(Slightly off topic I do realise but) apparently The Little Mermaid is up for a remake. I love The Little Mermaid. It’d be interesting how they recreate Ursula’s death as her being skewered as she is in the animated feature is something that Disney would ever repeat in any other film.
Personally, I think The Aristocats is ripe for a remake.
Right, back to the subject matter at hand.

I think there is a broader thread for discussion of Disney remakes in the depths of the board somewhere.

Watched this last night. I know reviews for this have not been particularly good, but I enjoyed it a lot.
I loved the Pink Elephants sequence. I was really looking forward to seeing what they had done with that, and it didn't disappoint.
It made me cry a few times! I adore "Baby Mine". I'm such a softie! 😂

I also absolutely loved it and was bawling throughout.
I would happily sit through it again and again

I saw this last week, and while it wasn't the disaster I was fearing (and it was better than some of the reviews of it that I'd read), I was just left wondering - why?
It was far too long (basically the plot is that of the original film but with the plot then running on a LOT longer), my main gripe is Dumbo himself, he just looks - wrong. In trying to make a photo realistic elephant, he lost all of the charm of the original film, and we're left with something that has eyes that look like they belong in Jurassic Park.
Also, some genius (probably the same one who decided it would be demeaning to have a talking mouse, and that those crows were just not open to even thinking about having in the film) decided it would be unforgivable to see a baby elephant drinking alcohol, so when Pink Elephants (sort of) turn up on screen, Dumbo gets all excited seeing them and starts rocking about with a grin on his face, but as no explanation is given for this sudden excitement, it looks like he is tripping his balls off rather than just being drunk.
At the end of the day, the whole thing just seemed an excuse to flog furry elephant toys (of which we are shown examples of on several occasions) rather than a film that particularly needed to be made, I'll stick to the original.

Out of all of the Disney remakes due this year Dumbo was the one I was most looking forward to so overall I was quite disappointed after seeing this. It was ok but that’s about it. Agree that the product placement of the elephant teddies was far too obvious. Colin Farrell probably gave the best performance in it. When Michael Keaton and Eva Green stepped out of the car I couldn’t help but think they were the roles that I would have expected Johnny Depp and Helena BC to have, given it’s a Tim Burton film.
