they'd also be fans of the show, so would be seeing the show anyway. Seems like a bit of a stupid decision to me. Would've much rather seen one of our own incredible actresses do the role.

They’re uniformly excellent. The new Scorpius and harry especially so. The emotion from the new Harry is just incredible

Well I enjoyed this but didn’t love it. I’m glad I saw it but did t find it that groundbreaking or different or exceptional. I can’t quite put my finger on why. There were moments in the first 10 minutes where I got excited and thought, ‘this is going to be great’ but then. It wasn’t. It felt like it was treading water for a long time before anything happened.
Plus points were that there is some exceptional music and staging, especially towards the end of act 1, there’s some wonderful choreography and some great casting, especially the Fates, Hades and narrator whose character name I’ve forgotten. Also plus points for diversity and disability casting. I thought it was excellent to see someone with a physical difference as part of the company. Oh and Eva is a delight to watch, a voice which effortlessly soars.
Problems lie with the music becoming very samey, the general story and book and some of the performances. Reeve who I’m sure is very talented just isn’t right for this. He is too wet, there’s not much going on with the character and he adds nothing to the weak book. I simply didn’t care about him, didn’t believe his love and found him incredibly annoying and bland. The way he ran, the face he made when he did the la la la bit (which he does a lot), the fact it sounds like he struggles to hit that note. He just wasn’t good enough for this. Same goes for Amber Gray who I felt like was giving it SO much that it became distracting and annoying. He drunk portrayal was straight out of a school play, she over played everything, never seemed to be still, over emphasised every mark, pulled too much focus and I felt like I just wanted her to do less and be more real. For example a moment towards the end of act 2 where she is crying, from my seats j could see she wasn’t but she still wiped her whole face many many times as if she was soaked in tears, it was all too much, not at all genuine and really turned me off. Which is a shame as she has a beautiful voice.
So in all, I did enjoy the show, would recommend it but I don’t see it having much of a life after this in its current state.

Am seeing this tomorrow, do I need to know anything about it or the story it is based on to enjoy it?

Lucie Jones would be PERFECT in this. She was incredibly good as Elle in Legally Blonde recently.

This rumour has been doing the rounds since last year. It was rumoured to be going in this summer to the palladium well before king and I was announced...

I fully agree with Daniel above. Marcus isn't awful or a disgrace, just not as good as the cast around him. He does a passable attempt. I heard he did the tightrope successfully on Thurs & Fri night. The rest of the cast are incredibly talented, and the design, direction, choreography, magic tricks and lights are all incredible. I really had fun at the show, it's not perfect but it's a really fun night out. So intimate too.

Would love the link to listen If you go on tumblr, in the search bar type in Hamilton London and a few different songs will come up including the Sisters, Wait for it, and even one of Guns and Ships, which I think was quite well handled considering how it was tailored to Daveed's very specific skills. Thank you!

Don't be Sam, it's a really fun show and everyone leaves with a smile on their face. There's spectacle and more than enough for the family to enjoy. It's not a stinker of a show by any means

What a shame you thought that. I went yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The space looks amazing, the stunts and tricks were fab. A really energetic show with loads of lovely moments and ideas. Obviously not a masterpiece but a LOT of fun. And in surprisingly good shape for a first preview I think

Saw this the other day and thought it was really rather great. Some lovely touches and a lot of fun. A little long perhaps.Lucie Jones was fantastic as Elle, funny, difficult to keep your eye off, and really made you feel for and love the character. And boy can she sing. What a voice. Probably the best Elle there has been.

Is there enough headroom at the Menier for him to be able to do a tightrope walk?!
