The one and only time I have written in, my request was played, so I won't have a word said against her. I do, however, wish to make it absolutely clear that I would never begin formal correspondence with "Hi Elaine". The very idea that I would be so casual is preposterous! That’s the sort of missive she reads out that usually ends with “we saw you three times in Evita and often wonder if you received the Spode gravy boat we left for you at the stage door”. Elaine does “that laugh” and says “yes boys, I’m still using it” 🙂. Sadly Sheridan Smith has not reached anywhere near this level of National Treasure-ness and I don’t think she ever will.

Very sad as she seemed really happy and settled. Must be difficult when one person is in the public eye. She went off social media for a bit but seems back again as yesterday announced that she is filming a new drama series.

I met her after Little Shop of Horrors and she was so kind to my family and I (I was a teenager and even though I had no clue whom she was - was still starstruck) Alistair McGowern however....so rude.

Sheridan Smith said on Kermode and Mayo's Take podcast that she had signed to appear in the West End in a one-woman play in the New Year (but wouldn't say which one)

It’s a BBC show which started in the mid 90’s, Sheridan Smith debuts fairly late in the run as Jonathan’s sidekick Joey (replacing Caroline Quentin and Julia Sawalha before her). She debuts in “The Grinning Man” and reappears in “The Judas Tree” which are both great episodes. Her final episode is “The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb” which is one of my least favourite episodes - and marked the downturn of the series, in my opinion. All five series were on BBC iPlayer until recently. Now they’re only on BritBox or Amazon Prime (I think). With BritBox you get a seven day free trial (remember to cancel within this time). Hope this helps, adore that show so much!

Worth a look, I enjoyed JC back in the day. Not sure how it would work with younger audiences and if there were cultural references for the time etc.

Looks like Sheridan will be doing Shirley Valentine in the West End 2023. I think she will be excellent in this.
