That article's a bit vague but I presume they're reimagining the songs from the Albert Finney 'Scrooge'?

Oh, what a shame! I liked the sound of that, but 'animated' kills any interest I had in watching it. Might be good to get hold of the cast recording/soundtrack though.

This is available from today on Netflix. The cast of voice actors is packed with West End veterans, including Luke Evans, Fra Fee, Jonathan Pryce, Jessie Buckley, Giles Terera, Johnny Flynn, and Olivia Colman.

I myself thought it was pretty vile, with terrible songs and loads of weird autotune. It might do better with kids under 8

I thought it was awful, switched it off half way through. Obviously geared towards kids, the songs were bad enough but for me it was the animation that finished me off.

'you can't escape your past, mate' - poor Dickens. Grim stuff.

That article's a bit vague but I presume they're reimagining the songs from the Albert Finney 'Scrooge'? Yes, from the 1970 film. The film is in loving memory of and credits Leslie Bricusse as producer, co-screenplay writer and music & lyrics. The song tiles featured are on www.imdb.com/title/tt20917338/soundtrack/?ref_=tt_trv_snd. Personally the only ones I remember from the 1970 film/stage musical are "Christmas Children", "Happiness", "I Like Life", "The Beautiful Day", "Thank You Very Much" and "I'll Begin Again", so I'm guessing the others I've not mentioned are ones Bricusse wrote for this new film prior to his passing or from his back catalogue/deleted from the 1970 film.
