He thinks the UK is hung up about sex?? Hardly. The USA went into meltdown because Janet Jackson flashed a covered up nipple!! I still laugh at that debacle. I can’t believe that actually happened, plus the revelation that some head of CBS made it his mission to completely blacklist Janet Jackson from mainstream media at the time. I can’t even imagine that happening to anyone in the UK. Judy Finnegan’s “wardrobe malfunction” (sans nipple) is seen as one of the funniest TV moments of the decade. Anyway, never heard any laughs from that line, and let’s just say I’ve seen Hamilton in London (with an audience) quite a few more times than LMM.

We're really NOT. I was having a conversation with an American theatre-going friend once who thought she'd probably seen maybe seven penises on stage. Ever. I've seen seven penises on stage in a single show more than once, the US has to try MUCH harder if they want *us* to be the "hung up on sex" half of the Special Relationship. Now you’ve got me trying to recall how many penises I’ve seen on stage....

I’m sure @ryan would love this topic.

I've also never heard anyone laughing at that part.
A similar line came to mind; in Les Miz, when Javert says "I will keep you warm" when Fantine's in bed.

I see Hamilton (well, it's theatre) has just added "Best Toilet Facilities" to it's long list of awards at the WhatsOffStage Awards. 😂😂

That's a very random award lol I must say the toilets were very clean and didn't smell which was good compared to some, I used a random tiny toilet halfway up the stairs to the upper circle and found it fine even though it was miniscule.

A bog standard award if you ask me. Hopefully they won’t go round the bend after winning it. Though I bet they are feeling pretty flushed about winning it.

Random! Anyway, of course they have the best toilets, the theatre was refurbished under a year ago!

I hope they had a minute of silence for the former Union Theatre's loo. Oh, we that are young shall never see so much.

I just reread and it's actually "Best Theatre Facilities", but still, toilets are included in that! 😂

Saw this tonight for the first time - enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away by it.
Thought the cast were mostly terrific. Jamael and Sifiso were brilliant in the 2 leading roles, and I am especially pleased to see Sifiso has been promoted to lead for the next cast, as he was really excellent.
Waylon was on for King George and he was great - very funny. He made Sifiso semi-corpse in act 2 just by pulling a funny face when he was sat on the side. Thought the main 3 ladies were all very good - I've seen some slightly negative reviews about Rachelle but I thought she gave a very strong performance, particularly in act 2.
Thought Obioma was very good as Washington, and I really enjoyed his One Last Time. Jack Butterworth was a very good Laurens/Philip Hamilton, and I enjoyed Tarinn Callender as Mulligan/Madison.
By far and away the weakest performance was Jason Pennycooke - I didn't understand a single word he said in either act 1 or 2. After act 1, I thought it may have been because of the accent, but then he was just as hard to understand in act 2. His diction was very poor.
I quite liked the choreography and it was performed well by the ensemble. The score was quite good, but (as I feared) there was a bit too much rapping for me (I loathe rapping/hip hop as a musical genre) - but that's more of a personal taste thing.
Lastly, I hate how much I had to pay just to see this - £100 for a semi-decent Royal Circle seat (it was the cheapest left when bought) is much too expensive really, and I wouldn't pay that much to see the show again, though I would see the show again if prices came down.

For anyone who hasn't read it, Alexander Hamilton (Great Lives) by Ron Chernow is on offer for 99p on the Kindle store at the moment.
This is the book which the musical is based on.
I've read it. It is a long book with a huge amount more detail about Hamilton's life, including his background and early years. You can see parts of the text that have become lyrics as well.

Does anyone know when the next block of tickets is scheduled to release? My partner and I are doing a Europe trip in May and want to go while we’re in London. Thanks in advance!

Technical problems at the matinee today, at least a twenty minute delay.

I assume they threw away what was shot... Does that mean it was a filmed performance?

I think it's infinitely more likely that Monkey's making a lyrics-based joke.

I have a couple of questions as I am seeing the Saturday matinee next week (and apologies if these have been answered before a lot, as I haven't been following this thread)...
1) What is the best time to get there for (as I'm assuming there'll be queues due to paperless ticketing)?
2) I'm seeing on social media people either receive the little stubs or full-sized tickets (which by the look of it the cast have been signing for charity the past week or so) - how do people get the latter? I'm assuming the stubs are for the paperless tickets, but I didn't think there was another way is there?
Many thanks in advance

I hate hanging around in theatres so usually never get there until about 10 mins before curtain. 2. The signed tickets are a £30 charity donation I think. Everyone gets ticket stubs only unless your card doesn't work and they have to re-print the ticket.

I usually tend to get there 30mins or so before curtain up (as I'm always anxious of being late - which I never am!), but just wasn't sure if the paperless ticket system meant needing to get there even earlier than usual. And I am one for collecting tickets so would much rather prefer the full ticket than just the stub - oh well!

I’ve actually found the process of entering the theatre via the ticketless system a lot more swift and organised than the regular way. I suppose it’s because everyone is using the same method and there are staff making sure people have their cards and ID out much earlier in the line, rather than a mixture of people collecting at the box office, standing in doorways waiting for friends, not having their tickets out etc.
