After the Tonys, the Hamilton album is no.1 on US itunes, beating Beyonce and Drake.
It is also no.17 on UK itunes. Consider a few things:
1. The Tonys didn't air in the UK 2. The album has been out since September 3. The show hasn't opened in the UK yet
That's very impressive. I really, really doubt the show will fail here.

I dont think it will fail at all. Would be interesting to see numbers of registrations but would imagine they will keep it quiet

Did you get any email after signing up? With the HamiltonTheMusical site there was a message confirming successful sign-up, but no e-mail.

Like wicked and mormon before it, the american tourist trade who arent able to get tickets in the states will help fill seats.
Theyd also be smart to be like mormon and aladdin to start prices reasonable

To see this now in New York scalpers are asking $12.000
For that money you can fly to London first class, Stay a few nights in the Dorchester, shop for a couple of hours in Harrods, go to Buck House, have a selfie done with the queen and still have money left over to enter the Hamilton lottery.

I saw Javier in October, loved his performance and he is the obvious and best person to replace Lin!

Titus would be a fab King George! I guess my Hamilton will be Javi. I actually wonder if there is such a need for an alternate Hamilton. I always thought that the need was specifically tailored for Lin to be able to do some other work related to the show and perform.
I love how Lin is volunteering to stand in subsequent replacements.

How is this any kind of surprise?

How is this any kind of surprise? Not a surprise, I knew he would be leaving soon due to Mary Poppins. Still, it's my favourite show of all time so just sad that the original cast didn't stay together for longer.

It was very special to see it with LMM -- we don't often get to see writers act in their own works -- but it will be good to give him a break. His voice was a little strained at our performance and teetering on the edge at the Grammys and Tonys (though that may have just been emotion). I've heard Javier is good and John Rua, the second alternate, also got positive reviews the night he performed.

I have a feeling Jon might be too much of a good dancer to have him upgraded to alternate Hamilton. I also read that he reads a bit too young at times and the scenes between him and Philip don't quite work out.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere today something saying that Javier is doing 7 performances a week and they are casting for a new alternate right now.

The understudy is Jon Rua, who is mentioned in this thread already (as is speculation as to why he wouldn't become the new alternate).

Jon Rua. He might be but perhaps not given the reasons discussed above.

John Roa is the understudy. He wouldn't necessarily get bumped up. I don't think he will be, TBH. I heard some cheeky recordings of him in the role, and though he sounds just fine, I don't think he is as strong as Lin or Javi (who I think is somewhat better than Lin, TBH).

I've seen the show with both Lin and Jon in the lead (not at the same time of course!) and actually Jon was just fine. Sure, I was initially worried that he looked so young, but Hamilton is young at the beginning, and Jon definitely moved through the ages of Ham with no problem. He might not have Lin's natural charisma (does ANYONE have Lin's natural charisma?!) but he made some smarter acting choices and had a much more melodious singing voice. I would like to have seen Javier but Jon was great.
