I hope this happens. I love the score and haven't seen it for such a long time. Not everything Jamie Lloyd does is the same. If he brings something of the style and spirit he brought to the Menier Assassins then this could be great . Agreed! I think his Regent's Park EVITA needs to be seen again as well....and I don't recall a black box setting or any video cameras. I don't ever need to see anything else with video cameras on the stage

Very dubious about this one - the beautiful production I saw at Charing Cross would take some beating, and frankly I want a set and costume, not people in their nighties or rehearsal clothes standing on a mostly empty stage.

I kinda hope Jamie Lloyd has learnt that the Sunset Boulevard model can't be implemented on everything after the fairly lukewarm Romeo and Juliet. I guess it will take the Tempest to know whether this is the style he will stick to with the cameras for the sake of cameras.

It's been mentioned there won't be cameras for The Tempest or Much Ado About Nothing. It's a myth that every JL show have cameras, The Seagull didn't and I don't think The Effect had them either.

After Tim Sheader’s abysmal deconstructed take at RPOAT and the rather underwhelming UK premiere production, it would be nice to see this material done justice at scale.

What a monkey’s paw situation. Ragtime…..a Jamie Lloyd production of Ragtime.

His production of Assassins was exceptional and had no video or any of that stuff. I actually think he could pull this off and give Ragtime the UK production it deserves.

I don’t know if it has changed but I think I saw Nathan Amzi mention something about the next adventure on his Socials in reference to the Tempest. I know Jamie is bringing Fabian (Sunset choreographer) on as movement coach.

Ragtime is the apotheosis of a great musical - a big one certainly, and clever and powerful. I'm shortly to tackle their Man of No Importance.

It'll be at the Olivier I'm assuming. I heard most of the material will be intact. Pretty fantastic choice for Indhu’s first season to be fair...

So, with Jamie Lloyd's increasing workload, does anyone know what happened about the rumour of him doing Ragtime at The National next year?.

I’m sorry to burst anyone’s bubble- but this isn’t a thing. It’s not happening.

Oh well, personally I think that's a shame. I'd have rather see him put his spin on Ragtime than Evita. Hey ho

Same here.I'd love to see a "proper" version of this as it has a fantastic score. The opening number alone has one of the best opening numbers for a musical.Unfortuantly we have had some "dodgy" productions. The one at the Piccadilly was a bit "bargain basement" - the Model T4 was two chairs for example and the least said about the OAT version the better. The best one I've seen (so far) was the actor/musician version at the Charing Cross Theatre. What a shame the original Broadway production didn't make it to the Prince Edwards as originally planned due to all the Livant shenanigans.

I’ve also heard from a reliable source this is happening… currently he’s casting. They’re looking for an American to play one of the characters.

Oh, Confusion ! Fascinating that two opposing views on the rumour are both so adamant on their authenticity. I just hope it happens one way or another. And The National seems a perfect venue for it. Oh well, time will tell I guess. I remain intrigued!
