It was posted on Facebook around 6.50pm, so I can imagine quite a few patrons were already in the theatre for the performance. Unless a number of actors take ill at the same time an hour before curtain up I can’t see why such a late notice would occur? What’s the cover arrangements for Hamilton?
As for no text, what about the people that don’t look at Facebook or Twitter?

They had already borrowed cast from other shows to try and go ahead, must have been borderline and then one more person went ill. I hardly think they would want to cancel

Karl Queensborough is back to play Alexander Hamilton today. There were a lot of covers on for the matinee yesterday, including borrowing previous cast from other shows as mentioned above. I would imagine the announcement of the cancellation didn’t come much after the decision was made that the performance would have to be cancelled.

Jay Perry returning as Aaron Burr too.
This is only speculation, but due to Covid protocols, a lot more actors are having to be taken off the show when they’d otherwise have tried to perform.

'waiting for a text'? your missing the point entirely. Firstly, navigating around London, I do not expect to keep a watchful eye on Musks Twitter and bigbrother Facebook - both of which i have never subscribed too. BUT, had a 'text' or an 'email' come through - at any point in time - i would of received and noted that. MY Gripe is 'they' couldnt be bothered to email or text. Hence the large ( annoyed ) crowd outside theatre at around 7.15pm when we arrived. I have continued to complain. Im sure they didnt want to cancel...but odd that illness all up and running literally within 24hours where the show went on with full capacity!! Disgusted and will never ever watch Hamilton or attend that theatre. I've heard it's not that great anyway.

I assume he's saying the late notice was disgusting as people were only finding out while already queued.. which, fair enough I'd be pretty annoyed too. Cancelling the performance itself will be an absolute last resort, they won't have done it lightly, and having enough cast the following day bears very little relation to the previous issue however - any number of things can have changed by then, surely no one would begrudge the next days audience having their show go ahead.

Quick to comment slow to read. You jumped from 'producers' to 'actors'. My 'beef' is with the 'admin' of the theatre, whoever that may be. I'll spell it out for you. If a show is cancelled, then YOU INFORM all those down to attend via email and text heck even phonecall! that it is cancelled!. I NEVER had received any notification to say this was cancelled. Apparently 'if' you checked Twitter or facebook then they posted it there. Instead of 'having a go' understand the fustrations, annoyance, sheer selfishness, stupidy that in 2022 no-one can 'blindcopy' a simple email informing those attending who paid for travel AND TIME to get to the event. I suspect anyone disagreeing with my sentiment, has, (a) never been in that position and/or (b) are the type of annoying people who crackle crisp packets and the like throughout a performance. No need reply, as despite Hamilton not thinking so, but my time is prescious and not wanting to waste anymore time on it!

It's customer service basics and there's no excuse in this day and age, especially for such major producers/theatre owners. They should have the systems and processes in place.
Putting things out on social media is not enough as not everyone has that, or if they do they don't likely follow the show. It's lazy.

The live nature of theatre means something can go wrong at the last minute. I would say some theatres are very good at communicating cancellations like the Bridge which was the only cancellation I had last year although oddly I was planning to exchange anyway due to illness the week I was meant to go.

I agree I’d have been very disappointed and frustrated to find the show I was due to attend cancelled at such short notice. I can only assume the late decision was down to something happening last minute, or them working through other options but finding none were viable. They don’t cancel lightly due to not wanting to lose revenue.
To defend the theatre / producers here though - they post these things on social media first and foremost as, like it or not, in 2022 it’s the fastest way to reach as many of those people who need to know as quickly as possible. Yes we don’t all check our socials every 5 minutes so they know not everyone will see it, but posting on Facebook and Twitter is much more time-efficient than sitting down with a list of bookers and their telephone numbers at 6.30pm and starting to make calls. Likewise the logistics of sending a mass text or email, whilst quicker than calling, will take longer than the social post.
I know from my own experience with Hamilton and other shows that when performances have to be cancelled with a little more notice, the communication from most shows / producers / theatres is excellent.

Hamilton - the musical that was cancelled.
So - i am biting the bullet and WILL be seeing this show. Previously booked £100 seating, but as it as cancelled, and refunded no problem, i am not a position to purchase those seats again.
SO, my question to those in the know, who have actually been there and seen the show and sat in the seats is - Stalls - are they raised, unlike BTTF experience where the stalls are not really on much of a raise. And is there a decent place to sit, talking £60 - £80 seatings.
I see a few seatings saying, ' this view will miss walkway' - what does that mean?
The Royal circle from the side..or even a bit towards back. As I know, with Newsies, seating is EVERYTHING, but theres also the cost involved ( although Newsies is very reasonably priced and for front on the left/right side costs only £60 ) - so your thoughts on perhaps a good..but not expensive view. OR, pay the price - as it makes the difference? close up in stalls?

The walkway is probably referring to the raised level along the back and sides of the set. You can see it in pretty much every set picture: image.cnbcfm.com/api/v1/image/105166097-_DSC0005-revised_PEOPLE.jpg?v=1524859089&w=929&h=523&vtcrop=y. Plenty happens here but nothing vital to my recollection, although it's been a long time since I've seen the show. I think I prefer Hamilton, as I prefer Newsies, from further back. A lot is happening and it's difficult to take in the scale of the ensemble numbers from the front of the stalls. Front of the upper circle/grand circle (whatever they call it there) would probably be my choice to balance cost and view here.

My first time seeing Hamilton was from the stalls. Next time was from Grand circle and apart from the awful legroom this was definitely my preferred experience. I think the sweet spot where you're not too far but can see all the cool lighting and get the full experience is from Royal circle. I've sat nearer the back to the side of the Royal circle and this still gave an excellent view and didn't feel too distant from the actors on stage.
