According to the website: "The archive now holds over 450 high-quality archival multi-camera recordings of live performance in Britain and continues to record and preserve productions for the national collection... When V&A East opens in 2024 all the recordings will be available for the public to view in a brand-new facility."------ I'm a bit confused about the free event - do you not have to book in advance or is it first come, first served? Unsure what the capacity is. I asked. The event is not ticketed and the Hochhauser Auditorium seats 140. Thank you very much for sharing the info I can imagine it becoming a bit of a melee. I do hope they consider putting on multiple screenings.

Great to hear about the V&A screening but I hope that doesn't rule out a future life for this show.

So I was thinking the the other day that given how sublime this production was and its recent success at the Olivier Awards it would be great if one production- Broadway or West End were professionally filmed- even just for archival purposes. Looks like my prayer have been answered and there is a free screening at the V&A www.vam.ac.uk/event/oZnwwzBKgM/a-bands-visit-a-nvap-muscial-matineeAnyone know if this is still happening? They appeared to have taken the page down and I can no longer see it listed on the website. What a shame if it’s been pulled, but maybe it could be because of a future transfer…

Just thought I'd bump this thread.
Any update? I don't want to have to make an unnecessary trip to the V&A on a weekend.

Okay all, I have an update. I have (literally) just received this email from the V&A Ref.040 Dear Anthony, Hope you are well. I am just getting in touch as you previously showed an interest in attending the screening of 'The Bands Visit' on the 30th of April. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel that screening, but we have replaced it with 'How to Win Against History' at the same date and time: www.vam.ac.uk/event/oZnwwzBKgM/a-bands-visit-a-nvap-muscial-matinee. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, just wanted to spare you any disappointment on the day. Yours sincerely, V&A Theatre & Performance Enquiry Service. www.vam.ac.uk/page/t/theatre-and-performance/Although V&A staff are always pleased to answer enquiries whenever possible, they cannot accept any legal or other responsibility for any opinion expressed. The V&A is working on exciting plans to transform how you can explore our world-class collections through our V&A East project. To prepare for this major move, the Theatre and Performance Research Rooms at Blythe House have temporarily closed. Please note that V&A staff have no access to the collections whilst this work takes place. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home in Stratford, East London, due to open in 2024.
