I'd love to see Jo Riding play Miranda. Or Rosemary Ashe.

Janette Krankie?
No?
Vanessa Williams? Got “bitchy magazine editor” down to a fine art and has appeared in the West End before, even if her last stint got cut short.

Sarah Jessica Parker would sell a LOT of tickets.
Laura Benanti would be very funny and brilliant.

Catherine Zeta Jones would be FABULOUS.
If this really is Waddingham, I hope they've entirely rewritten it as she deserves something good for her big theatre return.

It seems odd that any big name would want to be in this considering the car crash it was in Chicago. They must have really worked on it since then.

I think we can all rightfully assume that there will be huge differences between this production and Chicago. A new director means a new direction and it has been a year since that production (and likely another 6 months or more until we get a London production). David Furnish mentioned this happening in 2024 in an interview a month or so ago so there is plenty of time to rehaul the show top to bottom.

If it's really Hannah Waddingham (and let's face it, she'd be great as Miranda) I'm sure she would choose her role for a comeback on stage very carefully while her career is at an all-time high thanks to Ted Lasso and the ESC.
Elton John has been very hit and miss with his musicals, he's written great stuff like Aida, Billy Elliot and Tammy Faye, but also the complete car crash that was Lestat (although his songs were the least of that show's problems). He's stopped touring now, so he has time to focus on actually working on his musicals now (and it seems to have gone quiet around Tammy Faye?).

Sally Dexter? Always assumed she left Emmerdale to go back to some proper theatre work.

After that hideous outing At Glastonbury we can all be thankful for that. Let’s hope he sticks to it!

The whole show is being rewritten… songs and all. Everything was chucked out after the disaster of Chicago

Re TAMMY FAYE: According to both David Furnish and Jake Shears in recent interviews, the show is very much alive and headed to its next iteration or as DF put it, "a bigger theatre" in 2024. That said, I have my doubts it will be a London transfer. Theatrical Index now has it newly listed as 'In Development" but for Broadway, not London.

After that hideous outing At Glastonbury we can all be thankful for that. Let’s hope he sticks to it! I think you’re in the minority about Glastonbury! I saw rave reviews everywhere else! I’m with Burly. It was painful at times and deathly dull at others. I saw him about fifteen years ago and it was possibly my most disappointing concert ever. Reading about his ‘Red Piano’ shows in Vegas with improved visuals, inflatables etc made me think he’d upped his game in terms of showmanship, but trading on a back catalogue that he could barely sing was just not for me. Yes there was a massive amount of nostalgia and yes they are magnificent compositions, but as a performance I did not enjoy it.

I think in order to cover up the fact that he can’t really sing the songs any more he just exaggerated the vocal mannerisms we all associate with Elton and ended up sounding like a very poor tribute act.

As I said Everything and everyone has been chucked out (except Elton J) That's too bad. That song was a keeper....but here's hoping there was a shuffle in the creative team besides the director. The costume and set design was pretty atrocious as well.

Everyone… EVERYONE…. Has been booted out except Elton John. This is an entirely new UK based team with Jerry M directing.
