Also the fact that this is doing workshops at Battersea Arts Centre screams 'theres no money behind this'

Personally I love the film and it's very nostalgic to me (I first watched it on my 13th birthday, and also when I turned 30 last year, plus many times inbetween). So this sounds interesting, I can see I might be the only one though  |

I'm interested in it. It's a more iconic film to me than The Devil Wears Prada, which people seem to be salivating over.
If I didn't have other plans that weekend I might have made it over to the workshop.

I feel my age more and more these days. Another film I'm afraid I've never heard of. Me either. In a way I prefer this though. Stage musical remakes of movies feel fresher and less of a rehash to me when I’m unfamiliar with the source material. I’ve not enjoyed the majority of screen to stage adaptations (with odd exceptions) when I’ve been a legacy fan of the original. One example would be Mary Poppins; watching a lady do a Julie Andrews impersonation I may as well have stayed at home and watched the movie (one of my favourites). Or The Wizard of Oz, Dirty Dancing, etc etc etc. But sometimes something like this will come along and I am entirely ignorant of it, but being launched in cold in a theatre setting I’ve hugely enjoyed it. Love Story was one such example, which I likely would never have discovered and enjoyed if it weren’t for the stage adaptation. Will give this one a whirl when it gets up and running. |
