Slick and well-staged with good vocal performances from the two leads - Sinead Campbell Wallace as Tosca and Adam Smith as Cavaradossi - somehow the overall effect is less than it should be, for me, and despite the good reviews I found it a bit flat. Maybe I just find Tosca slighter than its reputation, to be honest.
ENO really need to up their customer service. Opinions differed between various employees as to whether you can take a coffee (in a suitable cup and purchased from the ENO bar of course) into the auditorium or not. Final verdict - no. Still saw a number of people drinking coffee in their seats? If the Beefeater cocktail had any alcohol in it, I am a yeoman of the guard.

I enjoyed this. Its a good and well thought out production. Also sounds great but somehow it didn't zip by and it felt longer.

I did not expect the ENO of all places to have loud and sustained booing for the actors playing the two main villains. Ugh.
Otherwise, the set looked great. Lovely work with lighting and shadow and the final scene just looked fantastic. Sounded great. Hugely uncomfortable and painful seats in the balcony, I'm just under 6'4 and quite simply didn't fit in them. I was glad I had an aisle seat but I had to spend the evening turned. Far from ideal.
