Last night was hellish watching the Eurovision film but I'm cheered up by the news of a new series of Bonding starting soon.

I really enjoy the original Utopia (produced by channel 4 but available on Prime Video -- not the 2020 US remake). It's beautifully shot, thrilling but yet got this dark comedic element to it, in the same way Killing Eve does. Also Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (ft Elijah Wood). Series 1 at least, the follow up was pretty poor. |

is it easy to get hold of the previous series of the portrait one? The previous series of the portrait one is repeated on Tuesday at 8 I think. It may be repeated again in the week too. |

Currently watching last night’s Pottery Throwdown, as recommended by a friend at work. It’s basically the Bake-off format, but with pottery and that funny Nun off Derry Girls (Siobhán McSweeney) as host. Lovely telly. Is that who the host of Pottery Throwdown is. Well, slap my face with honeycombe tripe. She's very good. Can I thrown in the Christmas special of "Two Doors Down" ! |

Junior bake off has a new series started this week. The new judge is a bit wooden but it’s thoroughly wholesome. I'm watching this and its very enjoyable. Some of the kids are a bit precocious. I know they are kids but some of the bakes are truly dreadful. |

Great Designs last night was a good one - though not without tension, particularly as their build schedule overran into March 2020! But it all came out ok in the end. Use of spoiler needed there kathryn  I decided against it because this is the cheer-up TV thread and trust me, if you start watching that episode looking to be cheered-up you really do want to know that! |

I've been watching a delightful CBBC series called Danny and Mick. Danny Adams and Mick Potts, from the Newcastle Theatre Royal's pantomimes, star as bumbling employees of a leisure centre. Each episode sees them take on various tasks and end up covered in gunge, full of slapstick and knockabout humour. I've found it's the perfect pick me up.

Our Yorkshire Farm on Channel 5/My 5 is an absolute joy to watch. With nine of them, Clive and Amanda Owen 'farm' nearly as many children as they do sheep and cows!

I know they are kids but some of the bakes are truly dreadful. I love it. I'm actually jealous at how confident some of these kids are within themselves, even as they are dropping their cakes on the floor, putting all of the salt in the mix by accident, or realising they've completely misread the instructions! But it's not in an arrogant way and I'm impressed by how supportive they are of each other. But someone needs to give them a step so they can reach the freezer, or suggest to the shortest ones that they could use the lower shelf. They are very messy, but when you consider how much they are doing in the time, I'm still in awe of what they achieve. At that age I was making peppermint cremes, crumble mix and cheesecake from a packet.  |

I was actually the only boy at my grammar school to ever be allowed to do cookery (didnt call it domestic science in those days). It was mid 70s so I had long hair and had to tie it up in bunches. Very unfashionable. And on Saturdays I used to go to my grandfathers and make him sausage rolls, rock cakes and scones. |

I don’t find her annoying at all. I love her enthusiasm about all the places she visits. Last year she did a tour of Scotland which was also very good. She is supposed to be replacing Jane McDonald on the cruise series when it starts again. |

Last year she did a tour of Scotland which was also very good. Yes, I enjoyed that, too. It's only sometimes that her laugh seems OTT. But, yes, her enthusiasm is contagious. I also watched rebroadcasts of the Great British Car Journeys with Christopher Timothy and Peter Davison (the two younger actors on the original 'All Creatures Great and Small' and friends in real life). Beautiful antique cars, fun banter between the two and gorgeous scenery. |

If you're a Julia Davis fan you may have already seen them but if not check out Camping and Sally 4 Ever. And, not TV, but if you've not listened to them then the three series of Julia and Vicki Pepperdine's Dear Joan and Jericha podcasts are a must! |

Have you been watching Rick Stein's Cornwall, alece10 and sfsusan? It's more of a travelogue than cookery show, but it was saffrons buns yesterday. |

I do love saffron cake. My treat once a year when my niece comes to visit from Cornwall. Rick Stein is not that well liked in Cornwall though as he has bought so many shops and businesses in Padstow which are very "high end" and made the village very upmarket meaning the locals can't afford to buy property there. Remember looking at the menu once outside one of his restaurants and the prices made my eyes water, and I live in London so used to high prices. However his fish and chip shop on the harbour is great and best fish and chips I've ever had. The locals call Padstow "Padstein". |

Its the one on the harbour front underneath his cookery school and next to his shop (see what I mean about him owning everything). When I went we chose our piece of freshly caught fish and it was cooked to order. Yes it was expensive but worth it for me. Never been to Whitby I'm afraid. A trip to anywhere by the coast to eat fish and chips at the moment would be wonderful. |

Thanks, I've seen it on the tv guide, but haven't looked at it. Mostly because, as Alece says, locals really savage Stein and I've let that color my opinion. Although, I did order one of his Stein at Home boxes a month or so ago, which are also eye-wateringly expensive. And while I did get 4 or 5 meals out of what is meant to feed two, at the end of the day, it was premade coq au vin, salad, a (really delicious) smoked salmon pate, two slices of bread and dessert... for 53 pounds! I could have ordered a couple of ready-meals from Tesco and had the same quality for a lot less! |

The most recent episode of Susan Calman's show was great (featuring Whitby, Knaresborough, Haworth and York). I really, really want to try the 'Yorkie Sunday dinner wrap' or whatever it was called. That looked great! (And apparently it's not just at the featured shop... it's now a 'thing'.)
