Typical ATG being horrendous - broken priority link sent out 🤷♀️ At least you're one of the lucky ones who actually gets the pre-sale emails! Just login to your ATG account and access the pre sale from there.

YET another musical adaptation of a "millennial nostagia" film.
Big yawn.

I feel my age more and more these days. Another film I'm afraid I've never heard of. Dominant culture these days seems to be created by and produced for Millennials. It's really noticeable how they're becoming the main force.

If it’s good and people enjoy it I don’t understand the issue? Everyone has different tastes, people might not like what you like and find your musical theatre interests a ‘yawn’.

I found the workshop had a good balance of the nostalgia of the original film but then allowed the songs to touch on issues around growing up, loss of childhood, being true to yourself etc. It was incredibly emotional and heart-warming in parts. I'm all for existing IP usage from this era for musicals when they allow the musical to standalone in this way and use this art form to explore more than the film was able to. Something I think DWP failed to do.

This to me is a much more iconic film than DWP. I've seen this dozens of times, it's on TV a lot, whereas I've watched DWP maybe twice? I didn't think that DWP had the kind of following or status that it seems to have- it's completely passed me by-, whereas 13 Going on 30 has had more of a lasting impact to me...

Same, I love the film.

It's on Film 4 tonight. I doubt the announcement was designed to coincide, but quite fun anyway!

It's really noticeable how they're becoming the main force. The same how 10+ years ago it was the generation before it that was dominate. And then the generation before that. Millenials have hit that spot where things are long enough ago to be nostalgic and they are of an age where they start to look back and crave that nostalgia and be able to afford to invest in it in some way (e.g. theatre). In the 90s/00s it was ABBA, queen, rod Stewart etc who had jukebox shows. Now it's Max Martin, Steps, SAW, Britney etc. In 10 years or so it will the music of the 2010s. Same goes for movies etc.

The interesting thing about 13 Going on 30 was that it was never a huge hit in terms of box office but thanks to TV, home release and streaming, it has gained an audience over the years.
