That would be a bit of a surprise, and disappointing. It's a show that will need a good level of production values, especially in the costume department. One of the big criticism of the Chicago production was the lack of a high fashion feel.
Unless if it's being classed as a try out more for the material itself before a larger production is mounted. I guess it would also fit with maybe Mrs doubtfire closing after a year or so.

Thereās a TikTok vlogger (who is usually quite accurate when it comes to Broadway tea) who is saying this is booked into Regentās Park Open Air Theatre next summer? Iād be surprised to see it there but as I said, heās usually quite accurate when it comes to Broadway detailsā¦ Itās confirmed to be a āWest Endā project so unless theyāre playing fast and loose with the term this doesnāt add up

I presume Barbican next year as part of the Trafalgar Partnership thatās just been announced. Trafalgar aren't one of the producers plus it wouldn't be an out of town tryout if it's in London.

Can definitely see this following the same trajectory of & Juliet and Mrs. Doubtfire.

I'd be shocked if its anywhere other than the shaftsbury in London as it was mentioned alongside Mrs Doubtfire when the Jamie Wilson partnership was announced

Iām more intrigued by an out of town try-out location that isnāt āManchester gets it firstā. Maybe itāll be at Watford Coliseum to really sell that Elton link, or does Pinner have a theatre? š

Well there's only a few places that usually take try outs so that narrows it down a bit. Manchester is the main one but Cardiff has had some....Leicester has had some.....Bristol has had some....Bath has had some.....

A reminder from the Chicago production. It wasnāt an awful show by any means, but it certainly didnāt fulfil its potential

trading on a back catalogue that he could barely sing was just not for me. Yes there was a massive amount of nostalgia and yes they are magnificent compositions, but as a performance I did not enjoy it. Youād rather be only perform new music? That would definitely make you the minority. š Of course he doesnāt sound like he did when he was 20 to 25 years old. Itās been 50 years - no-oneās voice is the same in their mid-70s as their md-20s. They are āmagnificent compositionsā performed by the original artist at the end of his touring career. If you canāt appreciate how he has adapted and reinterpreted them at this point in his live career then you wonāt enjoy it. But most people can. And his piano playing is still fabulous. Anyway, back to Pradaā¦

Elton? Heās re-writing the score! Blimey. Pleasantly surprised by that Itās not like Elton is new at this - he know that musicals need to be re-written and re-worked. Itās happened with his other shows and as a veteran live performer he is fully aware that you need an audience to see something to know if it has worked. Itās one of the reasons that he only did one show with Bernie Taupin - Bernie hated the re-writing process on Lestat. Couldnāt stand it.

That would be great, but I canāt see it. I know Cameron put āPoppinsā in there with it being his ālocalā big theatre (local being 40 miles) but it didnāt set any sort of precedent, and thereās been nothing sinceā¦.but Iād love to be wrong.

Left field choice but Southampton was meant to be the out of town try out for Chitty but they eventually decided to open cold in London.
So it could be anywhere really š¤£
Plymouth could be another one.
All depends on if ATG are involved or not I guess.
